This study confirmed fuel character and spray condition when using emulsified fuel with ultrasonic fuel input system. Several conclusions come out as followings. 1. Super separation phenomenon is appeared when the water content is small and the more ultrasonic energy is applied with long time. 2. As the water contents increases, it increases 7% surface tension with 1.6% increase of water and caloric value was 88% of pure Diesel-oil which is raving propriety as fuel. 3. The chemical character was about 17% in the case of mixing boundary active liquid, while distribution rate was 10%, which was the result used NMR analysis method. 4. Spray diameter reduces by 3% with applied ultrasonic energy. As water content is increased by 5, 10%. the diameter is increased compared with the pure Diesel-oil by 15.6%, 20%.
Diesel-Diglyme 混合燃料가 디젤엔진의 性能에 미치는 影響

While the amount of diesel engine is increasing, the harmful exhaust emission is regarded as one of the main causes of environment pollution. In this study, by using reformulated diesel fuel mixed with the oxygenate Diglyme in various ratios, the effects of the reformulations on engine's output performance and exhaust emission have been shown. The reformulated fuel mixed with oxygenate Diglyme shows an increase in output power while CO and SMOKE were lowered by using the regular diesel fuel. By applying the mixed Diglyme fuel to diesel engine, in general, some reduction of harmful exhaust emission could be achieved without any significant change of the output efficiency of the engine.

Under the compressive loads, tensile stress fields are possibly induced according to the boundary condition of compressed body. At the crack tip, the possibility of occurance of tensile stress fields are strong even under the compressive loads. In this paper, the fracturing behavior of brittle materials containing crack are investigated and the compressive strength affected by crack clearance are inspected theoretically and experimentally. Upon the theoretical and experimental results, it is found that compressive strength is decreased as the crack clearance is increased.

Process design of hot forging, asymmetric to symmetric rail steel, which is used for the turnout of railway express has been investigated. Owing to the big difference in shape between the initial billet and the final forged product, it is impossible to hot forge the rail in a single step. Therefore, multi step forging as well as die design for each step are necessary for the production. The deformation behavior during hot forging has been analyzed by the numerical simulation through commercial FEA software, DEFORMTM-2D. Modification of the design and repeated simulation have been carried out on the basis of the simulation result. For comparison with the simulation results, flow analysis experiment using plasticine has been also carried out. The results of the flow analysis experiment showed good agreement with those of the simulation. Therefore, the developed process design could be applied to the actual production.
A simple method to compute a periodic solution of the poisson equation with no boundary conditions

We consider the Poisson equation where the functions involved are periodic including the solution function. Let be the region of interest and let be an arbitrary periodic function defined in the region such that satisfies for all . We describe a very simple method for solving the equation based on the cubic spline interpolation of ; using the requirement that each interval is a multiple of the period in the corresponding coordinates, the Laplacian operator applied to the cubic spline interpolation of can be replaced by a square matrix. The solution can then be computed simply by multiplying by the inverse of this matrix. A description on how the storage of nearly a Giga byte for nodes, equivalent to a matrix is handled by using the fuzzy rule table method and a description on how the shape preserving property of the Laplacian operator will be affected by this approximation are included.

An experimental study on the effects of exhaust pipe curvature on the performance of a diesel engine is presented. The experiments were carried out on a 4-cycle, 216 c.c diesel engine and two types of pipe curvature, circular arc and rectangle, were tested. The shaft output, shaft torque and specific fuel consumption were obtained by inserting bent pipes of different dimensions into the exhaust pipe at various engine operation conditions. It was found that the engine performance was decreased by the circular arc bent pipe and the effects were dominated by its arc angle. The decrease of engine performance was minimized by the arc angle of 180.deg.. By the rectangle pipes the performance was more decreased and the effects were little influenced by its dimensions. 본 논문은 참고문헌 (13)의 "디이젤 엔진에서 배기관의 굴곡도가 배기소음에 미치는 영향"에 대한 연구에 있어서 배기관의 굴곡성이 엔진성능에 미치는 영향에 대해서 실험적 방법을 통하여 구명하는데 있다. 따라서 4기통, 배기량 2,164cc의 디이젤 엔진을 사용하였으며, 굴곡의 형태는 원호형과 직각형의 두 경우에 대해서 실험하였다. 엔진의 운전조건은 일반적 사용 범위인 회전속도 1,200~3,200rpm드로 틀 밸브 개도25-100% 구간으로 잡고 곡관부의 형상치수를 변화시키며 부하, 흡기압력, 연료소비량, 배기온도 및 압력등을 측정하고 이것으로 부터 축출력, 축토오크, 연료소 비율을 계산하여 이를 상호비교 검토함으로써 곡관부의 형상치수가 엔진성능에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다.영향을 고찰하였다.
