Many studies have been done in the field of fuzzy logic theory, but it's application is not so much, and particularly, there isn't any application to the ship's steering system, until now. This paper is to survey the effect of application of fuzzy logic control to the ship's steering system. The controller is made up of a set of Linguistic Control Rules which are conditional linguistic statements connecting the inputs and the output, and take the inputs derived from the errors, that is, deviation angle and it's angular velocity. These two variables together give information about the state of the steering system, and the Linguistic Control Rules are implemented on the digital computer. The characteristics of this system were investigated through the computer simulation and satisfactory results compared with that of the conventional PD controller were obtained.
Effect of Proparacaine in a Mouse Model of Allergic Rhinitis

Objectives. Lidocaine, a local anaesthetic is a treatment option in uncontrolled asthma due to its immunomodulatory effects. In the present study, proparacaine (PPC), a derivative of lidocaine was examined for its therapeutic application in a mouse model of allergic rhinitis. Methods. The mice were grouped into 4 groups: control group, allergic rhinitis (AR) group, ciclesonide (CIC) group, and PPC group. Nasal symptom scores, eosinophil counts, goblet cell counts, and mast cells counts in the nasal mucosa were measured. Serum ovalbumin (OVA)-specific immunoglobulin (Ig) E, OVA-specific IgG1, OVA-specific IgG2a, interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, and cortisol levels were measured. Results. Intranasal administration of PPC significantly decreased nasal symptoms, number of eosinophils, goblet cells, and mast cells in the lamina propria of the nasal mucosa. Serum OVA-specific IgE, OVA-specific IgG1, OVA-specific IgG2a was significantly higher in the AR compared with the control group. Serum level of IL-4 was significantly lower in the CIC group and PPC group in comparison with AR group. Serum IL-5 showed no significant difference among all groups. No significant difference in serum cortisol levels was observed among the 4 groups. Conclusion. PPC appears to have a therapeutic potential in treatment of allergic rhinitis in a mouse model by reducing eosinophil, goblet cell, and mast cell infiltration in the nasal mucosa.

One of the key characteristics of Buddhism from the late nineteenth century through the first half of the twentieth century was the rise of lay leadership. East Asian Buddhism was no exception, but the ways, degree, and timing in which this modern phenomenon manifested itself varied, especially in the case of Korean Buddhism, which saw a delayed arrival of lay leadership. This article addresses the question of why lay Buddhism struggled to emerge as a strong force in colonial Korea. A key factor that has been underestimated in scholarship is that Korean monks were socially stigmatized during the Joseon period (1392–1910). The rhetoric of stigmatism was so ubi-quitous in journals and newspapers in colonial Korea that it begs a closer analysis of the correlation between the societal perception of monks and its influence on the development of lay Buddhism. This article first examines three interrelated aspects of Korean monastics: (1) the stigmatization imposed on monastics during the Neo-Confucian Joseon dynasty, (2) the persistence of these stigmas in the minds of Koreans, and (3) their internalization among Korean monastics themselves. The article then draws out the impact of these three aspects on the late and limited emergence of lay leadership.

Differences in the prevalence and severity of allergic diseases exist among racial and ethnic groups. However, influence of population admixing on allergic disease has not been studied. This review aimed to review studies in the literature which examined the difference in the prevalence and severity of allergic disease among populations with different ancestry and to discuss the effect of population admixing on the occurrence and severity of allergic disease. Several studies have shown that the prevalence and severity of asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis were different according to ethnicity. However, there have been only a few studies evaluating the effect of population admixing on allergic disease. Ethnicity and environmental effect should be considered in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. .
Genus Bacillus의 병원성과 Superoxide Dismutase활성도와의 관계

This study was undertaken to examine the possibility of association between pathogenicity of Genus Bacillus and the induction of superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity. In this study, pathogenic B. anthracis ATCC 14578, vaccine strains; Army No.2 and Sterne, and other 4 strains of Bacillus species were included. The induction of SOD of Genus Bacillus was tested after cultivation by candle jar method. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Induction of total SOD activities was observed in pathogenic B. anthracis ATCC 14578 when cultured under reduced oxygen tension(candle jar method). (p>0.05) 2. Nonpathogenic strains, B. anthracis Army No. 2 and Sterne, and other 4 strains of related Bacillus species, were not observed the induction of SOD activity. 3. In the induction experiments, B. anthracis ATCC 14578 showed significant increment of Mn-SOD activity. But, other nonpathogenic strains failed to show statistically significant increase of Mn-SOD activity. These results suggest that the pathogenicity of Genus Bacillus may be associated with inducible activity of SOD.

This work aims at examining the navigational safety of the entrance channels of Masan harbour and suggesting the way to improve ships' navigational safety through the channels. It has been found, from the on-scene investigation of the navigational safety at Masan, that the depth of the Budo-Sudo channel is not deep enough to cater for the largest vessel visiting the harbour, and that the No.2 navigational channel is not wide enough for the vessel. An additional new waterway, therefore, has been recommended to be established in the south of the Budo-Sudo channel so that the deep draft vessel can detour. The No.2 navigational channel has been recommended to be widen. The width of the channel was suggested to be 280 meters. A waterway design simulation methodology has been applied to examine the safety of the newly suggested channels. New channels have been proved to be safe from the experiment.
