The purpose of this study is to show the effects of puppetry mediated interv entions in developing normal children's contact - willingness , perception, and knowledge about handicapped children. The objects of this study were 847 students of first , third and fifth grades in Jang - San and Hae- Dong Elementary School. As the result of the study , the conclusion was obtained as follows : First , puppetry mediated intervention is useful methods to enhance the normal children's perception of handicap. More over the effect lasts . Especially this method is found to be more effective to the first grade students better than third and fifth grade students . There is no distinct differences between two sexes . Second, puppetry mediated intervention is useful methods to develop the normal students' contact - willingness toward the handicapped. The effect of them is found to last . Especially this method is found to be more effective to the first grade students better than third and fifth grade students . There is no distinct differences between two sexes . Third, puppetry mediated intervention is useful methods to grow the normal children's under standings of handicap. Also, continuous effect was appear ed. Especially this method is found to be more effective to the third grade students better than first and fifth grade students . There is no distinct differences between two sexes .

This thesis was researched with the various approaches to puppetry and the effectiveness of using puppetry for hadicapped children and also shows how to apply to the special educational situation and make puppetry more popular. For these points I researched their effectiveness bearing in mind the following : education, language, communicative skills, curability, diagnosis, school life and drama. Main conclusions: First, puppetry cannot only develop the imagination and ability of hadicapped children but also change the negative attitude of normal children toward hadicapped children. Second, puppetry make communication more effective and interesting between adults and hadicapped children. Third, puppetry can affect the curability and diagnosis for hadicapped children and also be used in both classrooms (normal children and hadicapped children). Fourth, when we use puppetry to creative drama, we can grow aesthetically and creatively.

A novel electro-mechanical implantable ventricular assist system is developed as a bridge to transplantation or recovery for patients with end-stage heart failure. The developed system is composed of an implanted blood pump, an external monitoring system which stores data, and a wearable system including a portable external driver and a portable power supply system. The blood pump is designed to be implanted into the left upper abdominal space and provides blood flow from the left ventricular apex to the aorta. The pulsatile blood flow is generated by a double cylindrical cam. There was mo excessive heat emission from the blood pump into the temperature-controlled chamber in the heat test and no stagnated flow within the blood sac by the observation in the flow visualization test. Animal experiments were performed using sheep and calves. The maximum assist flow rate reached 7.85L/min in the animal experiment. The evaluation results showed that the developed system was feasible for the implantable ventricular assist system. The long-term in vitro durability test and mid-term in vivo experiments are in progress and mow the modified next model is under development.
