As a part of development of Korean K2 main battle tank, embedded training computer to be operated in the main equipment, which makes it possible to train without a special-purposed training simulator, was adopted for tank combat training. The category of embedded training of Korean K2 main battle tank includes driving training, gunnery training, single tank combat training, platoon level combat training, and command and platoon leaders combat training. For realization unit level tank embedded training system, the virtual reality was utilized for real time image rendering, and network based real time communication system of K2 tank was utilized for sharing status information between tanks. As a result, it is possible to train themselves on their own tank for enhancing the operational skills and harmonized task with members.
유한요소법을 이용한 궤도용 고무패드의 마모 예측 및 설계에 관한 연구

In this paper, we have proposed a wear growth prediction method on the surface of rubber pad of track assembly installed in high-speed battle tank i.e. the automatic model updating code interfacing with commercial finite element simulation software. Also, simple and resonable geometrical, material finite element model was established to be easily updated based on the empirical threshold value of contact pressure on the contact surface. From the iterative model update and analysis results, we discovered a weak point on rubber pad surface and suggested a new design concept for improving the wear performance of track assembly.
궤도차량용 휠의 내구성 예측을 위한 유한요소 해석 기법 연구

The idler wheel installed at the front side of the newly developed tracked vehicle didn't meet the durability requirement by showing the crack failure near the jointed region at the wheel during the field test. To find the crack developing mechanism we constructed finite element model for the idler wheel representing the behavior of interface between each suspension units, material properties from the material test data and actual loading conditions. This paper shows a result that maximum von Mises stress near the bolt hole on the outer rim is higher than inner idler coressponding to the actual test result and that result was reversed by adopting the reinforcement outside of the outer rim.

The heavy thermal load to battle tanks can cause electronic components' malfunction and crew to be put out of action. The thermal load is generated from Internal heat sources such as electronic devices installed in the room as well as extremely hot weather. In this study, heat and flow analysis for the cabin room of a battle tank was performed to deal with this thermal problem. This study presented the validation of simulation results in comparison with those of test, the investigation of optimal flow design for effective cooling in cabin room and finally the evaluation of thermal comforts to crew.
