Zirconium boride is an artificial or which is rarely found in the nature. $ZrB_2$ is popular in the hard material industry because it has a high melting point, excellent mechanical properties and chemical stability. There are two known methods to synthesize $ZrB_2$. The first involves direct reaction between Zr and B, and the second is by reduction of the metal halogen. However, these two methods are known to be unsuitable for mass production. SHS(Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis) is an efficient and economic method for synthesizing hard materials because it uses exothermic reactions. In this study, $ZrB_2$ was successfully synthesized by subjecting $ZrO_2$, Mg and $B_2O_3$ to SHS. Because of the high combustion temperature and rapid combustion, in conjunction with the stoichiometric ratio of $ZrO_2$, Mg and $B_2O_3$; single phase $ZrB_2$ was not synthesized. In order to solve the temperature problem, Mg and NaCl additives were investigated as diluents. From the experiments it was found that both diluents effectively stabilized the reaction and combustion regime. The final product, made under optimum conditions, was single-phase $ZrB_2$ of $0.1-0.9{\mu}m$ particle size.

This paper reports standard uncertainties of full-scale crash testing facilities for a train. KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) has established full-scale crash testing facilities which is the first testing facilities among Asian countries. The testing facilities enabled single item test, crash module test and full structure test including dummies for a occupant injury evaluation. Full-scale crash testing facilities consist of a crash barrier, dynamic load cell, high speed DAS(Data Acquisition System), a laser displacement sensor, dummies, a motor car and etc. The items for evaluation of standard uncertainties are impact load, displacement during impact, energy absorption and acceleration. Six dynamic load cells with a capacity of 3,000 kN each are used to measure the impact load and the data acquisition system records the converted voltage signal. Displacement during impact is measured with a laser displacement sensor which has high sampling capacity. Acceleration data are measured with several accelerometers attached to the specimen and moving car. Standard uncertainties of measurement devices were evaluated on the basis of the ISO guide(GUM: Guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement)

In this paper, a virtual simulation model to analyze performance of hybrid electric vehicle is presented. Simulation model consist of dynamic models of HEV powertrain. In order to estimate the performance of HEV: Power Split type HEV, a HEV simulator is developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Using driving mode simulation (UDDS: Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule) performance of HEV were calculated. In order to consider each model of accuracy , the simulation has compared with PSAT.
2015년 가뭄에 따른 강화도 지하수위 변동 특성 분석

우리나라의 해안지역에서는 지하수 개발이 증가하면서 담수고갈과 해수침투 현상이 점점 증가하고 있다. 이에 농림축산식품부에서는 도서·해안지역 농어촌 지하수에 대한 해수침투 관측망을 설치하고 자료를 분석하여 농작물의 염해 피해 예방 및 합리적인 지하수 개발·이용과 관리 방안을 제시하고 있다. 해수침투 관측망은 1998년부터 시작하여 2014년 12월 현재 육지부에 145개소가 설치되어 운영 중이며, 2021년까지 총 388개소를 설치할 계획이다. 각 관측소에서는 관정 내에 센서를 설치하여 지하수 수위, 수온, 전기전도도를 1회/시 관측하고 있다. 이러한 관측자료 중 금년에 가뭄이 극심하였던 강화군 숭뇌지구의 지하수위 변동 특성을 분석하였다. 강화도의 총 면적 411㎢ 중 간척지 면적은 총 면적의 약 32%인 약 130 ㎢이고, 농경지 면적은 164㎢이며, 이 중 논 면적은 76%이다. 강화지역은 2014년 강수량이 605.4 mm로 30년 평균값(1981~2010)의 45%에 지나지 않아 2014년에 극심한 가뭄을 경험하였으며, 2015년에도 8월까지 월별 강수량이 30년 평균값 대비 2.0~275.6 mm가 적어 가뭄이 반복되고 있다. 특히 풍수기인 8월에도 강수량이 51.0 mm로 30년 평균 강수량인 326.6 mm에 비해 275.6 mm가 적은 것으로 나타났다. 숭뇌지구에 위치한 3공의 관측공은 1998~2004년 기간 중에 해안선을 기준으로 550 m(숭뇌2), 830 m(숭뇌1), 1,180 m(숭뇌3)의 거리를 두고 개발되었다. 2015년도에 관측된 지하수위 자료 분석 결과, 지하수위는 예년 월평균 관측자료 대비 약 3.2~7.2 m가 하강되었다. 특히 예년대비 강수량이 적은 3월부터 지하수위가 상대적으로 더욱 낮아져 지하수를 이용한 농업용수 공급에 어려움을 겪었다. 결과적으로 가뭄에 따른 지하수위 하강은 가용할 수 있는 용수량의 감소를 의미하므로, 강화도와 같은 섬 지역의 경우 향후 지하수위 변화를 분석하여 가뭄을 대비한 추가 용수량 확보에 대비할 필요가 있을 것으로 판단된다.

This paper deals with dynamic tensile characteristics for the polypropylene composite used in an IP(Instrument Panel). This polypropylene composite is adopted in the dash board of a car, especially PAB(Passenger Air Bag) module. The dynamic tensile characteristics are important because the PAS module undergoes high speed deformation during the airbag expansion. The operating temperature of a car varies from -30℃ to 110℃ according to the specification. The dynamic tensile tests are performed at the low temperature(-30℃), room temperature(21℃) and high temperature(85℃). The tensile tests are carried out at strain rates of nine intervals ranged from 0.00l/sec to 200/sec. The flow stress increases as the strain rate becomes higher. The flow stress decreases at the high temperature while the strain rate sensitivity increases. Finite element analysis of the tensile test with the special specimen was carried out with unmodified stress-strain curve obtained from the ASTM Ⅳ specimen directly. The analysis result shows that the load response is almost same with the experimental result but the corresponding strain is rather larger than the experimental result. The stress-strain curves were modified on the basis of the observation of strain distribution along the gage length. The analysis result with the modified stress-strain curves showed good agreement with the experimental result. The material properties obtained from this research will be useful to estimate the airbag expansion accurately in engineering sense.
