During 20 days from November 4 to 28, 1980, the quantities of grease and oil, BOD (biological oxygen demand), COD (chemical oxygen demand), SS (suspended solid) were measured at Grit Chamber, Primary Sedimentation Tank, Secondary Sedimentation Tank in Chung Gye Chun sewage treatment plant. The results were as follows. 1. The average of grease and oil quantities were 251mg/l at Grit Chamber, 185mg/l at Primary Sedimentation Tank, 47mg/l at Secondary Sedimentation Tank. 2. In the secondary treatment for the removal of grease and oil, the removed quantities of grease and oil were increased according to increasing the quantities of influent grease and oil. The regression equation were as follows G.O.removed=0.731 G.O. influent+3.235 (r=0.887) 3. The average of grease and oil removal rate was 76.4% and the standard deviation of grease and oil removal rate daily was 10.6%. 4. G.O. (grease and oil) and BOD, COD, SS showed significant correlationship at Grit Chamber, Primary Sedimentation Tank, Secondary Sedimentation Tank. (P<0.05). 5. In the secondary treatment, effluent grease & oil and other parameters were analyzed by means of Stepwise multiple regression. Multple regression equation for estimates of effluent grease and oil were as follows. $GO_E=-9.1637+2.0380 SS_E+0.068 SS_I$ (r=0.778) 6. The correlative parameters for the effluent grease and oil seem to be the influent SS and the effluent SS. 7. It was estimated that the removal of grease and oil would be improved by means of improvement of suspended solids removal efficiency but it is necessary to inquire further into the study.

We present a modified method for the treatment of brain abscess. The double lumen extraventricular drainage (EVD) catheter which was developed for the intracerebral hematoma management, was applied for the treatment of brain abscess drainage. We placed the double lumen EVD catheter into the abscess cavity by free-hand technique and irrigated the abscess cavity continuously with antibiotics solution for 7 days. Simultaneous intravenous antibiotics was administered for 4 weeks. The continuous irrigation with double lumen catheter was found to be safe and effective treatment modality in the brain abscess.

Cerebral fat embolism (CFE) is a rare, albeit potentially lethal complication of longbone fractures. All trauma patients who are initially lucid and subsequently experience mental status deterioration should undergo immediate evaluation of possible CFE. In the present case, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was the most sensitive technique for the diagnosis of CFE, particularly the use of diffusionweighted images (DWI). The authors present this case to report a pathophysiologybased interpretation of the MR characteristics and treatment of CFE.

We present two cases of deep cerebral venous thrombosis(DCVT) with the totally occluded straight sinus. A 42-year-old female received with altered mentality . She has taken antihistamine for six years to treat the paranasal sinusitis. Another 34-year-old female who used the oral contraceptive for 11 months presented with acute behavior change . Both of these patients were diagnosed by computed tomography(CT), magnetic resonance(MR) imaging, and cerebral angiography. They were fully recovered with systemic urokinase thrombolysis followed by heparin therapy. We report that the intravenous thrombolysis was potentially effective management strategy in our cases of DCVT with the totally occluded straight sinus.

Purpose: This study aimed to improve the asymmetrical weight-bearing ratio, by applying different repetitive sit-to-stand training methods to the paretic-side foot of hemiplegic patients, as well as to provide the necessary information for applying balance training with hemiplegic patients. Methods: The subjects were divided into two groups: a spontaneous foot group and an asymmetrical foot group. They all performed repetitive sit-to-stand training five times a week for a total of six weeks. The sit-to-standing movement was studied using standardized clinical tests. The Biodex Balance System, Time up and go test (TUG), 5 times sit-to-stand test (5XSST), and functional reach test (FRT) were used to measure the static and dynamic standing balance of the patients. Results: In the balance system measurement, the results for the overall index, ant-post index, med-lat index, fall risk index, 5XSST, and FRT after the training differed significantly between the comparison groups (p<0.05). In the evaluation of dynamic balance, the differences in TUG did not differ significantly between the comparison groups after the training (p>0.05). Conclusion: The study found that the asymmetrical group showed significant increases in static and dynamic balance in comparison to the spontaneous group after repetitive sit-to-stand training. Based on this result, it is clear that training in an asymmetrical position with the paretic foot back can increase the left-right stability limit and the anterior-posterior stability limit, thus improving balance control.
Effect of Horse Riding Simulator Exercise on Thickness of Transverse Abdominis in Healthy Adults
박재효,김영미 대한물리치료학회 2019 대한물리치료학회지 Vol.31 No.2
Purpose: This study examined the effects of horse riding simulator exercise on the thickness changes in the transverse abdominis in normal adults. Methods: Forty-five healthy adults were recruited and randomized to a horseback riding simulation exercise group (n=15), a sling exercise group (n=15), and a trunk stabilization exercise group (n=15). A horseback riding simulator offers the indoor experience of horseback riding and mimics the rhythmic movement of horseback riding, thereby provided a virtual environment, such as riding a real horse on the front screen. The velocity of the horse riding simulator exercise was regulated within the subject’s ability to control the exercise on the horse riding simulator. A sling exercise group performed sling exercise under the inspection of the experimenter. In the trunk stabilization exercise group, the subjects were instructed to perform the exercise accurately and pause the session when pain occurred during the intervention. The subjects in each group carried out the interventions three times per week for six weeks. The thickness of the transverse abdominis was measured using a pressure biofeedback unit and the ultrasound. Results: Significant differences in the thickness of transverse abdominis within the groups were observed between before and after the interventions. On the other hand, there were no differences in the parameters among the groups. Conclusion: Horse riding simulator exercise can be an alternative to trunk stabilization exercise by increasing the thickness of the transverse abdominis in healthy adults.
