담색국화잎지의류 추출물의 폴리페놀, 플라보노이드 함량 및 항산화 활성 탐색

Lichens are complex microorganisms in which fungi (mycobionts) and algae (photobionts) live in symbiosis by forming limbs. Most of the fungi that make up lichens, such as the Burleighi, are asymptomatic fungi, accounting for almost 99% of all known lichen species. In this study, polyphenol content, flavoid content, and antioxidant activity were investigated to inquire the possibility of Xanthoparmelia meximcana as a cosmetic material. Total polyphenol contents were calculated to be 500 μg/mL and four antioxidant assays whereas DPPH, ABTS, and hydroxyl radical scavenging were performed resulting in the range of 50-500 μg/mL (IC50). All four fractions showed no cytotoxicity up to the concentration of 100 μg/mL by MTT assay. The Xanthoparmelia meximcana would be a valuable asset for many applications, including cosmetic products.

The degrees of aspiration in Korean [ㅅ] and [ㅆ] were measured in terms of VOT. The measurements were compared to the aspiration in Korean stops and affricates. It was shown that [ㅅ] should be classified as an 'aspirated' sound with Korean aspirated stops and affricates [$p^h, {\;}t^h, {\;}k^h, {\;}t{\int}$], contrary to the traditional classification of the sound as unaspirated. [ㅆ] was confirmed to be in the same group as other Korean 'tense' sounds. It was pointed out that there was a gap in the typology of Korean consonants. The gap was created by the lack of the unaspirated counterpart of [ㅅ]. It was suggested that an extinct Korean sound [$\triangle$] be considered as a possible candidate for the gap. Also a perception test was suggested for the further acoustical analysis of Korean [ㅅ] and [ㅆ].

The purpose of this study was to investigate and quantitatively describe the acoustic characteristics of current Korean monophthongs. Recordings were made of 33 men and 27 women producing the vowels /i, e, ${\epsilon}$, a, ${\partial}$, o, u, i/ in a carrier phrase "This character is ___." A listening test was conducted in which 19 participants judged each vowel. F1, F2, and F3 were measured from the vowels judged as intended vowels by more than 17 people from the listening test. Analysis of formant data shows some interesting results including the undeniable confirmation of the 7-vowel system in modern Korean. It turns out that quite different sounding Korean vowels and English vowels happen to have very similar formant measurements. Also the difference between "citation-form reading" vs. "natural utterance reading" is discussed.

In this study evidence is presented for the effectiveness of tracking to improve EFL learners’ speaking competency. EFL speaking fluency can be assessed in various aspects, among which we focus on pronunciation (in particular, suprasegmental features). We used the tracking technique by which the subjects listen to a recorded material and repeat it modeling the native speaker’s pronunciation in every aspect. We hypothesized that tracking could help learners improve the naturalness of their pronunciation, which can be analyzed in terms of the key factors such as general impression, segmental pronunciation, stress/intonation, speech rate, and thought group. The experimental group of Korean adult EFL learners were required to do nine tracking tasks during one semester, and three native English teachers evaluated the subjects’ speaking, focusing on their pronunciation. Both the experimental group and the control group took a pretest and a posttest, and the results were compared through statistical analyses. We found that the experimental group of Korean adult EFL learners significantly outperformed the control group in the key factors of pronunciation. We argue that tracking is a verified and desirable method to improve EFL speaking fluency.
말린눈썹지의(Parmotrema reticulatum) 추출물을 이용한 모발 염색성

This study was performed on decolorized hair under various conditions – dye concentration, temperature, time, pH - using pigment extract obtained from Parmotrema reticulatum. The dyeing properties of dyed hair were measured by Lightness(L*), redness(a*), yellowness(b*), color difference and K/S value. As the result, the highest dyeing property was observed at 75%, 40oC temperature, 60 minutes and pH 12. In the case of using mordant, Fe showed higher dyestuff than Al, Fe and Mn. Hunter color of dyed hair showed yellow and red dye in non-mordant but Cu showed yellow and green yellow. These results suggest that the pigment extracts obtained from Parmotrema reticulatum may be useful for the development of natural hair dyeing products.
