Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose a theoretical model of hope commonly held by the cancer patients just after surgery, under the assumptions that hope of those patients is not only realistic and disease oriented but in dialectical circulation. Method: A theoretical model was generated through 4 steps: exploring a hope structure by synthesizing the relevant hope structures expressed in Kim and Tae's studies, in-depth literature review, examining the meanings of the concepts consisted of the structure in use and their causal relations in logical adequacy, proposing a theoretical structure through synthesizing the causal relations, and diagramming the structure. Results: The proposed theoretical model involves concepts such as Cancer Related Uncertainty (CRU), Efforts to Find out the Possibility of Cure or Recovery (EFPCR), and Hopefulness or Hopelessness. The ‘EFPCR’ is stipulated as ‘Behaviors Related to Looking for Evidences or Cues (BRLEC)’ and ‘Formation of Cognitive Schema (FCS)’. In the model, Hopefulness is directly influenced by ‘CRU in low’, which is affected by ‘FCS in good’ from the result of EFPCR started with ‘CRU in increase’ while ‘CRU with increase’ from the result from EFPCR has direct effect on Hopelessness. Conclusion: The theoretical model would be used to enhancing hope of the cancer patients in post-operation.

This study is intended to identify how personalities of nursing college students are, how self-perception level is depending on their personalities and what relation exists between clinical practice capability of nursing college students based on Choi Mi Sook`s (2005) supplemented paper, which reinforced measuring tools developed by Lee Won-Hee, Kim Cho-Ja, Ryu Ji-Soo, Lee Hye-Sook, Kim Gyeong-Sook, Lim Seong-Min (1991) based on MBTI personality test and Ego-gram Check list of Korea Transactional Analysis Association and Six-Dimension Scale of Schwirian(1978). Therefore, this paper is intended to make individuals understand their personalities and advance them toward desirable direction, and supplement their weakness. Then consequently help them to become satisfactory nurses for their job and make them more efficient nursing human resources. From the results of this study, it is recognized that self-perception for nursing college student is different depending on their personalities and capabilities of clinical practice are also different for each student. And it`s required to develop education programs and strategy of practice suitable for personalities of students and operate them efficiently. Capability for clinical practice is proved to nourish problem-solving capability for nursing college students and enhance education-learning course for individual by learning and practicing technologies, knowledge and attitudes. In addition, this capability is believed to give them sufficient skills to play roles for specialized future nurses who are autonomous and creative. Therefore, this paper proposes that addressing the relation between self-perception and clinical practice capability depending on personality of nursing college students is helpful for qualitative enhancement of clinical practice education.
We studied about propolis' effect on the prolongation of acidification of kimchi during its fermentation at 10℃. In the result of inhibitory effect of propolis on the growth of Lactobacillus plantarum in MRS broth, propolis didn't show the ability of the complet inhibition in growth but, showed the ability of bacteriostatic effect. All experimental groups such as 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 % propolis-added kimchi produced propolis-specific and non-acceptible odors. In the experiment of 0.05, 0.1, and 0.5 % propolis-added kimchi fermentation, all experimental groups prolonged the acidification and showed better taste than that of control kimchi. Especially, 0.05 propolis-added kimchi showed the best taste among all of things. Microbial changes in propolis-added kimchi fermentation didn't show the strain-specific inhibitory effects of propolis, but showed that it caused the prolongation of acidification of kimchi by inhibition of lactic acid bacteria in the prior stages of kimchi fermentation. And the growth of yeast in kimchi fermentation was delayed by addition of propolis.

Objectives :The purpose of this study is to identify the essence of bone-arrangement therapy experienced by patients suffering from low back pain. Methods :The current study was approved by the institutional review board(IRB No. I-1110/005-001) and planned by phenomenological methods among qualitative studies. In-depth interviews with nine patients who visited and treated their low back pain in a bonesetter’s office at Busan were completed and was analyzed based on a Collaizzi’s phenomenological method. Results :The interviews were classified into five themes as follows : “Low back pain with large amounts of inconvenience”, “Repulsion to existing medical treatment”, “Treatment by hand is the best”, “Must hold out bone set therapy”, “Giving up more improvement or hope for keeping health”Patients often are misunderstood because they could not actively participate in social activities due to their low back pain or frustrated by their incompetence to finish their work on time. They also visited a hospital to treat their pain, but had no reaction even after getting an injection or rather felt worse due to formal treatment. At first, they felt nervous and in great pain during process of treatment, but after a certain period of treatment, they felt much easier in their back and refreshment. Conclusions :The therapeutic effects by a unique treatment called bone set experienced by patients suffering from lower back pain patients who have no effects from the institutional treatment were reported in the current study. Through this finding, it is considered that further study on more objective and detailed therapeutic effects should be conducted.
This is an underlying study for expanding child growth and developmental screening program, which had been implemented as a part of maternal child health service in a certain public health center located in P City. This study attempted to develop system model to discover, consult and follow-up developmental disabilities in children in early stage. For the purpose of providing groundwork for further development of screening program, the system model was analyzed and evaluated. One of the focuses of this study was developing practical tool that can aid small number staffs of public health center to handle large number of patients. 9 types of developmental checklist by key month was developed to support understaffed public health center. These checklists were also supplied to other public health centers, greatly improving qualitative and quantitative development of screening project. Also, the 4-step program of operating and managing child growth and developmental screening was proved to be quite effective. Total 632 children were evaluated and 21 of them were suspected to have developmental problem. Among these children, 8 children were determined to receive regular supervision of public health center. Other 13 children were recommended to visit professional institution, but only 7 of them actually visited institution. Four of these children who visited professional institution are currently receiving treatment, while the other 3 children were determined to require close observation. Five times of screening education were provided to the staffs in public health center and personnel in charge of children in every district public center in P City. The purpose of this training was to improve individuals` capability to implement project and to establish basis for expanding child growth and developmental screening program. The participants were guided to have continuous attention for the project, and their knowledge, skill and recognition were greatly improved through educational training. Also, professional child consulting and education, including lecture for baby food and baby food menu exhibition, were given to parents. Through this opportunity, parents acquired higher understanding about baby food while the local residents` recognition for maternal child health service was greatly improved.
