This paper investigates the trajectory of two geometric motifs – lattice and chevron – in the Korean arts during the Three Kingdoms and Goryeo period and analyse their cultural, historical significance. The lattice motif here includes chessboard pattern, while the chevron is defined as a basic motif of the zigzag pattern, which is a series of chevrons linked together. Starting from the earlier study that these two geometric motifs pointed to the ‘northern cultural elements’ of Korean arts, this paper confirms that such element of Korean arts could reach the cultural zone of the Inner and Central Asia, by examining the Inner Asian elements of these motifs in the visual arts of medieval Turkic Muslims. Most of the Islamic examples for this case are found in arts of the Seljuk Empire, with a case of the further usage in the Ilkhanids. Despite greatly separated in terms of time and place, both Korean and Turkic Islamic cultures shared these geometric patterns and embraced them as symbols of power and authority beyond their original military context.
탈북학생 학업중단율의 변화 요인 분석 - 사회경제적 여건과 교육지원정책의 변화를 중심으로

This study aims to identify the causes of the decrease in the dropout rate of North Korean Refugee students since 2010. There are two research subjects. The first is the change in the social and economic conditions of North Korean Refugees. The second is the change in the educational support policy for North Korean refugees, which has had an impact on the reduction in the dropout rate. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that there is a correlation between changes in the socioeconomic conditions of North Korean refugees and a decrease in the dropout rate of North Korean refugees. On the other hand, the establishment of the North Korean Refugee stuents education support policy in 2008 and the establishment of the North Korean Youth Education Support Center in 2009 had a decisive effect on the reduction of the dropout rate. 본 연구에서는 2010년 이후의 탈북학생 학업중단율 감소 원인을 파악하고자한다. 연구 대상은 두 가지다. 첫째는 북한이탈주민의 사회경제적 여건의 변화이다. 선행 연구성과들에 따르면 가정의 경제 수준, 부모의 소득과 취업 여부가 학업중단율과 학업성취도에 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 둘째는 학업중단율 감소에 영향을 미친탈북학생 교육지원정책의 변화이다. 연구 결과, 북한이탈주민의 사회경제적 여건의변화와 탈북학생 학업중단율의 감소 간에 상관관계가 있음을 확인했다. 다른 한편, 2008년 탈북학생 교육지원정책의 수립과 2009년 탈북청소년교육지원센터의 개설이 2010년 이후의 급격한 학업중단율 감소에 결정적인 영향을 미쳤다.
Ring-dot-shaped Multilayer Piezoelectric Step-down Transformers Using PZT-based Ceramics

In this study, multilayer piezo stack transformers for switching mode power supply (SMPS) application were manufactured using 0.01Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 - 0.08Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O3 -0.91Pb(Zr0.505Ti0.495)O3 (PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics. The voltage ratio of a multilayer piezo stack transformer showed a maximum at the resonance frequency of the input and then increased with increasing load resistance. The efficiency of the multilayer piezo stack transformer showed its highest value at around the matching load. The output power increased with increasing input voltage. The temperature of the multilayer piezo stack transformer increased with increasing output power and load resistance. The manufactured multilayer piezo stack transformer could be used up to 5W at a resonance frequency of 70.25 kHz for SMPS application because the temperature rise from room temperature is believed to about 20 ℃ and because the transformer is electrically stable. The newly-developed ring-dot-type step-down multilayer piezo stack transformer shows possible applications as SMPS for electronic power sources with excellent input-to-output properties.

The collapse of the USSR bequeathed plenty of problems to the Russian Federation. One of the most important issues is related to the overseas russians in the Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS). To understand this problem we have to know three tensely related issues. First issue is the conditions surrounding overseas russians. Second is the policies of the newly independent states on overseas russians. The last is policies of the Russian Federation on overseas russians. The economic and political situations of the overseas russians are various according to the place of the residence. But few of them enjoy stable life, which was the main reason for Russian Government to engage in the protection of the civil rights and freedom of the overseas russians. Meanwhile, Russian Government wants overseas russians to play a role of a leverage to excercise influence over the countries of the former USSR. With the introduction of the new Civil Law in 2002 favorable conditions for overseas russians disappeared, which was resurrected by the presidential decree in 2006. But whether the decree means that Russian Government intends to exercise influence over the countries of the former USSR is now uncertain.

In order to fabricate multilayer piezo stack transformers, we investigated the influences of the sintering temperature and the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Pb(Ni_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))-Pb(Mn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))-Pb(Zr_(0.505)Ti_(0.495))O_3 (PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics with CeO_2 additives due to their effects of grain growth suppression. Meanwhile, the effects of CeO_2 additives on the microstructure and the electrical properties of PNN-PMN-PZT were investigated in detail. In addition, multilayer piezo stack transformers with the composition of PNN-PMN-PZT were fabricated, and the characteristics were measured for various load resistances at resonance frequency. The voltage stepup ratio was continuously changed with increasing input voltage and load resistance. The output voltages and powers were increased with increasing input voltage at matching impedance. The temperature rise of the multilayer piezo stack transformer increased with increasing input voltage and load resistance. These results indicate that the optimized properties of ceramics, d_(33) = 274 pC/N, K_p = 0.55, Q_m = 2581, ε_r = 1474, density = 7.899 g/cm^3, and tanδ = 0.0031, were obtained at a sintering temperature of 1250 ℃. Meanwhile, multilayer piezo stack transformers a sintered at 1250 ℃ showed favorable characteristics with a power of 5 W at 150 Ω.
