To study the structure of opposite wood in the angiosperms, samples were cut from stems and branchs of 10 spcies growing in Korea. The opposite side was defined as being along a line passing from the most wide annual ring of the tension wood on the upper side. to the pith and extrapolated through the opposite side. lateral sides being on the right and left of this line. The stem woods growing almost horizontally were surveyed the structural features of the well-developed opposite wood for the tension wood. In the annual-ring of the well-developed opposite woods, an investigation was made on haw the dimension of elements, microfibril angles, and cell wall layers change from tension side to opposite side. The structural characteristics of opposite wood in hardwoods realized in this study are as follows: 1. The vessel diameters increased continuously to ward the opposite side in which the values were maximum. The vessel length also increased toward opposite side, but the rates of increase were smaller than those in the vessel diameters. 2. The wood fiber length were decreased from tension toward opposite side, but the rates of decrement were flactuated within the sampled species. 3. The microfibril angles had the minimum values on the tension side, then increased steeply toward the opposite side in which the values maximum. 4. In the percentage of elements the vessel elements increased continously at a relative rate from the tension to opposite side, whereas the values of the wood fibers were lower in the opposite than the tension side, but the variation patterns of rays were not seem distinctly. 5. The component layers of the wood fiber in the opposite woods were very similar to the lateral woods.
촉매에서 점 격자결함과 소성온도가 촉매활성에 미치는 영향

LaCoO_(3)의 A점을 격자결함으로 치환한 촉매들의 CO산화반응에 대한 촉매활성을 비교검토함으로써 이를 촉매와 La_(0.95)Ce_(0.05)CoO_(3) 촉매의 활성점이 Co^(4+)이며 La_(0.95)Ce_(0.05)CoO_(3) 촉매에 섞여 있는 CeO_(2)는 조촉매로 작용하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 촉매의 소성온도를 높이면 격자산소결함의 생성으로 Co^(4+)가 소멸되기 때문에 촉매활성은 감소하였다. 그러나 이들 촉매는 SO_(2)에 의해 쉽게 피독되었으며 그 피독되는 정도는 A점 결함이 증가할수록, 저온에서 소성될수록 더 심하였다. In the CO oxidation reaction, we compared the activities of the catalysts which are partially vacant in the A site of LaCoO_(3). We concluded that the active centers of such catalysts and La_(0.95)Ce_(0.05)CoO_(3) are Co^(4+) ions. The CeO_(2) in the La_(0.95)Ce_(0.05)CoO_(3) catalyst acts as a promoter. The catalytic activities were decreased with increasing the calcination temperature due to the increment of the oxygen vacancy. But all the catalysts were largely deactivated by SO_(2) poisoning. The deactivation was more rapid in the lower-temperature calcined and higher A-site vacant catalysts.

This study is an numerical study of predicting the behavior of anchor embedded in weathered rocks, subjected to uplift loads, about ultimate pullout capacity and the failure mechanism. Factors influencing the behavior of anchors were investigated by reviewing the data about in0situ anchor tests performing numerical modelling with changing the bondage length of anchor, diameter of anchor body and diameter of tenden, and by Correlations between those factors were evaluated to apply them to predict the behavior of anchors. As results of numerical analysis, a linear relationship between bondage length, diameter of anchor body and diameter of tenden with ultimate pullout capacity was obtained on the one hand, from the result of numerical analysis changing the Young's modulus of weathered rock, this parameter was found to inflence to load-displacement and ultimate pullout capacity within the range of 10%, which was mot so significant to affect.

With the increases of the various wheels in the cities, a great deal of the exhaust-gases and the poisonous exhalations being produced with the use of the anthracites in all the houses and factories, have been manacing to our national health. In the laboratories of the most of the junior and senior high schools, the experimental methods being used up to now, have been also threatening the students' health, therefore I have seen that the improvement measures of the experimental methods as follows are safe in the tests of poisonous chloric gases, through a series of my experiments. 1) Before we begin the experiments, we must accurately calculate the volumes of the laboratories, and then get the amounts polluted by the poisonous gases of the safe amounts. 2) We have to calculate and analyze about the utensils of the experimental appratuses, the testing groups, the frequencies, and all sorts of the amounts of chemicals needed for the reaction which could be occurred the amounts polluted by the poisonous gases of the safe amounts. 3) The safe education in the experimental classes has to be avoided the abstract guidances and thoroughly guided with unity. Although I have tried to collect as many data as possible, I cannot but feel to be unsuffi-cient every time I examine again. But I beg only this experimental method will be contributed to the protection from the harmful gases.
初等科學敎育의 改善을 爲한 學習資料 開發과 보급에 對한 硏究

