다차원 분석 활용 대학생 영어 학습자 프레젠테이션 연구: 정보 전달과 설득 프레젠테이션을 중심으로

English oral presentation is a key target genre in speaking courses in Korean universities and an essential skill for foreign language major as well as for prospective job applicants. Achieving competitive proficiency of oral presentation is a demanding task for university students, as it is a genre that consists of both oral and written language skills. This study examines Korean learners’ script for oral presentation using Multi-dimensional analysis, a statistical technique. Two sub-genres, informative and persuasive genres are compared with speeches from two native corpora. The results show that, Korean English learners’ informative and persuasive presentation text were overall similar to each other with only a few differences in Dimension 4(overt expression of persuasion). Compared with native speakers’ speeches, Korean students’ speeches are found to be more involved in tone and more formal in style. Students use highly direct and explicit expressions and present their ideas in more abstract way. These findings can serve as fundamentals for describing the characteristics of Korean students’ English presentation as a genre and for identifying target genres for teaching oral presentation. 영어 프레젠테이션은 국내 대학의 영어 강의에서 다루는 주요 장르이자, 취업에도 요구되는 필수 역량이다. 그러나 수준 높은 프레젠테이션 수행에는 구어와 문어를 모두 다룰 수 있는 능력이 요구됨으로, 영어 학습자들에는 매우 어려운 일이다. 대학생들의 영어 프레젠테이션 능력 향상을 위한 기초연구의 일환으로, 본 연구는 한국 대학 영어 학습자들의 영어 프레젠테이션 원고를 다차원 분석이라는 통계 기법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 먼저 학생들이 작성한 두 종류의 프레젠테이션, 즉 정보 전달과 설득 프레젠테이션을 비교하고, 학생들의 프레젠테이션을 원어민 코퍼스의 연설(speeches) 및 다른 장르들과도 비교하였다. 그 결과, 학습자들의 정보 전달과 설득 프레젠테이션은 직접적인 설득 표현(차원 4)을제외하고 전반적으로 유사하였다. 그러나 원어민 코퍼스와 비교한 결과, 학습자들은 전반적으로 개인적인 어조가 강하면서도, 격식을 차린 스타일을 사용하였다. 또한 학습자들의 프레젠테이션에는 매우 직접적인 어투와 명시적인 지칭 표현이 사용되지만, 의견 전달 방식은 명료하기보다는 오히려 추상적인 경향이 있어서 발표가 전체적으로 어렵고 딱딱하게 들릴 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 한국 대학 영어 학습자들의 프레젠테이션 원고의 특성을 파악하기 위한 기초자료로, 그리고 영어 발표 수업에 참고 자료로 활용 할 수 있을 것이다.

Analysis of Thematic Structure in L2 Writing: A Systemic Functional Perspective

In academic writing, it is essential that the text is organized to convey information through the logical development of ideas. The key element of the logical structure is Theme, a textual unit that condenses known information and establishes grounds for further development. Although theme has long been researched in text and register analysis, it is an emerging area of research in L2 writing—mainly due to the lack of availability of large L2 corpora and a computational means. Using an automatic software program for analyzing thematic structure, this study investigates themes in essays written by Korean students in contrast to themes in data taken from the Michigan Corpus of Upper-level Student Papers (MICUSP), a 1.6 million-word corpus comprised of advanced academic papers. The themes in 138 essays written by Korean students were analyzed focusing on two learner variables: the academic discipline (humanities vs. science), and L2 proficiency. The results show a moderate difference in analysis of academic discipline, but highly significant differences in analysis of proficiency. The follow-up qualitative analysis found the limited repertoire of thematic choices in the essays written by Korean students. Based on this finding, the possible use of the theme in L2 writing research is discussed.

The discretized map with the 16-bit precision of saw-tooth function which is one of the 1-dimensional chaotic function is discretized, and then is designed in this paper. By way of application, the circuit design of chaotic binary sequence generator using this discritized saw-tooth map is presented also. The real implementation of the discretized saw-tooth map is accomplished by connecting the input variables to the corresponding output variables exactly, according to the simplified boolean functions obtained from the truth table which was discretized previously.

현대 위험사회는 질병·부상·도난·천재지변 등 각종 사회적 위험에 노출되었고 이러한 위험의 대비책으로 경제적 손실을 최소화할 수 있는 제도인 보험을 고안하였다.그러나 보험제도는 항상 순기능만 있는 것이 아니고 역기능적인 측면도 함께 지니고 있다. 즉, 보험을 둘러싼 이득의 추구는 도덕적 해이를 야기하고 이는 결국 각종 범죄의 양산으로 이어지며 그 피해규모와 강도 또한 심각한 사회적 문제로까지 인식되고 있는 실정이다. 보험사기가 금액뿐만 아니라 이와 관련된 범죄의 수도 기하급수적으로 늘어나고 있고 사기유형도 점점 지능화·조직화되고 있으며 연령대도 낮아지고 있는데 이에 대한 보험사기 예방은 점점 어려워지고 있다. 현재 보험사기는 보호법익 및 양형기준에 관한 문제점이 노출되어 私法的인 접근과 刑法的인 접근을 통한 규제입법이 제안되었지만 이에 대한 법개정은 아직 이루어지고 있지 않다. 현행법상 보험사기는 개인적 법익인 형법 제347조의 사기죄에 의해 처벌되고 있는데 이는 초개인적·사회적 법익을 침해한다는 점에서 개인적 재산범죄인 사기죄와 보호법익의 성격을 달리한다. 그러므로 보험사기에 관한 구성요건을 구체적으로 입법하자는 주장이 제기되고 있는데 형법에 신설하자는 견해, 보험업법에 신설하자는 견해, 특별법을 제정하자는 견해, 형법과 특별법 모두에 규정하자는 견해 등이 제시되고 있다. 독일은 범죄와 형벌에 관한 기본법인 형법 전에 보험남용죄를 신설하였다. 이는 구성요건과 법정형에 모순이 생길 수 있는 타법과의 적용혼란을 방지하고 규범력을 강화한다는 점에서 입법적 참고가 될 수 있다.또한 보험사기 개념의 정의 및 처벌에 관한 법적근거, 보험사기의 조사상의 근거 규정 등을 정비하여 선량한 다수의 보험계약자의 피해 및 생명과 신체를 위협하는 강력범죄로 이어지는 사회적 불안요인을 사전에 차단하는 제도적 장치가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 보험사기와 관련한 법제도적 문제점과 대책을 마련하고자 한다. Insurance is social system established to be compensated from economic loss and responsibility which are caused by accidental or unexpected events in social life. Insurance fraud which is a kind of anti-social crime can bring about moral hazard in a whole society and the eventual side effect of insurance fraud is enormous enough to shrink the insurance industry.In Korea, many kinds of insurance crimes have frequently occurred from property crime to solve economic difficulties to insurance fraud involving violent crimes such as murder to collect the insurance and these have been recognized as significant social problems to impede th social safety.Insurance fraud is regulated by the article 347 of Criminal Law, which regulating fraud. But the crime of insurance fraud should be stipulated in the Korean Criminal law, distinguishing it from the general crime of fraud. Also the legal authority of insurance fraud investigation company is strongly needed for the effective investigation. Therefore the current article 162 of the Insurance Business Act should be revised.
