      • 예비교사를 위한 다문화 역량증진 프로그램의 효과

        본 연구의 목적은 다문화 역량 프로그램이 예비교사들에게 미치는 영향으로 27명의 실험집단과 37명이 통제집단에 의해 수행되었다. 2016년 3월 4일부터 5월 27일까지 64명의 학생들을 대상으로 총 10회기를 실시하였으며, t-test로 양 집단의 차이점을 조사하였다. 본 프로그램이 예비교사들에게 미치는 영향은 프로그램 시행 후 두 집단의 다문화 태도는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 이 결과는 지속적인 교육의 중요성을 지적한다. 한편 다문화 효능점수는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였는데, 이 결과는 강의, 비디오 시청, 사례 발표, 그룹 또는 팀 토론과 같은 다양한 교육활동을 포함한 다문화 역량 프로그램이 다문화 효능개발에 중요한 역할을 했다는 점이다. 연구함의는 첫째, RESPECTFUL모델을 적용한 연구결과 인종이나 민족과 같은 제한된 대상을 종교, 심리적 성숙, 연령, 외상경험, 가족, 거주지, 언어와 같은 일반개념으로 확장하는 데 중요성을 보였다. 소수민에 대한 예비교사들의 태도, 신념 체계, 가치관이 탐구되었으며, 실용 지향적 접근으로서 자신의 신념체계에 대한 문화적 영향이나 세계관에 대한 이해에 의미가 있었다. 둘째, RESPECTFUL 모델에 기초하여, 이 연구는 소수민족에 대한 편견과 고정관념적인 태도를 바꾸기 위해서 예비교사들에게 지식을 전달했다. 지각적 인식과 행동변화를 증가시키기 위해서, 비디오, 활동 표, 사례발표, 그룹 혹은 팀 토론, 자기성찰저널, 다문화 경험과 같은 다문화 교육의 방법론 다양화에 중요성을 보여주었다. 셋째, 본 연구는 선행연구와 마찬가지로 다문화 접촉 경험 보고서를 사용하는 것이 참가자들의 다문화적인 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 그러나 다문화 접촉 경험보고에서 몇몇 참가자는 그들의 이점보다는 소수집단에 동정을 보였다. 이 연구는 소수집단을 다루기위한 적절한 태도를 보여 주었다. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of multi-cultural competency program on educational college students. For this purpose, 27 students was assigned to the experimental group, and 37 students to the control group. The program conducted a total of 10-session lessons for these 64 students from 4th March to 27th May, 2016. This study examined differences between the experimental group and control group using the t-test. The key findings of the effect of multi-cultural competency program on educational college students were as follows. Firstly, there were no statistically significant differences between experimental group and control group s multi-cultural attitude after the implementation of the program. This indicated the importance of continuing education. However, the scores of multi-cultural efficacy showed statistically significant differences. This result suggests that multi-cultural competency program which include various educational activities such as lecture, watching videos, case presentation, group or team discussion played important roles on developing multi-cultural efficacy. The implications of this study are as follows: Firstly, on the basis of RESPECTFUL model, this study had significance on expanding once restricted objects like race and ethnic group into generalized conceptions such as religion, psychological maturation, age, traumatic experience, family, residence, language. Educational college students attitude, belief system, and values toward minority group have be explored. As a practical-oriented approach, this study also had significance on understanding the cultural impact on own belief system or a view of the world. Secondly, on the basis of the RESPECTFUL model, this study transmitted knowledge for educational college students in order to change their prejudiced and stereotyped attitude toward minorities. Moreover, in order to rise perceptual awareness and behavioral change, this study also had significance on diversifying methodological dimensions of multi-cultural education such as video, activity sheet, case presentation, group or team discussion, self-reflection journal, multi-cultural experience. Thirdly, in line with prior research, the present study confirmed that using the multi-cultural contact experience report had an positive impact on participants multi-cultural attitude. However, by using the multi-cultural contact experience report, several participants showed sympathy toward minority group more than emphasis their advantages. This study revealed the appropriate attitude to deal with the minority group.

