Antioxdant Activity of Hibiscus cannabinus L. Leaves in Different Growth Time

The results on the useful functional compounds of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) leaves cultivated in reclaimed lands and the biological activity effects of extracts were as follows. On 98 days after sowing (DAS) Tainung-2 showed the highest total chlorophyll content (1.68 mg/g), and on 141 DAS Dowling showed higher chlorophyll content (1.50 mg/g) than the other two did. In all cultivars the total chlorophyll content was higher on 141 DAS than on 98 DAS. Total polyphenol and total flavonoid contents were the highest in Tainung-2 (30.50 mg/g and 57.03 mg/g, respectively), and total polyphenol and total flavonoid contents (30.50 mg/g and 57.03 mg/g, respectively) were the highest in 30% ethanol extraction. Ascorbic acid contents were higher on 141 DAS than on 98 DAS in three cultivars. SOD activities of kenaf leaf extract were generally over 90%. DPPH radical scavenging activity of Tainung-2 was higher than others.
폴리페놀, 안토시아닌과 비타민 C 함량이 우수한 감자 계통 선발

본 연구는 기능성 식품 소재용 감자 계통을 선발하고자, 35개의 계통 및 대조구 품종인 ‘수미’, ‘다솜밸리’ ‘고구밸리’의 총 폴리페놀, 총 안토시아닌, 비타민C의 함량을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 계통별 함량차이가 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 그 가운데서 총 폴리페놀 함량은 KPG16 계통이 105.08㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW, 총 안토시아닌 함량은 KPG13 계통이 4.78㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW, 비타민 C 함량은 KPG20 계통이 22.16㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW으로 각각 높게 나타났다. 종합적으로 분석한 결과, KPG5계통이 총 폴리페놀, 총 안토시아닌, 비타민 C 함량이 각각 103.95, 3.15, 12.12㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW 으로 3성분을 고루 함유하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 추후 기능성 품종 선발의 소재로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. To develop appropriate potato clones as functional food materials, we collected 35 potato breeding clones to analyze the contents of the total polyphenol, anthocyanin, and vitamin C with the ‘Superior’, ‘Dasom valley’, and ‘Gogu valley’ cultivars as controls. Based on our analysis great differences were observed in different potato clones. KPG16 had the highest content of total polyphenol at 105.08 ㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW; KPG13 had the highest content of anthocyanin at ·4.78 ㎎100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW; KPG20 had the highest content of vitamin C at 22.16 ㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW. Some clones had higher contents of the total polyphenol but lower levels of anthocyanin. Ultimately, potato clones showing relatively high indexes for all three compounds, could be considered as good functional food material. By equilibrium analysis of the contents of total polyphenol, anthocyanin, and vitamin C, KPG5 showed relatively higher contents, with values of 103.95, 3.15, 12.12 ㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW, respectively. Therefore, KPG5 was considered to be the best potato breeding clone in view of a functional potato breeding system.

본 연구는 아열대 일년생 작물인 kenaf를 철원지역에서 품종 Dowling, Everglade-41, Tainung-2를 재배하여 생육특성과 광합성율을 측정하였다. 생장분석 결과 파종 후 53일째에 Everglade-41 품종이 잎 생체중과 건물중이 가장 높게 나타내었다. 줄기 무게는 Tainung-2 품종이 가장 높았으며, 93일과 115일째에서는 Dowling 품종이 줄기와 잎에서 가장 높은 생체중과 건물중을 나타내어 생산적 측면에서는 Dowling 품종이 가장 높게 나타났다. 이 생장분석 결과로 Dowling 품종의 높이는 그리 높지 않지만 잎의 수가 많고, 직경이 커서 Dowling 품종이 더 효과적인 생산성을 보였다. 광합성 측정에서는 일사량이 많은 파종 후 73일째인 8월초에 측정한 Everglade-41 품종이 28.6 CO₂ μ㏖ m?²s?¹으로 가장 높은 수치를 나타내었다. 파종 후 115일째 수확시 식물체의 높이는 품종별 차이는 나타내지 않았지만, 줄기의 굵기는 Dowling과 Everglade-41 품종이 28㎜ 정도로 Tainung-2 품종에 비해 현저히 높게 나타났다. 본 시험결과에서는 철원지역에서의 모든 품종들은 앞서 제주지역에서 얻은 실험 결과와 비교하여 수확량은 감소하였다. 이는 제주에서의 kenaf 재배는 철원지역보다 재식밀도가 더 넓었으며 재배기간도 길었기 때문이다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 재식밀도와 재배기간을 더 늘린다면 철원지역에서의 kenaf의 사료작물로서 생산량은 높아지리라 사료된다. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of growing period and cultivars on physiological characteristics and photosynthetic rates of kenaf in Cheorwon, Korea, The possibility of their utilization as forage plant was also discussed. A split plot design composing 3 growing periods (53, 84 and 115 days after sowing) and 3 cultivars (Dowling, Everglade-41 and Tainung-2) was applied for this experiment. Leaf photosynthetic rate was highest 28.6 CO₂ μ㏖ m?²s?¹ in Everglade-41 at the beginning of August when solar irradiation was most intense. In the final biomass of kenaf, Dowing wa the highest among cultivars, with 534.6g/F.W./plant and 109.6g/D.W./plant, respectively. In addition, Dowling was the best in stem thickness among cultivars evaluated. Our results exhibited that all cultivars planted in Cheorwon exhibited decreased yield production compared to a previous report experimented in Jaeju. It may result that cultivation in Jaeju utilized wider planting space and longer cultivating time. In the basis of our data, it is suggest that extending cultivation time and using wider planting space should increase yield in Cheorwon with potential utilization of kanef as a forage crop.
염류집적 시설재배온실 토양에서의 Cleaning crop인 옥수수 생리적 특성과 제염효과

