        쏘가리(Siniperca scherzeri ; 진구아강 , 농어과)두 변종의 핵형과 유전자 총량에 관하여

        Karyotypes and genome sizes of the two color variants in mandarine fish (Siniperca scherzeri) were examined to obtain a basic information on the genetics of this fish. Both variants appeared to have identical chromosome numbers (2n=48) and similar karyotypes consisting of two pairs of submetacentrics and 22 pairs of acro-or telocentrics without notably heteromorphic sex chromosomes. DNA content of both fish was 1.4pg per diploid genome. Genetical and evolutionary implications of the results are discussed.

        가톨릭 교회의 관점에서 본 한국의 저출산 문제

        Currently, Korean society is experiencing lowest-low fertility with the total fertility rate below 1.3. The low fertility is a social phenomenon that causes various socio-economic problems due to a decrease in the working population, so the government is trying to resolve this problem by mobilizing a huge budget. This situation can be thought to be caused by various factors, such as the birth control policy that the government has been promoting for over 30 years, job instability, the increase in the costs of children, and especially the situation of women in which they have to carry out both paid work and housework, value changes regarding marriage and family, etc. The Catholic Church doesn’t emphasizes the great number of children but teach that the vocation of marriage, family, and parenthood is a journey of realization of person so that the process of procreation is consistent with the dignity of the person. In the meantime, it has been carrying out the pro-life movement rather than the encouraging childbirth However, in the era of lowes-low fertility, it is necessary to look at and act on the issues of childbirth and nurture more actively while preserving the pro-life movement. There are necessary the education about marriage, family, human life based on Christian anthropology, celebration of the dignity of life in the liturgy and everyday life and practical activities to help childbirth and nurture. Since marriage and childbirth cannot be imposed, the Catholic Church should invite people to know the precious value and meaning of marriage and family.

        한국의 의사조력자살 법제화에 대한 인격주의 생명윤리적 고찰

        On June 15, 2022, a bill was proposed to legalize physician-assisted suicide for the first time in Korea. And since this bill was introduced, various social discussions have been actively going on. Important issues related to the bill proposal include the issue of confirming the public's opinion on the legalization of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide, the problem of the term 'assisted death with dignity', the recognition of the 'right to die', and the problem of unacceptable suffering. Regarding public opinion, recent research studies just shows that more people than before consider death as a matter of choice, rather than showing the public's active will for the legalization of death. But the term ‘assisted death with dignity’ is also causing confusion, and it seems to be difficult for the ‘right to die’ to receive public recognition from a society or state. In addition, there is a risk that the “unacceptable pain,” which the bill sets out as a condition for request for physician-assisted suicide, will be interpreted as existential pain or psychological pain, expanding the scope of those subject to physician-assisted suicide. Legislation of physician-assisted suicide will not only overlook the duty to protect the common good of life, but will also lead to various negative consequences. The requests for euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide should not be interpreted as actually requesting death, but as an opportunity for patients overwhelmed by pain to improve the quality of care through dialogue with medical staff and recover their autonomous subjectivity at the end of their lives. 지난 2022년 6월 15일 우리나라 최초로 의사조력자살(Physician assisted suicide)를 법제화하려는 법안이 발의되었다. 그리고 이 법안이 발의된 이후 사회적으로 다양한 논의가 활발하게 이어지고 있다. 법안 발의와 관련된 중요한 쟁점으로는 안락사와 의사조력자살의 법제화에 대한 국민들의 원의 판단 문제, ‘조력존엄사’라는 용어의 문제, ‘죽을 권리’의 인정 문제, 수용할 수 없는 고통의 문제들이 있다. 국민들의 의사와 관련해서 최근에 이루어진 설문 연구들은 안락사와 의사조력자살 법제화에 대한 국민들의 적극적인 의지 보다는 예전보다 더 많은 국민들이 죽음을 하나의 선택 사항으로 생각한다는 것을 보여줄 뿐이다. 그리고, ‘조력존엄사’라는 용어는 혼란을 일으키고 있고, ‘죽을 권리’는 한 사회나 국가로부터 공적인 인정을 받기는 어려운 것으로 보인다. 뿐만 아니라 법안이 의사조력자살의 대상자가 되는 조건으로 내세운 ‘수용하기 어려운 고통’ 역시 실존적 고통이나 심리적 고통 등으로 해석되어 의사조력자살 대상자의 범위가 확장될 위험도 있다. 의사조력자살의 법제화는 생명이라는 공동선에 대한 국가의 보호 의무를 간과할 뿐만 아니라, 이후 다양한 부정적 결과들을 초래할 것이다. 말기 환자의 안락사나 의사조력자살 요청은 실제로 죽음을 요청하는 것으로 해석되어서는 안 되며, 고통의 압도된 환자들이 의료진과의 대화를 통해서 돌봄의 질을 향상시키고 생의 말기에 자신의 자율적 주체성을 회복하는 기회로 삼아야 할 것이다.

