Integration in mathematics has a wide range of application, such as the calculation of area, volume, length of curves, and the moment of inertia. This paper, by showing the process of proving that e and are irrational numbers and that e is a transcendental number and also several proofs of with the concept of integration, attempts to attract the interest of students in mathematics. In addition, this paper attempts to show that students develop interest in mathematics when they are encouraged to solve the problems by their own methods which are not mentioned in the texts. In this context, it was found that fresh teaching materials, mathematical games, extensions of text materials, and introduction of unknown facts of mathematics are the factors that can enhance the students's interest in mathematics. Finally, this paper suggests that the students also should be given the chances to participate in the development of instruction materials.

The Value of Jeju Island Biosphere Reserve as an Internationally Protected Area

This research analyzed the environmental, social, and economic value of Jeju Island BR. The findings from this research enable us to draw the following as conclusions in relation to the value of Jeju Island BR as an internationally protected area. First: The value of BR humans can receive through conservation as an indirect use depends on two factors. One is what sectors of BR are covered in examining its value. The other is the default factor which is substituted in the estimation of an economic value by sector of the BR. Second: Sustainable use of BR refers to its direct use. It is of course true that the direct use provides humans with many benefits in terms of improving material affluence and convenience in life. Third: Sustainable use does not mean there is no impact on the conservation of BR, but it means minimal impact on the entire BR or within the resilience of natural circulating ecosystem. Fourth: In the context of the above third conclusion, it would be necessary to conduct an empirical research on whether the current land-use in BR is within its carrying capacity. Fifth: In order to achieve the land-use within the carrying capacity of BR, there must be an explicit consideration of ecological implications of the existing social and economic decision as a cultural ethos in a way to environmentalism from consumerism. Sixth: Change in human perspective on the relation between humans and nature from anthropocentrism to ecocentrism is a necessary condition to establish environmentalism as a cultural ethos. Seventh: Nonetheless, nature and human activities toward nature have been in a conflicting relationship throughout the history of human civilization. The conflicting relationship may be termed a dialectic process through historical stages.

이 연구는 순천만 국제정원박람회 방문객의 만족도와 순천지역 재방문 의사를 조사하였으며, 이에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 파악하였다. 주요 분석결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국제정원박람회 이전에 순천지역을 방문한 경험이 있는 방문객이 과반수이상으로 많았으며, 주로 TV나 인터넷 홍보를 통해 방문하게 되었다. 둘째, 대부분가족이나 친지, 친구 등과 함께 박람회를 관람하였으며, 생태도시인 순천의 자연경관을 보기위한 목적으로 방문하였다. 셋째, 순천에서의 체류기간은 대체로 하루 이내로짧은 것으로 분석되었으며, 박람회 방문 이후에는 대체로 바로 귀가할 것이라고 나타났다. 넷째, 국제정원박람회의 전체적인 만족도를 조사한 결과 지리적 접근성은 대체로 만족도가 높았고, 자연 경관 역시 만족도가 평균 이상으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 국제정원박람회의 재방문 의사에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과 연령이 낮을수록, 미혼일수록, 순천에 방문 경험이 있을수록, 향후 박람회에 재방문할 의사가 높은 것으로분석되었다.

대학수학(미분적분학의 이해, 생활과 수학)수업에서, 공간좌표 단원과 도형편을 지도할 때, 구체적인 모델을 들고 또, 구체적인 예-쌍곡기하에서는, ⅰ) 삼각형의 세 내각의 크기의 합은 180도 보다 작다. ⅱ) 피타고라스 정리가 성립하지 않는다. ⅲ) 세 내각의 크기가 90도이고 한 내각의 크기가 90도 보다 작은 사각형이 존재한다.는 예를 들어 유클리드 기하와 쌍곡기하에 대해 비교 설명하며 수업 흥미를 불러 일으키고, 새로운 세계에 대한 생각을 할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다.

This study is to introduce mean value theorem(MVT) for derivative and integral and show another proofs. The proofs of for derivative and Cauchy MVT is shown by Rolle's theorem and determinants. From MVT for derivative, another proposition is driven and proved. Also the proof of MVT for integral is shown with Rolle's theorem and without Rolle's theorem. From MVT for integral, we drive some theorems and prove. Through these drive and proof methods, the students will get the curiosity and interest in college mathematics.

Many students in college do not realize the importance of mathematics for their major studies and for the development of logical reasoning ability. The purpose of this study is to seek the ways to help college students understand the importance and necessity of mathematics, and thereby. help them to do math study with more enthusiasm and interest. First, we can help students recognize the importance of mathematics through giving attractive lectures on the wonders of mathematics. Second, by giving detailed explanation about the necessity of mathematics in daily lives, we can remind the students of the importance of mathematics. Finally, we can explain to the students how vastly mathematics could be applied. Actually, mathematics makes the basis of most engineering, technology, and natural science fields. Moreover, even the areas of music and sports requires knowledge of mathematics. By explaining such wide applicability of mathematics. we can make students recognize the importance and necessity of mathematics. When the students keep the importance of mathematics in mind, they will attend mathematics lectures more enthusiastically and develop more interest in mathematics

수학학습에 관심과 흥미를 불러일으키려고 수학의 중요성과 필요성을 수학 자체와 여러 과목 사이의 관계를 통해서 학생들에게 알리는 한편, 수학의 중요성과 필요성에 대해 수학이 공학의 여러 과목에 구체적으로 이용되는 예를 들고, 또 자연과학, 음악, 체육과 인문ㆍ사회과학 등에 포함된 문제의 해결을 하며 더 많은 정보를 얻는 구체적인 예를 제시한다. 또 본 대학 공대 교수와 공대 학생들에게 설문 조사를 한 결과를 정리하여 알아보고 도움을 주려고 한다.

In this paper, we introduced harmonic series and p-series and tried to show other diverse different proofs of harmonic series and p-series, which are not usually mentioned in most college mathematics texts. Those are 1) contradiction method 2) integral test 3) rearrangement of series and 4) Cauchy Condensation Test. We hope that our introduction of the above listed diverse ways of proving harmonic series and hope that this study will help the students to gain the ability to see an object from various different points of view, which will mean a great deal to their work on college mathematics.