After examining the difference in the photosynthesis rate of corn according to the planting distance, the distance of 40 × 40 cm showed the lowest rate by 23 days after transplanting (May 31); however, there was no significant difference in the photosynthesis rate due to increased salt tolerance in the plant as time went by. As for the difference in growth features of a plant, the planting distance of 40×40cm showed a growing disorder due to the influence of salt by 23 days after transplantation (May 31); however, there was a desirable growth as time went by. For the difference in the salt content within a plant, the planting distance of 40×40cm tended to be higher than other planting distances, and the K+ content is much higher than other kinds of salt after examining the difference in salt absorption. As for the correlation between saline components within a plant, there was a significant negative correlation among K<sup>+</sup>, Ca<sup>2+</sup>, and Na<sup>+</sup> while there was a significant positive correlation among Mg<sup>2+</sup>, Ca<sup>2+</sup>, and Na+. After examining the effectiveness of salt removal from soil according to corn cultivation, the planting distance of 30×30cm showed a remarkable decrease by 37 days, compared with 23 days, after transplantation in K<sup>+</sup> by 28%, Ca<sup>2+</sup> by 36.6 %, Mg<sup>2+</sup> by 30.6 %, and Na<sup>+</sup> by 22.9 %. And the salt content is higher in surface soil than in subsoil.
아크릴아마이드 저감화된 콜드칩 가공용 우수감자 계통 선발

본 연구는 콜드칩 가공용 감자 계통을 선발하고자, 47계통과 대조구 품종인 ‘대서’, ‘수미’, ‘구이벨리’의 수확 후, 4℃, 8℃ 저온저장 및 20℃ 가온 조정처리에 따른 glucose함량, 아크릴아마이드 함량 및 두 형질 간의 상관성을 비교분석하였다. 대조구 품종 및 47계통 모두에서 수확 후, glucose 함량이 0.25% 이하, 아크릴아마이드 함량 1000ppb이하로 나타났고, 4℃ 저온저장에 의해 glucose와 아크릴아마이드 함량 모두 급격히 증가하였으며, H7, H13, H16, H40등 4계통에서만 500ppb 이하로 검출되었다. 8℃ 저온저장 역시 두 함량 모두 증가하였으나, 4℃ 저온저장에 비해 비교적 낮게 나타났으며, 20℃ 가온 조정에 의해서도 두 함량 모두 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 저온저장에 따른 glucose 함량과 아크릴아마이드 함량 간의 상호관계를 분석한 결과 정의 상관성을 확인할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 저온처리에도 낮은 glucose 함량을 나타낸 H7, H13, H16, H40계통들이 낮은 함량의 아트릴아마이드 함유한 것으로 나타나 콜드 칩가공용 우수 감자 계통으로 선발할 수 있었다. In order to select potato clones for making cold chip, this study analyzed the glucose content, acrylamide content, and the correlation between the two properties after harvest, 4℃ and 8℃ low-temperature storage, and 20℃ heating treatment of 47 breeding clones and control cultivars ‘Atlantic’, ‘Sumi’, and ‘Gui Valley’. In all of the control cultivars and 47 clones, glucose content was below 0.25% and acrylamide content was below 1000 ppb just after harvest, but after 4℃ low-temperature storage both the glucose content and acrylamide content increased rapidly and only 4 clones H7, H13, H16, and H40 showed a level below 500 ppb. In 8℃ low-temperature storage as well both contents increased, but the increase was relatively smaller than that in 4℃ low-temperature storage. In addition, 20℃ heating treatment decreased both contents. In the results of analyzing the correlation between glucose content and acrylamide content at low-temperature storage, a positive correlation was observed. In conclusion, clones H7, H13, H16, and H40 showing low glucose content even at low-temperature treatment were found to contain less acrylamide and therefore they were selected as potato clones suitable for making cold chip.
