        복숭아 젤리의 품질에 혼합 겔화제 첨가량이 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of peach jelly following the addition of various gelling agents (locust bean gum, carrageenan, xanthan gum). The various gelling agents were added to peach jelly at five levels (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0%), after which their effects on physicochemical properties, textural properties and sensory qualities were investigated. The total titratable acidity (TTA) of peach jelly was decreased with increases in gelling agent. Additionally, the sweetness and pH of peach jelly increased significantly as the amount of various gelling agents increased. Moreover, the lightness (L-value), redness (a-value) and yellowness (b-value) of peach jelly was decreased as the amount of gelling agent. Furthermore, the hardness, gumminess and chewiness of the peach jelly increased as the amount of gelling agent increased. Finally, the overall acceptance was higher for jelly containing 2.0% added gelling agent than for other samples. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that mixed gelling agents be added to peach jelly at 2.0%.

        Preserved Hippocampal Glucose Metabolism on 18F-FDG PET after Transplantation of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Chronic Epileptic Rats

        Human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) may be a promising modality for treating medial temporal lobe epilepsy. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) is a noninvasive method for monitoring in vivo glucose metabolism. We evaluated the efficacy of hUCB-MSCs transplantation in chronic epileptic rats using FDG-PET. Rats with recurrent seizures were randomly assigned into three groups: the stem cell treatment (SCT) group received hUCB-MSCs transplantation into the right hippocampus, the sham control (ShC) group received same procedure with saline, and the positive control (PC) group consisted of treatment-negative epileptic rats. Normal rats received hUCB-MSCs transplantation acted as the negative control (NC). FDGPET was performed at pre-treatment baseline and 1- and 8-week posttreatment. Hippocampal volume was evaluated and histological examination was done. In the SCT group, bilateral hippocampi at 8-week after transplantation showed significantly higher glucose metabolism (0.990 ± 0.032) than the ShC (0.873 ± 0.087; P < 0.001) and PC groups (0.858 ± 0.093; P < 0.001). Histological examination resulted that the transplanted hUCB-MSCs survived in the ipsilateral hippocampus and migrated to the contralateral hippocampus but did not differentiate. In spite of successful engraftment, seizure frequency among the groups was not significantly different. Transplanted hUCBMSCs can engraft and migrate, thereby partially restoring bilateral hippocampal glucose metabolism. The results suggest encouraging effect of hUCB-MSCs on restoring epileptic networks.

        조선시대 궁중정재복식의 디자인 요소와 특성

        Royal court dancing costumes in the Joseon Dynasty was very classy and splendid. Therefore documentary records, paintings and relics were used as research material to uncover the historical changes of jeonak, akgong, yeoryeong, donggi, mudong, and Cheoyong’s costumes. Next, design elements and characteristics were analyzed to adapt for Korean fashion design. Research analysis of the design elements, such as line, form, color, material, and pattern, is as follows; First, the harmony of tranquility and movement and the effect of overlap and slit are found. Second, contrast color of red and green and the color matching principle of the five cardinal colors are understood. Third, unique materials and patterns are creatively used. Research analysis of the design characteristics is as follows; First, philosophical symbolism, cheonwonjibang and the five elements theory for example, is discovered in Cheoyong and mudong’s costumes. Second, experimental formative, such as decoration used plane and three-dimensional method simultaneously, is found in akgong’s costumes. Third, understated simplicity is observed in extremely refined jeonak and donggi’s costumes. The aesthetics of traditional costume and formative principle are suggested through further research. Establishment of identity of Korean design and development of unique design will be possible if follow-up study is accumulated. 조선시대 궁중정재복식은 궁중문화의 품격과 잔치의 화려함을 특징으로 하였다. 이에 문헌기록과 회화, 관련 유물을 연구자료로 삼아 전악ㆍ악공ㆍ여령ㆍ동기ㆍ무동ㆍ처용의 복식에 대해 역사적 고찰을 진행하고 디자인 요소와 특성을 분석함으로써 한국적 패션 디자인에 활용하고자 하였다. 디자인 요소와 특징으로는 첫째, 선과 형태 요소에서는 끈을 활용한 동기복식의 정(靜)과 동(動)의 조화, 트임 사이로 보이는 중첩된 옷의 색상 대비로 인한 겹침과 트임의 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 색채 요소에서는 홍ㆍ록의 보색대비와 오방색을 세련되게 조화시키는 배색원리를 확인하였다. 셋째, 소재와 문양 요소에서는 참신한 재료와 문양의 도입으로 창의성을 발휘하였다. 디자인 특성으로는 첫째, 철학적 상징성은 처용복식의 천원지방사상과 음양오행사상, 무동복식의 음양의 조화에서 찾았다. 둘째, 실험적 조형성은 평면과 입체방식을 동시에 사용한 악공의 꽃장식, 착용으로 완성되는 처용복식의 방슬 장식, 동기의 다중감각적 복식에서 찾았다. 셋째, 절제된 단순성으로는 극도로 제한하여 품위를 높인 전악복식과 동일색상배색으로도 조형미를 추구한 동기복식을 들 수 있었다. 이상의 연구를 통해 전통 복식미와 조형원리를 제시하였다. 궁중의 신분별 복식을 대상으로 한 후속연구의 축적을 통해 한국인의 기저에 흐르는 미적 감각과 추구이점을 이해하고 여기에 세계적인 트렌드를 접목시켜 한국 디자인의 정체성을 찾고 고유의 디자인을 개발하고자 한다.

