        The effect of ultrasonic treatment on the flocculation of phosphate slimes was studied. The calcium bearing precipitates adversely affected the process by flocculating the mineral suspension in the flocculation process. The adverse effect was found to be more pronounced in the excess of calcium ion. The chemical control of surface precipitation of calcium ion by sodium silicate was effective. The ultrasonic treatment of the phosphate pulp was proposed as an alternative for economical reasons. The control of surface precipitation of the quartz surface was studied and compared. The zeta potential values showed that the ultrasonic treatment was promising for controlling calcium bearing precipitates.

        The separation of low grade copper minerals by LIX type chelating agent was investigated. The pure copper oxide, cuprite, was upgraded using microflotation technique. The adsorption of LIX on an cuprite by forming a surface chelate on the mineral surface and thereby promoting flotation. The adsorption efficiency was strongly pH and time dependent. The flotation of cuprite with LIX correlated well with amount of surface chelate as a function of conditioning time and an alkaline pH ranges. The characteristics of a LIX on to a cuprite in the current adsorption-flotation process are the availability of functional groups capable of forming stable surface chelates with the leading cations of cuprite and, a hydrophobic nature as a LIX.

      • 응집과 정밀여과공정을 이용한 휴폐광산의 배수 정화에 관한 연구

        Heavy metals from the abandoned mines are the major pollutants in the water streams. They are not only toxic but also non biodegradable. A combine process by flocculation and MF processes was investigated for the process of abandoned mine effluents. The isoelectric point(iep) of mined soil was at near pH 5. The flocculant, PAA, alone could not remove SS and heavy metals effectively. The combination process, however, remove SS and heavy metals successfully. Mine effluents and MF membrane reacted electrostatically. The particles of mine effluents affected the surface potentials of the membrane and also the separation efficiencies. The results of the zeta potentials and the flux measurements may imply that the removal of heavy metals was directly related to the surface potentials mine effluents and membrane.

        A study was aimed for the utilization of the domestic nonmetallic minerals for beneficiation. The nonmetallic minerals of the convenient concern are the kaoline, feldspar, talc, and limstone. The four minerals for utilization are needed for the conventional grinding and the subsequent treatment The particles and the ultrafine particles from minerals are conveniently utilized widely for many industrial applications.

      • 이형상 분리에 의한 우라늄의 선택적 회수

        The investigation was initiated with the selective recovery of uranium by aqueous biphasic separation technique. The uranium was recovered successfully with polyethylene glycol(PEG) phase. Colloidal size particles that are suspended in an aqueous biphase system was partitioned to one of the phases, depending on a complex balancing of particle interaction with surrounding solvent. The biphase systems are similar to convtltional solvent extraction which nomially apply to the waste treatment. The PEG/salt aqueous biphasic separation technique may provide a pottltial new technique for uranium recovery because all components of systems are efficient as well as virtually nontoxic and nonflammable. In addition, the water so uble polymers that have been used in a biphasic formation is inexpensive and biodegradable.

        The electrochemical leaching process was proposed for the recovery of copper ash from an industrial wastes. The electrochemical leaching process revealed an active involvement in understanding of ieaching mechanism and a sucessful application for the recovery of copper. In this paper, the possibility for the electrochemical process to be undertaken copper fines was proposed and discussed with practical processes.

        Research on dextrin as a magnetite depressant was conducted in the cationic silica flotation of magnetite taconite concentrates. Micro flotation test results revealed that dextrin did function as a selective depressant for pure magnetite. However, the poor selectivity of flotation separation in the presence of dextrin was obtained when magnetite was mixed with non magnetite fraction in the magnetic taconite concentrates. This is mainly attributable to the presence of silicate minerals in the nonmagnetic fraction on the magnetic taconite concentrates.

      • 다양한 직접 제련 공정의 기본 기술에 관한 연구

        This study briefly summarized the advanced technologies related to various direct smelting processes developed.. Direct smelting processes have been developed as an alternative to blast furnace processes for the production of molten slag free iron. Most of the processes developed so far are still in the development phase, and some are still in the concept phase, so mass production has not yet been completed. Many smelters remain at the stage of producing superior product quality under various process conditions, so the stated parameters may not yet be fixed. The development of steelmaking is to produce iron oxides, preferably low grade iron ore and / or small amounts of high temperature metals without pelletizing. In the foreseeable future due to lack of competitiveness, the blast furnace process can be replaced.

      • 폐전지로부터 유해물질의 제거

        The recovery of metals, such as cobalt and lithium, from spent litium ion secondary batteries(LIBs) was investigated. The waste batteries were dismantled and separated for obtaining valuable metals by a hydrometallurgical technology. The recovery of LIBs becomes important because the LIBs contain more than 20% cobalt. The leaching of LIBs with either HCl or H2SO4 was conducted. The reductive agent H2O2 was added to promote leaching agent when H2SO4 was used, The solvent extraction agents, D2EPA, TBP, and LIX were used to separate the valuable metals from the leaching solution of the wastes. The separating valuables of obtaining the metals were temperature, agitating time, and solid to liquid ratio. The extraction of cobalt was obtained almost 100% with an optimum condition.

      • 부선과 마이크로여과의 혼용장치를 이용한 동이온 회수

        폐 동광산의 침출수로부터 동이온의 회수가능성을 조사하기 위하여 순수 동 광물 시료를 이용하여 적절한 조건하에서 침출시킨후 부선과 마이크로 여과의 혼용장치를 이용하여 동 이온을 회수하였다. 사용된 포수제와 기포제는 KEX와 Dowfroth였고 pH 5, 10-2.5 M KEX 조건하에서 100% 동을 회수 할수 있었다. 폐 동광산의 광미지역에서 시료를 채취하여 동일한 실험조건을 가하여 실험한 결과 거의 동일한 실험 결과를 얻을수 있었다. 부선결과를 선별지수로 나타내었을 때 부선시간의 증가에 따라 선별지수가 감소하였는데 이는 멤브린의 파울링 현상 때문으로 판단 되었다. 이같은 현상은 플럭스 실험과 제타전위 실험결과에서도 부선시간이 경과함에 따라 파울링이 증가되어 선별지수가 감소하였다.