        The authors evaluated ultrasonographic findings of surgically or pathologically proven anterior abdominal wall lesion in 17 cases. The reuslts were follows: 1. Ultrasonography is an accurate, convenient and noninvasive method to detect and determine the extent of anterior abdominal wall lesion. 2. Peritoneal fascia interface is an important landmark in differenciation between intraperitoneal and abdominal wall lesion. 3. Sonographic differenclation of abscess and hematoma from tumor was impossible.

        인하우스 코디네이터 중심 국제진료센터 의료통역 시스템 연구

        Medical interpreting services in Korea have a distinctive system where healthcare coordinators assume a wide variety of patient care responsibilities including marketing, administrative, interpreting, escorting, and medical duties, covering the whole process of medical care from pre-consultation arrangement to post-treatment care. Efforts at the government and private levels to foster professional healthcare interpreters through intensive interpreter training and certificate system have not been fully established on the field because hospitals usually hire coordinators or use inside hospital staff members with language competency to handle multi-tasks including interpreting. This study investigates the management system of interpreting services in the international healthcare centers at Korean university hospitals by having in-depth interviews with four directors and six coordinators regarding their personal information (educational background, experience, medical training, hiring process, and current responsibilities), and their opinions on the vagueness of job description, and overlapping of responsibilities. Interviews were conducted at four major university hospitals throughout August of 2018. Background literature reviews and preliminary interviews with healthcare professionals were conducted to formulate the main interview questions surrounding the hiring, managing, and training of medical interpreters and management of the interpreting system. The results demonstrated that the medical coordinator system leads to the lack of formalization of job responsibility and hiring/training process and increased role-conflict at Korean university hospitals. However, most interviewees admit that the medical coordinator system is the most optimized interpreting system for Korean hospitals and that coordinators are more valuable human resources than freelance interpreters who only conduct interpreting.

        번역가의 ‘전문성’ 개념 변화의 필요성 — 디지털 시대 ‘비전문가’ 번역을 중심으로

        This paper starts from questioning whether it is appropriate to describe a newly emerging group of user-translators as “non-professionals” just because they do not receive formal training in translation. Unlike traditional non-professional translators, these volunteer translators participating in translation of webtoons, free open-source softwares(FOSS), games, educational contents, news articles and subtitles for dramas, have domain knowledge and high level of digital proficiency. They work online in collaboration with other like-minded people with the help of computer aided translation tools and hold online discussion forums on translation related topics. In commercialized cases, quality control and evaluation are done through peer-reviews, voting, and revision by professionals. Through collaboration, discussions, usage of CAT tools and division of works, their lack of professional competence is compensated. With a dramatic increase in the volume of online contents which need linguistic mediation, these volunteers contribute a lot in helping people enjoy the cultural and intellectual contents over language barriers. Considering the strength of these translators characterized by strong interest, genre knowledge, online collaboration, digital literacy, and language proficiency, the term “non-professional” referring to these volunteer translators is not quite appropriate; and the traditional concept of professionalism in the translation community largely based on translation education needs to be reevaluated.

        충실성과 창의적 개입 사이의 딜레마 - 언어유희 번역을 중심으로

        Focusing on the dilemma of a literary translator between semantic faithfulness to the source text(ST) and creative intervention, this paper studies wordplays in Children's Classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. There is no better field than translation of wordplays to deal with the issue of creativity in literary translation, as the only way to be faithful to the intention of the original text is paradoxically to be unfaithful to its exact use of words(Delabastita 1996: 135). Translators of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are required to decide to what extent they should intervene to deliver the intention of the ST author as wordplays are significant literary devices in the ST at the same time, as translators of a children's literature, they need to consider readability of the target language(TL) readers. Wordplays discussed in this paper are homophones, homographs, homonyms, parodical puns and puns of words with contrasting meanings. 8 target texts analyzed in this study showed two major types of translation techniques: 1) create new wordplays in the TL, and 2) translate the original wordplays and explain by footnotes or in parenthesis. Three translators created their own wordplays while 5 other translators systematically translated the original wordplays with its meaning and form intact. The analysis shows even in the translation between languages with such big linguistic and cultural differences as in the English-Korean translation, it is possible to deliver the poetic, witty, and humorous effects of the original by creating new wordplays.