        조선시대 군사복식의 디자인과 조형적 특성

        Military costumes have long had a strong influence on fashion design. The purpose of this study is to analyze the design and identify the characteristics of military costumes in the Joseon dynasty to adapt these for Korean fashion design. For this reason, documentary records, paintings and relics were used as research material. Armor design provided increased motional flexibility through slits and the arrangement of rivets was symbolic. Decorations included images like dragons and the phoenix, and were developed based on five-elements color. Gunbok was active wear because of its various slits and variable design. It was multipurpose functional clothing, pursued through decorative patterns and the five-elements colors of fabric. Yungbok secured an activity space via skirt pleats, and featured a variable design with detachable sleeves. The hat was gorgeously decorative thanks to its material and ornaments. Clothes with a squared neckline or a shorter back had diverse designs and were showy items. The analysis of the formative characteristics is as follows: First, structural activity, an indispensable condition, is the structure provided for enhancing the activity. Second, variable functionality is the characteristic of providing different functions to change the type and purpose. Third, decorative aesthetics aim to increase the external grandeur of military generals and soldiers. Fourth, social symbolism was found in the costume’s expression of the regiment through the five-elements colors, and the arrangement of rivets, which had shamanistic symbolism. 역사적으로 군사복식이 패션디자인에 미친 영향은 상당히 컸기에 본 연구에서는 조선시대 군사복식의 유물ㆍ문헌ㆍ회화자료를 가지고 디자인을 분석하고 조형적 특성을 추출함으로써 한국적 패션디자인 개발에 기여하고자 한다. 갑주(甲冑)는 트임으로 활동성을 높이고 두정 배열 속에 상징성이 있었으며 용과 봉황문양을 최고의 공예기술로 장식하였고 오방색(五方色)을 기본으로 전개한 디자인이다. 군복(軍服)은 트임이 많아서 활동적이고 가변적인 디자인이며 다목적의 기능성 의복으로 직물 문양과 오방색의 배색을 통해 장식성을 추구했다. 융복(戎服)은 치마주름으로 활동공간을 확보하고 소매가 탈착가능한 가변적 디자인이며, 주립의 재료와 장식으로 장식성이 강하였다. 방령(方領)과 전장후단(前長後短)의 옷을 중심으로 본 기타 무관복식은 디자인의 변화 폭이 넓은 의복이고 직물로 보아 화려함을 과시했던 장식적인 디자인이었다. 조형적 특성은 다음의 네 가지로 종합할 수 있다. 첫째, 구조적 활동성은 군사복식의 필수조건으로서 동작을 방해하지 않고 활동성을 높이기 위한 구조이다. 둘째, 가변적 기능성은 형태나 용도를 바꾸어 다른 기능을 수행하는 특성이다. 셋째, 심미적 장식성은 장군과 군사의 대외적 위용을 높이기 위해 필요한 요소이다. 넷째, 사회적 상징성은 오방색으로 소속부대를 표현하는 복식과 주술적 상징 의미를 담은 두정의 배열에서 발견되었다.

        Plasma neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin as a potential predictor of adverse renal outcomes in immunoglobulin A nephropathy

