In order to study the toxic level of dietary trivalent chromium and its interaction with cobalt and zinc on the growth, mortality, and accumulation of chromium in organs of chicks, an experiment was conducted with 720 chicks(Hanhyub 603) for a period of S weeks. Lour levels of trivalent chromium(0ppm, 500ppm, 1,500ppm and 2,500ppm) were added in the absence or presence of cobalt 150ppm or zinc 600ppm. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows: 1. Growing chicks(0-5wk) fed 500ppm of trivalent chromium showed no adverse effects on the growth rate and mortality, but those fed 1,500ppm to 2,500ppm of trivalent exhibited considerable growth depression(p$lt;0.05) without mortality. 2. Dietary cobalt and zinc did not reduced the toxicity of trivalent chromium. 3. Chromium accumulation into internal organs was slightly increased as the dietary trivalent chromium level was increased from 500 to 2,500ppm, but the degree and mode of the accumulation was different depending upon the internal organ. And adding cobalt and zinc failed to reduce the chromium accumulation.

In order to study the toxicity of chromium and its interaction with other elements, three experiments were conducted with 720 broiler type chicks and 480 egg type chicks for a period of 16 weeks The results obtained are as follows. 1. Chicks showed no adverse effect in growth rate and mortality from 200 ppm of hexavalent chromium, but exhibited growth depression and mortality from 400 ppm and 600 ppm. 2. Chicks showed no adverse effect in growth rate and mortality from 500ppm of trivalent chromium, but exhibited growth depression from 1500ppm, 2500 ppm and 4000ppm. But chicks didn`t show any mortality from 1500ppm, 2500 ppm and 4000 ppm. 3. There was no antagonistic interaction between chromium and silver. Silver exaggerated the toxicity of hexavalent chromium. 4. The growth depression with trivalent chromium was reduced by adding copper. 5. As higher levels of hexavalent chromium were administered, (in increasing amounts, 200 ppm, 400 ppm. 600 ppm) the accumulation of chromium in the internal organs was higher. Adding silver did not influence the accumlatation of chromium in the internal organs. 6. As higher level, of trivalent chromium were administered, (in increasing amounts, 500 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2500 ppm, 4000 ppm) the accumulation of chromium in the internal organs was higher. Adding copper showed a tendency of reducing the accumulation of chromium in the internal organs, but showing insignificant difference.

In order to study the toxic level of dietary trivalent chromium and its interaction with cobalt on the growth, mortality and feed requirement, an experiment was conducted with 480 chicks(Hisex White) for a period of 5 weeks. Four levels of trivalent chromium ( 0 ppm, 500 ppm, 1, 500 ppm, and 2, 500 ppm) were added in the absence or presence of cobalt 150ppm. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows. 1. Chicks (0-5 wk) fed 500 ppm of trivalent chromium showed no adverse effect on the growth rate, but those fed 1,500 ppm and 2,500 ppm of trivalent chromium exhibited considerable growth depression (P $lt; 0.05) . 2. Chicks fed 500 ppm, 1,500 ppm and 2,500 ppm of trivalent chromium showed no mortality. 3. Feed requirement was increased as the level of dietary trivalent chromium was increased, and it was found that dietary cobalt failed to improve the feed requirement.

In order to study the toxic level of dietary hexavalent chromium and its interaction with copper and zinc on the growth, mortality and accumulation of chromium in organs, an experiment was conducted with 720 chicks (Hisex White) for a period of 8 weeks. Four levels of hexavatent chrominm (O0ppm, 200ppm, 400ppm, and 600ppm) were added in the absence or presence of copper 1000ppm or zinc 400ppm. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows: 1. Growing chicks(0-8wk) fed 200ppm of hexavalent chromium showed no adverse effects on the growth rate and mortality, but those fed 400ppm to 600ppm of hexavalent chromium exhibited remarkable growth depression and increased mortality(p$lt;0.05). 2. Dietary copper and zinc partially reduced the toxicity of hexavalent chromium, but the modes and degrees were not consistent with the various dietary chromium levels. 3. Chromium accumulation in the internal organs of the growing chicks was slightly increased as the dietary hexavalent chromium level was increased from 200 to 600ppm. And it was found that hexavalent chromium accumulation in the internal organs was partially reduced by dietary copper and zinc supplementation.

In order to study the toxic level of dietary trivalent or hexavalent chromium and its interaction with silver, copper and zinc on the growth, mortality and feed requirement, an experiment was conducted with 780 chicks(Hanhyub 603) for a period of 3 weeks. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows: 1. Chicks(0-3wk) fed 4,000ppm of trivalent chromium exhibited considerable growth depression(p $lt; 0.05), but showed no adverse effects on the mortality. 2. Growth depression induced by dietary trivalent chromium was not relived by silver or zinc, but relived slightly by copper. 3. Chicks(0-3wk) fed 1500ppm of hexavalent chromium exhibited considerable growth depression and mortality(p $lt; 0.05). Growth depression induced by dietary hexavalent chromium was not relieved by copper, zinc and copper + zinc, but mortality was significantly(p $lt; 0.05) relieved only by zinc. 4. The feed requirement was increased as the level of dietary chromium was increased, and adding silver, copper, zinc and copper+zinc failed to improve the feed requirement.

In order to study the high level toxicity of dietary chromium (III, VI) and its interaction with copper and zinc, an experiment was conducted with 480 chicks(Hanyub 603) for a period of 4 weeks. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows: 1. Chicks(0-4wk) fed 5,000ppm of trivalent chromium exhibited considerable growth depression and mortality(p $lt; 0.05) 2. Growth depression and mortality induced by trivalent chromium were relieved by copper. 3. Chicks(0-4wk) fed 1200ppm of hexavalent chromium exhibited considerable growth depression and moutality(p $lt; 0.05). Growth depression induced by dietary hexavalent chromium was not relieved by copper and zinc, but mortality was significantly relieved by only zinc. 4. The feed requirement was increased as the level of dietary chromium (III, VI) was increased, and adding copper and zinc failed to improve the feed requirement.