To grope a new method of science education, its effective management and creative policy of it have been studied at every primary school, the local commitee of education, the boards of education and the ministry of education for a long time and much actual results were given for encouragement of a new science education. After revision and proclaim of the curriculum of natural science, this writer has inspected the actual condition of verious apparatus exploition and its utilization and management for the establishment and science education at primary school with academic and scientists' circles in this province, and analysed the difficulties of teacher's teaching science at school synthetically and many problems were found. Therefore suggesting the way of the betterment by studying readjustment for them, this writer also studied to solve the problems about the development of new apparatus and its supply them to every school in this country and to help the development of new science education in this paper.

By the industrial development, the coal and oil as a fuel are used so much today. While they were burned, much energy will proceed from them and Carbon .and Sulfurdioxide, a poisonous gass, also proceed from them. Therefore as human health is threatened by them, many studies were going on for the problems, enlightment and counter-measure of public damage to the citizen today, but in the country by the development of farming and using of coal, as much poisonous gas proceeds from, the farmers' health also is threatened today. It is believed that the survey, enlightment and counter-measure on the atmospharic pollution are urgently needed. Therefore this writer intended to study on the prevention against decayed crops in the summer rainy season and on the thickness of a poititous air polluted in the crops drying rooms in the northern part of Kyungpook province, for the farmers' health threatend by the air condition and fuel system in their work in the simple crop drying rooms. At the same time, this writer suggests that the equipment and air condition in the drying rooms should be betterment in order to reduce the possible pullution amount of a poistitous air in the room and for them to work with easy and maitain their strong health for their hard work.

This paper examines proposals concerning the organization of a lexicon in Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar and Generalized Phrase Structure Grammar from a practical point of view. It discusses questions of how the theory of lexicon can be used in constructing an English dictionary, an English-Korean transfer dictionary, and a Korean dictionary as parts of an English-Korean machine translation system. It is shown that 'strong' lexicalism presupposed by the two Unification Grammars and feature structures expressed in attribute-value matrixes employed in the grammars make it possible to utilize the lexicon model in machine translation in a flexible manner.

There are many methods in the progress of Ethylene manufacture which is important as a raw material of Synthetic Chemistry Industry. In the laboratory, a concentrated sulfuric acid is usually operated in Ethyl alcohol, and let Ethylene be produced, but we have not got a clear standardization and there involve various obscure doubts till now. In this study, the author has efforted to research for the questions and the solutions as indicated in the below statements, through which the author could produce the output of much more Ethylene and the minimum sulfur dioxide poisonous to human body, and in the same time the author was able to experiment in the more stable conditions than usual. 1. To avoid the concentrated sulfuric acid of excessive quantity and the heating of high temperature in comparison with a certain quantity of Ethyl alcohol. 2. The result in the case of using Alumina among the various solid Acid Catalysts is most excellent. 3. To use the concentrated sulfuric Acid more than a certain standard of density.

The limestone caverns mainly occupy the natural caverns in Korea. Therefore the variety study of the cause of their formation, formation process, the distribution of pattern, the classification of pattern, and the geographical distribution are very important. The conclusions are as follows. 1. The formation of limestone caverns in Korea originated from the corrosion of limestone group which belonged to the large limestone series in Cambro-Ordovician period. 2. The distinctive pattern of limestone caverns in Korea is largely divided into horizontal caverns and vertical caverns. There are a few network type caverns, and tree type caverns but their utility value is little because of their small scales and less developed cavern landscape. 3. The limestone caverns which occupy 90 percent of natural caverns in Korea is creating beneath the surface of groundwater by the corrosion of ground water. 4. The geographical distribution of limestone caverns in Korea appears to be concentrately in the limestone region, such as the eastern part of South Pyungan province, the southern part of South Hamgyung, Hwanghae, the southern part of Kwangwon, the eastern part of North Chung Cheong, and the northern part of North Kyungpook. 5. Since the limestone caverns are much more beautiful compared to other natural caverns, they have the great value as tourist attractive places as well as fields of each discipline.