        Background/Aims: Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) is a wellknown biomarker of acute kidney injury. We evaluated the value of plasma NGAL (pNGAL) as an independent predictor of prognosis in immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN). Methods: In total, 91 patients with biopsy-proven IgAN at a single center were evaluated. pNGAL was measured using a commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit (R&D Systems). Adverse renal outcome was defined as chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 3 or above at the last follow-up. Pearson correlation coefficient and Cox regression were used for analyses. Results: The mean age of all patients (male:female, 48:43) was 35 years (range, 18 to 77). pNGAL ranged between 21.68 and 446.40 ng/mL (median, 123.97) and showed a correlation with age (r = 0.332, p = 0.001), creatinine (r = 0.336, p = 0.001), estimated glomerular filtration rate (r = –0.397, p < 0.001), uric acid (r = 0.289, p = 0.006), and the protein-to-creatinine ratio (r = 0.288, p = 0.006). During a mean follow-up period of 37.6 months, 11 patients (12.1%) had CKD stage 3 or above. In a multivariate Cox regression model, hypertension (hazard ratio [HR], 8.779; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.526 to 50.496; p = 0.015), proteinuria > 1 g/day (HR, 5.184; 95% CI, 1.124 to 23.921; p = 0.035), and pNGAL (HR, 1.012; 95% CI, 1.003 to 1.022; p = 0.013) were independent predictors associated with adverse renal outcome. Conclusions: pNGAL showed strong correlations with other clinical prognostic factors and was also an independent predictor of adverse renal outcome. We suggest pNGAL as a potential predictor for prognosis in IgAN, while further studies are needed to confirm the clinical value.

        Endodontic Treatment: A Significant Risk Factor for the Development of Maxillary Fungal Ball

        Objectives. The risk factors for maxillary fungal ball are largely unknown. The aim of this study was to determine whether endodontic treatment of maxillary teeth is a risk factor for fungal ball development in the maxillary sinus, and to identify other possible risk factors. Methods. One hundred and twelve case patients diagnosed with maxillary fungal ball (FB group) and age and gender matched control patients diagnosed with chronic paranasal rhinosinusitis (PNS group) were included to determine associations between previous endodontic treatment and maxillary fungal ball. In addition, we reviewed the dental extraction status of maxillary teeth and the underlying disease in both groups to analyze the other risk factors for maxillary fungal ball. Results. There were 36.3% of patients in the FB group and 16.1% in the PNS group showed evidence of endodontic treatment on the maxillary teeth (P<0.001). Even after correction for possible confounding factor - the frequency of dental extractions - the rate of endodontic treatment remained higher in the FB group. The mean number of endodontically treated maxillary teeth in the FB group and PNS group were 0.63 and 0.27, respectively (P=0.001). In addition,20.5% of the patients in the FB group and 13.4% in the PNS group has diabetes mellitus (P=0.154). Conclusion. Endodontic treatment on maxillary teeth was a significant risk factor for the development of fungal balls in the maxillary sinus.

        전자게시판과 페이스북 공간이 영어 글쓰기와 동료 피드백 교환 양상에 미치는 영향

        This study explores how Korean high school students write English short essays in internet-based writing spaces. Participants consist of 12 Korean high school students. Among them, four students as a control group wrote two short essays with a paper and pencil at the beginning and end of the data collection procedure. Along with the two pre- and post- writing, the other eight students wrote for four more weeks either in an internet bulletin board or in facebook using a computer. They posted short essays online and exchanged peer feedback. The results indicates that the facebook writers exchanged more feedback with more peers compared to the bulletin board writers, suggesting that facebook could facilitate student interactions. However, the facebook writers showed the tendency to write less. Their online essays included fewer arguments and supporting details, and often omitted background and closing statements. The facebook writers' post-essays remained shorter in length and simpler in organization than their pre-essays as well as the other two groups' paper-pencil ones. The bulletin board writers, however, did not show any visible differences between their online and paper-pencil essays. Overall the study results suggest that different online writing spaces may differentially influence the ways that English learners write online, and English learners' online writing practices may also influence their later paper-pencil writing. Suggestions for future research and teaching of English writing are provided as well.

        Inhibitory Effect of Dendrobium moniliforme on NO and IL-$1{\beta}$ Production in LPS-stimulated Macrophages

        석곡은 난초과의 여러해살이풀 Dendrobium moniliforme의 지상부를 건조한 것으로 예로부터 양위생진(養胃生津), 자음제열(滋陰除熱) 등의 효능이 있어 해열, 진통의 작용과 위액분비 촉진, 혈압강하의 작용이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 석곡의 항염증 작용 기전을 알아보기 위하여 석곡 열수추출물을 대식세포주에 처리하여 NO 및 IL-$1{\beta}$의 생성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. LPS로 자극된 대식세포주 RAW264.7 세포에서 석곡은 NO 및 IL-$1{\beta}$ 생성과 iNOS 단백질 발현을 저해하였으며, LPS에 의해서 활성화되는 ERK, p38, JNK 효소의 활성을 현저히 억제하였다. 이 결과들로 보아 석곡의 항염증 작용이 MAPK 활성 저해로 인한 NO 및 IL-$1{\beta}$ 생성의 억제 때문인 것으로 사료된다.