        Solar Cyclic Modulation of Diurnal Variation in Cosmic Ray Intensity

        Cosmic rays are ions that move at relativistic speeds. They generate secondary cosmic rays by successive collisions with atmospheric particles, and then, the secondary particles reach the ground. The secondary particles are mainly neutrons and muons, and the neutrons are observed by the ground neutron monitor. This study compared the diurnal variation in cosmic ray intensity obtained via harmonic analysis and that obtained through the pile-up method, which was examined in a previous study. In addition, we analyzed the maximum phase of the diurnal variation using four neutron monitors with a cutoff rigidity below approximately 6 GV, located at similar longitudes to the Oulu and Rome neutron monitors. Expanding the data of solar cycles 20–24, we examined the time of the maximum cosmic ray intensity, that is, the maximum phase regarding the solar cyclic modulation. During solar cycles 20–24, the maximum phase derived by harmonic analysis showed no significant difference with that derived by the pile-up method. Thus, the pile-up method, a relatively straightforward process to analyze diurnal variation, could replace the complex harmonic analysis. In addition, the maximum phase at six neutron monitors shows the 22-year cyclic variation very clearly. The maximum phase tends to appear earlier and increase the width of the variation in solar cycles as the cutoff rigidity increases.

      • 태아 십이지장 내분비세포군집의 광학·주사전자현미경적 형태

        임신기 22주의 한국인 태아 그예를 대상으로 십이지장 점막에서의 장내분비세포군집에 대한 출현양상 및 형태를 광학현미경 및 주사전자현미경으로 관찰하고자 시료를 제작, 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과들을 얻었다. 장내분비세포군집들이 임신기 22주 태아에서 관찰되었다. 세포들의 군집형태는 장내강을 향해서는 오목한 형태였고, 기저막을 향해서는 볼록한 형태였다. 군집을 이룬 세포들은 중층을 이루었고, 술잔세포도 장내강쪽에서 일부 관찰되었다. 주사전자현미경을 이용한 결과에서는, 세포군집을 형성하는 융모는 드물게 관찰되었으며. 세포군집부분은 오목한 형태로 융모의 정점에서 다소 외측으로 비낀 위치에서 관찰되었고, 주위를 둘러싸는 세포들에서는 미세융모들의 줄무늬가장자리가 관찰되었으나 세포군집부분의 장내강표면에서는 많은 돌기 내지는 분비물의 과립들의 형태가 관찰되었다. To investigate the structural and scanning electron microscopic characteristics of the aggregations of enteroendocrine cells in the duodenal mucosae from 2 human fetuses of 22 weeks of gestation, paraffin and frozen section slides were employed. Slides were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, Azan, Gomori and scanning electron microscope was used to study the fine structures of the cell surfaces. The results obtained were as follows; The aggregations of enteroendocrine cells were observed in the fetuses of 22 weeks of gestation. The shapes of the cell aggregations were concaved toward gut lumen and convexd toward basal lamina. The cells of aggregation formed strata and Goblet cells were observed near the get luminal surface. Only a few cell aggregations were found in the duodenal villi and characteristic dent on the top of the villus shows the concave surface of the aggregation of enteroendocrine cells by scanning electron microscopic observation. The luminal surface of the cell aggregations was devoid of microvilli and variable sizes excretory membrane-bounded granules were observed.
