CaCO3 crystallization with feeding of aspartic acid

Aspartic acid (Asp) was employed as the organic template in inducing the nucleation and growth of calcium carbonate. Crystallization experiments were carried out by the addition of Asp into the solution of sodium carbonate and calcium chloride. The effects of reaction time, dropping velocity of Asp and Na2CO3 solution were tested. The CaCO3 crystals were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM)and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR). Two kinds of crystals were identified by FT-IR spectrum. In the presence of Asp, formation of vaterite is induced in crystallization solution. Also, under the initial condition of an excess amount of Asp, vaterite morphology is the major one. Various morphologies of CaCO3 are made by changing dropping velocity of added Asp and Na2CO3.

자살예방을 위한 인식개선 캠페인은 국가적 자살예방대책의 핵심사업 중 하나이다. 본 연구는 자살예방 국가전략을 성공적으로 수행하고 있다고 평가되는 뉴질랜드·미국·아일랜드·스코틀랜드·호주의 5개국과 우리나라의 캠페인을 비교·분석하였다. 미국 보건복지부가 제시한 보건커뮤니케이션 캠페인 가이드라인을 토대로 각국의 캠페인을 (1) 목표의 명확성, (2) 표적화 전략의 적절성, (3) 메시지 전략의 적합성, (4) 이행의 효율성 측면에서 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 해외 캠페인들의 공통적 요소로 (1) 분명한 목표가 포함된 캠페인 명칭, (2) 사회 맥락을 고려한 캠페인 대상의 표적화, (3) 구체적인 행동지침을 포함한 슬로건, (4) 정부와 민간의 유기적 협력이 발견되었다. 이를 근거로 우리나라 캠페인이 발전하기 위해서는 보다 전략적 체계를 갖추고, 구체적인 대상에게 메시지가 전달될 수 있도록 하며, 보다 대중적인 매체를 활용하고, 민간 및 지방조직과의 유기적 협력을 강화하며, 체계적인 효과성 평가를 병행할 것을 제언하였다. Public awareness campaign is the core factor of the national suicide prevention strategies. Korea’s current campaign needs to be more systematically developed. This study analyzed the national-level campaigns for suicide prevention of New Zealand, USA, Ireland, Scotland, and Australia whose campaigns were known to be successful, and compared them with those of Korea. With the analysis framework based on the ‘Guideline for Effective Health Communication Campaigns’ by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, we examined the campaigns from the dimensions of (1) clarity of goals, (2) appropriacy of targeting strategies, (3) suitability of messaging strategies, and (4) efficiency of performance. The results show that effective campaigns for suicide prevention have the following common factors: (1) campaign appellations which include clear goals, (2) targeting at risk groups considering social contexts, (3) slogans which contains specific action guidelines, and (4) close relationships between public and private sectors. On this basis, future directions for more effective suicide prevention media campaigns in Korea are discussed.

Thermally denatured albumin beads were prepared. The pH of albumin solution was adjusted with HCl and NaOH. Experimental pH range was 2∼11. The absorbance of albumin solution was measured using UV-visible spectrometer at 600nm of wavelength. Albumin beads were swelled to their equilibrium state in various pH of aqueous swelling mediums. The pH of swelling medium was set to 2∼11 with phosphate buffer and final value of ionic strength was 0.2. At the isoelectric point, swelling ratio showed minimum value. Bead which was made from albumin solution whose pH was adjusted to high value, showed high equilibrium swelling ratio and pH sensitivity in swelling.

DWTT (Drop Weigh Tearing Test) is one critical method that can exhibit the fracture properties of line pipe steel, since it estimates the properties with real pipe steel. In this study, the ductile portion, inverse fracture ratio and absorbed energy of API X65 and X70 line pipe steels were estimated with temperature variation. Both steels showed that the ratio of ductile area and absorbed energy were decreased with respect to decreasing the test temperature. However, while the ductile fracture behavior exhibited until -40 ℃ for the X70 steel, but it showed until -30℃ for the X65 steel. The fracture properties were discussed with respect to test temperatures.
