        Frost-Heaving Characteristics of Soil Mixed with Discarded Tire Powder

        To determine the frost heave suppressing mechanism of soil mixed with tire powder, we conducted three kinds of laboratory experiments: measurement of unfrozen water, evaluation of thermal conductivity, and a frost heave. In this research, we focused on changes in the coefficient of permeability of the mixed soil, and first found that of the unsaturated soil. Next, in the case of the presence of ice, we took the ice-impeding factor into consideration to derive the coefficient of permeability of the frozen fringe from the area ratio of the soil and tire powder in mixed soil. The results show a positive correlation between the water intake rate and the coefficient of permeability. Moreover, we found that the frost heave decreased thanks to a reduction in the permeability and a fall in the unfrozen water content of the soil mixed with tire powder. We also calculated the weight of the water content of the soil and tire powder void quantitatively using the result of the volumetric ratio of mixed soil.

        Field Experiments for Reducing Frost Susceptibility Using Recycled Tire Powder

        Three years of frost heave field experiments were conducted to evaluate a method for reducing heave using a recycled tire powder-soil mixture. By mixing Tomakomai soil with 20% recycled tire powder, frost heave amount was drastically decreased. The results of the field experiment confirm that recycled tire powder is an excellent material for use in controlling the total amount of heave. The restraining effect of a recycled tire powder-soil mixture is qualitatively analyzed based on amount of frost heave, frost heave ratio, thermal conductivity, permeability and segregation potential theory.

        사하촌에서 나타나는 건축특성에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study is to look into the question-What kind of factors, among various influencing factors of temple architecture, change the development of villages with their its relationships to the temple. For the study, the villages located around a temple site with special geographic characteristics were chosen. It was analyzed and generalized what kind of social factors were chosen and applied to the design of residential buildings in those villages. The characteristics of the buildings in the villages that have relationships with the temple appeared to be as follows; Financial factor of the temple, rather than religious influences of it, appeared to influence strongly over the forms of building and the spaces of village. The village which formed along a new entrance axis to the temple were transformed to have a spatial organization along with added sightseeing and commercial functions. The villages have different spatial structures depending on their land uses. In short, the form of entrance axis to the temple has changed the economical dependence of villages on the temple, and becomes the major factor of transforming the spatial organization of the villages.

      • 서멀프루브법에 의한 동결로의 열전도율 측정에 관한 연구

        Present author conducted the experimental studies to estimate the thermal conductivity near the melting point under the conditions of long time measurement and low temperature increment. The temperature increment pattern of the probe obtained near the melting point was in the form of `S' letter having the inflection point. When the data prior to the inflection point was used, the thermal conductivity near the melting point increased with the temperature increment. But, if the data after the inflection point was used, the thermal conductivity decreased with the temperature increment. It was found from the experiments that the predicted thermal conductivity was larger than the actual thermal conductivity. A linear relationship was obtained between the thermal conductivity and the volumetric water content. It was believed that the linear relationship might be due to the displacement of air or unfrozen water by the ice in the voids of the sample. The thermal conductivity decreased linearly with the temperature increment at the same volumetric water content. This tendency might be explained by the diminution of ice content in the sample

      • 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행에 관한 분석적 접근방법 통합: 메타-이론적 통합 프레임워크

        지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행은 장기적인 다양한 측면을 가진 과정이다. 경제발전, 기술혁신, 그리고 정책변화는 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행을 형성하는 데 특히 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행을 설명하려면 이런 요소들을 연구하는 학문들로부터 통찰을 결합할 것을 요구한다. 논문에서는 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행을 분석하기 위한 네 가지 접근방법에 다리를 놓고 연결하기 위한 제안을 한다: 경제-기술적 접근방법, 사회-기술적 이행 접근방법, 실천기반 행동연구 접근방법, 정치-정책적 접근방법. 논문에서는 이런 접근방법 각각은 정책과 실천에 영향을 끼칠 수 있는 통찰의 질과 유용성에서 부분적이고 불완전한 그림을 제시한다고 주장한다. 논문에서는 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행의 다섯 가지 핵심적 특성을 분석하고 이것들 각각에 관련해서 구조화된 비교방법론을 활용해서 네 가지 접근방법을 비교한다. 이를 토대로 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행을 분석하기 위한 메타-이론적 통합 프레임워크를 제안한다. 이런 서로 다른 접근방법들을 연결하는 메타-이론적 통합 프레임워크는 접근방법 각각을 풍부하게 할 것이고, 지속가능한 이행에 관한 더 포괄적인 분석을 위한 토대를 제공해서 정책결정자와 실천가가 직면하는 질문과 딜레마를 더 잘 다루는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 기존의 메타-이론적 문헌과 비교해서, 논문에서 제시하는 메타-이론적 통합 프레임워크는 정책과정과 정책혼합의 역할을 평가한다. 왜냐하면 정책과정과 정책혼합은 지속가능한 저탄소 사회로 이행의 속도와 방향에 영향을 끼칠 수 있어서 더욱더 중요해질 것이기 때문이다.

        토착적 건축현상으로서 교우마을에 대한 연구 -전라북도 완주군 비봉면 천호마을을 중심으로 -

        This study aims to give an architectural meaning to the process of change in villages formed to maintain the religious lives. We can draw the following conclusion by reviewing and analyzing primarily the details in relation to the bibliography and actually evaluating and analysing the current status of relevant villages secondly in order to understand the architectural meaning of Catholic village. The architectural Image contained in physical architectural phenomenon displays the change in religious values while the social and cultural characters are responding to the architectural space of Cheonho Village, and this, as a cultural byproduct, is the architectural phenomenon that encompasses the process by which religion takes root in the farming society of Korea that reveals the change in value inherent in the community. The result from study that we conducted via the architectural space of Cheonho Village is interpreted as an architectural phenomenon that encompasses the religion as part of routine lives in a way that is different from the process of becoming in-cultural, and this can be interpreted to have a meaning and character as incultural architecture phenomenon.

      • 동결과정에 따른 흙속의 용질이동에 관한 실험적 연구

        Frost heave experiments were performed for two different types of materials with saline pore water. The used materials were weathered soil and glass beads. Significant salt redistribution occurred during the upward freezing of saline glass beads from 0.5 cm/day to 2 cm/day. However, water content did not change during the experiment. On the contrary significant water redistribution occurred from the unfrozen zone to frozen zone during the upward freezing of saline weathered soil independently of freezing rates. However, salt contents both in the frozen and in the unfrozen zone did not change during the experiment. Also the salt redistribution was observed just beneath the ice lens at an extremely low freezing rate for weathered soil.

        The author conducted the field experiments of frost heave as to evaluate reducing method of frost heave amount using granulated tire-soil mixture. By mixing tested soil with granulated tire, a frost heave decreased highly. From the results of the field experiment, it was confirmed that granulated tire was excellent material in controlling the total heave amount. The following conclusions can be made from the results of the research: 1) The frost heave amount significantly decreased with the addition of granulated rubber powder. The restraint effect of frost heave is thought to be caused by the increase of a drain property and decrease of a specific surface area. 2) The frost front of the mixed section penetrated deeper than that of the non-mixed section. Such a result may express that the volumetric water content decreased by granulated rubber-soil mixture has an effect on latent heat of mixed site caused by ice segregation. 3) Rubber powders had nothing to do with the insulation effect if rubber powders used as the mixed condition with a soil.
