Background: The mediastinum is the anatomic space which is restricted and the clinical aspect varies according to location, size and type of neoplasm. Diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to mediastinal neoplasms have changed over and over. We presented our recent therapeutic experiences with these neoplasms. The object and method: The 36 patients were treated in operation from 2000 until 2006. The male patients were 20 and the female patients were 16. Age of the patients ranged from 5 to 70, and the median age was $46.4{\pm}21.9$. The child patients were two. Result: The most prevalent anatomic distribution of the neoplasm was anterosuperior mediastinum. The most common neoplasm was thymoma, followed by thymic cyst, teratoma, ganglioneuroma. The complete excison of neoplasm was accomplished in 96% of patient group except thymoma patient group. One patient underwent total thymectomy, and the other 12 patients underwent extended thymectomy from 13 thymoma patient group. In the malignant neoplasm, 7 patients were received additional treatment after operation. There was short-term death of 1 person and late death of 1 person. Conclusion: Our results except clinical manifestation are compared favorably with other reports. Surgery is the management of choice for patients with mediastinal neoplasm and early curative resection is considered to optimize clinical outcome for patients.

This study is compressive trend through estimation of the compressive of DRA mortar in a state of BS mortar that cement is not used, and also compared it with the case using NFA in an analytical manner. As an analysis result, the improve early strength is than NFA in case of using DRA, but as the age passes by, the compressive showed a gradually slowed trend. In case of BS mortar, the estimation of the compressive and actual measurement showed a fine correlationship regardless of kinds of fine aggregate. At last, the case using DRA mortar shows improved strength in a low strength range of less than around 20 MPa, compared to NFA, so its valid utilization in a low strength domain was expected.

This study reviewed the quality enhancement effect depending on fine particle cement(FC) replacement ratios in order to review the applicability of blast furnace slag powder(BS) based recycled aggregates(RA) mortar in a general strength range, whose results can be summarized as follows: First of all, the flow increased as the FC contents increased because the BS and FC particles as well as RA create a continuous particle distribution, and the air contents also increased as the mix proportion and the FC contents increased. The compressive strength was highest at FC 80 % for mix proportion 1 : 2, at FC 60 % for mix proportion 1 : 4 and at FC 20 % for mix proportion 1 : 7 depending on FC contents, being higher at low FC contents as the mix proportion increased in the end. The flexural strength was generally similar to the compressive strength, and the pH characteristics increased due to alkali components of FC as the FC contents increased regardless of the mix proportion. As an efficient utilization plan of BS based RA mortar in a general strength range of 20∼30 ㎫, using it by replacing FC with BS in a 40∼80 % range at a mortar mix proportion 1 : 4 can be an efficient, eco-friendly and economical production method of secondary concrete products such as cement mortar blocks, reinforced retaining wall lamination blocks, etc.
