        정서지능과 직업인의 성취의 관계 및 그 문화적 차이에 관한 연구

        Recent studies in cultural psychology have found that cultural orientation greatly impacts emotional expressions, as well as how one perceives oneself. This study examines whether or not Emotional Intelligence (EI) is dependent on national culture by finding significant variances between emotional responses from 160 employees (80 from the U.S., and 80 from Korea) in a given situation. This study also aims to determine whether individual performance is impacted by EI and if so, whether EI can be used as a predictor of performance. In addition, by examining the relationships between EI and various other demographic variables, the results of this study affirm that emotional intelligence is impacted by age, gender, and educational level.

        Building CSR through Organizational Acts of Compassion

        Our study builds up a theoretical model to explain how individual compassion in organizations affects the macro concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR). A theoretical framework conceptualizes whereby individual compassions in work organizations responding to others’ suffering generate positive or negative organizational identity, which impact their CSR activities. That is, we proposes that authentic compassion will develop positive organizational identity and then leads to proactive CSR, while pseudo compassion will trigger negative organizational identity and in turn results in reactive CSR. This study aims to explain the antecedents of firms’ CSR in terms of individual compassion in organizations, interacted with the dynamics of organizational identity.

        Estimation of greenhouse CO2 concentration via an artificial neural network that uses environmental factors

        In order to improve photosynthesis efficiency and crop growth, it is important to predict CO2concentration as well as CO2consumption in greenhouses. The objective of this study was to predict greenhouse CO2concentration via an artificial neuralnetwork (ANN) that incorporated environmental factors. Temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation,and CO2concentration were measured every 10 min over a 6-month period in a greenhouse located in Boryeong, Korea. Measured environmental data were used to train the ANN. Among the 14,866 data points used in the experiment, 10,000and 4866 data points were used for training and testing, respectively. An ANN with an input layer with input neurons, twohidden layers with 32–2048 neurons, and an output later with one neuron was selected. A rectified linear unit was used asthe activation function in each node of the ANN. An ANN structure that included 256 neurons in the hidden layers showedthe highest test accuracy (R2 = 0.97) was selected from all the structures, while multivariate linear regression showed lowertest accuracy than the ANN (R2 = 0.78). The ANN accurately estimated CO2concentration in the greenhouse using big datafor changing patterns of the inside environmental factors without vent position data. Furthermore, it is possible to estimatecrop CO2consumption in greenhouses with this ANN using the change in greenhouse CO2concentration.

        문화와 정서지능 : 정서지능과 문화적 거리의 관계를 중심으로

        본 연구는 문화와 정서지능과의 의존관계를 정립하여 정서지능 연구에 새로운 시각을 부여하려고 했다. 본 연구의 전제는 개인정서의 지각, 평가, 표현, 이해, 조절 등이 문화에 크게 영향을 받기 때문에 인간의 다양한 정서 프로세스를 기초로 개발된 정서지능 역시 문화에 많은 영향을 받는다는 것이다. 본 논문은 문화가 정서지능에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해서 미국과 한국의 직장인을 대상으로 정서지능을 측정한 후, 정서지능과 문화의 의존관계를 실험하였다. 주어진 상황 아래서 정서적 반응이 문화 간 다양한 변화를 보인다는 것을 입증함으로서 정서지능이 문화에 의존한다는 것을 보였다. 또한, 본 연구는 Bar-On Emotional Quotient-Inventory (EQ-i)의 2차 데이터를 사용하여 13개국의 19,402명의 정서지능과 문화적 거리의 관계를 조사하였다. 연구결과로서 Hofstede의 문화차원 중 권력의 거리 (power distance)만이 정서지능에 유의미한 결과를 보였다. This study focuses on the workplaces of two distinct nations, the United States and Korea, to ascertain the impact of culture on emotional intelligence (EI). This paper examines if EI is dependant on culture by finding significant variances of emotional responses under a given situation. The results suggest that EI is significantly impacted by national culture. In addition, this study investigates the relationship between cultural distance and EI by using the secondary data of 19,402 participants across 13 nations. The results demonstrate that only power distance among Hofstede’s dimensions has significant effect on EI.

        The Impacts of Language Proficiency, Emotional Intelligence, and International Experience on Cultural Intelligence

        The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the conceptual foundation of cultural intelligence (CQ) as well as the relationships between CQ and its antecedents. This study empirically examined whether cultural intelligence (CQ) could be developed through high proficiency in a host-country language, possessions of high levels of emotional intelligence (EQ), and the length of international experience. Results demonstrated that language proficiency, emotional intelligence, and international experience predicted overall CQ, with differential relationships for the four dimensions of CQ. More specifically, both language proficiency and emotional intelligence were positively related to all four facets of CQ (metacognitive, cognitive, motivational and behavioral CQ) while international experience were positively related to metacognitive, motivational, and behavioral CQ.

        This paper deals with the practical ways of conducting culture management in modern organizations, which involves management by vision and philosophy, emotional leadership interlinked with organizational culture, management of design and brand, and culture marketing. In order to successfully practice culture management, corporate identity(CI) should be clearly defined in the first place, which reflects vision and philosophy of an organization. The CEO's leadership style is an essential part of corporate culture that determines 'the color and the tone' of an organization. From culture management, today's organizations facilitate culture marketing by satisfying the customers' emotional and savvy needs. In short, this paper attempts to link culture and each business function.

        Prediction of CO2 Concentration via Long Short-Term Memory Using Environmental Factors in Greenhouses

        In greenhouses, photosynthesis efficiency is a crucial factor for increasing crop production. Sinceplants use CO2 for photosynthesis, predicting CO2 concentration is helpful for improving photosyntheticefficiency. The objective of this study was to predict greenhouse CO2 concentration using a longshort-term memory (LSTM) algorithm. In a greenhouse where mango trees (Mangifera indica L. cv. Irwin) were grown, temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, atmospheric pressure, soiltemperature, soil humidity, and CO2 concentration were measured using complex sensor modules. Nine sensors were installed in the greenhouse. The averages of environmental factors from the ninesensors were used as inputs, and the average CO2 concentration was used as an output. In thisexperiment, LSTM, one of the recurrent neural networks, predicted changes in CO2 concentrationfrom the present to 2 h later using historical data. The data were measured every 10 min fromFebruary. 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018, and missing data were interpolated with a linear method andmultilayer perceptron. In this study, LSTM predicted the 2-h change in CO2 concentrations at aninterval of 10 min with adequate test accuracy (R2 = 0.78). Therefore, the trained LSTM can be usedto predict the future CO2 concentration and applied to efficient CO2 enrichment for photosynthesisenhancement in greenhouses.
