박시몬(Park Simon),이영수(Lee Young-Soo) 대한건축학회 2011 대한건축학회 학술발표대회 논문집 - 계획계/구조계 Vol.31 No.2(계획계)
A boundary is a meeting point of two different areas, that is to say, a point where something ends while another begins. This boundary, in architecture, act as a ‘limit of an area,’ and distinct areas are hard to find in contemporary society due to the complementary nature of areas, combination of programs, and development of complex area. Such phenomenon where boundaries become more ambiguous in contemporary architecture can be termed ‘blurred zone.’ Blurred zone, for the purpose of this research, refers to the ambiguity of boundaries ? the extinction and expansion of areas caused by blurry boundaries. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze cases of blurred zone in contemporary architecture and apply the result to designing active communication between areas.
