Adaptive User-by-User Weighted Parallel Interference Cancellations for CDMA Systems

The conventional parallel interference cancellation (CPIC) system deteriorates performance in low signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) situations since it cancels the total amount of unreliable interference estimate at each iteration stage. The weighted PIC (WPIC) systems demonstrate substantial performance improvement, in that interference estimate is partially canceled with some weight and the amount of cancellation increases as the fidelity of estimate grows by iteration. The weights of the WPIC systems are determined stage by stage and set as fixed values by the operator, and thus not adaptive to the practical mobile communication environments. In this paper, we propose a new WPIC system which adjusts weights adaptively to the changing environments. The performance of the proposed PIC system in a synchronous static channel with unequal power and different number of users is evaluated based on computer simulations.
