This research studies the influence of hours of volunteer work as an adjusting factor in the relation between the reliability of an organization and the amount of donations. Trust and donation is the key to social development in the 21st century and thus the correlation of the three variables is becoming the major interest of many social science researchers. Moreover, the rising demand for welfare services calls for research on the amount of donations in order to provide the social welfare sector with proper finances. Therefore, this study analyzes in what way the reliability of an organization influences the amount of donations according to types of organizations (social welfare organizations, the central government, large corporations, civic groups, charities, political parties, religious organizations, interest groups, ducational organizations, medical institutions). As a result, reliability in a medical institution increased the amount of donations. Also, as regards? the relation between the reliability of an organization and the amount of donation, hours of volunteer work had adjusting effects among civic groups and charities. Hence, an increase in volunteer work led to a rise in donations among civic groups and charities. However, an increase in volunteer work appeared to reduce the amount of donations among social welfare organizations and interest groups, implying that volunteer work played a role of a substitute to donation. According to the researchj, with the exception of a medical institution, reliability of an organization in Korea could not increase the amount of donations. And volunteer work was a substitute to donations. This study, therefore, suggests that each organization should maintain a high level of reliability and make efforts to change the role of volunteer work to a supplement rather than a substitute so as to increase the amount of donations. 본 연구는 조직체의 신뢰성과 기부규모와의 관계에서 자원봉사활동 시간의 조절효과를 검증한 것이다. 신뢰, 기부 및 자원봉사는 21세기 사회발전의 중요한 축으로서, 이 세 변수의 상호관계는 최근 연구의 관심주제로 떠오르고 있다. 또한 복지서비스에 대한 수요가 증가하면서, 사회복지 영역의 재정확충을 위한 기부규모의 증대가 필요하게 되었다. 따라서 조직체의 신뢰성에 대한 변수를 사회복지단체, 중앙정부, 대기업, 시민단체, 자선단체, 정당, 종교기관, 이익단체, 교육기관, 의료기관 등으로 구분하여 기부규모에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 그 결과 의료기관에 대한 신뢰성이 기부규모를 증가시키는 변수임이 확인되었다. 조직체의 신뢰성과 기부규모의 관계에서 자원봉사활동 시간은 시민단체와 자선단체에서 조절효과를 보여, 시민단체 및 자선단체에서 자원봉사활동 시간과 기부규모가 보완재의 관계임을 알 수 있었다. 반면, 사회복지단체 및 이익단체의 자원봉사활동 시간 증가는 기부규모를 감소시키는 것으로 나타나 자원봉사활동 시간과 기부규모는 대체재 관계임을 알 수 있었다. 의료기관을 제외한 우리나라 조직체의 신뢰성은 기부규모를 증가시키지 못하고 있다. 또한 조직체에 따른 자원봉사활동 시간은 기부규모와 대체재 또는 보완재관계로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구는 기부규모의 증가를 위해서 모든 조직체가 높은 신뢰성을 확보하고, 기부규모와 자원봉사활동 시간이 대체재에서 보완재의 관계로 전환되어야 함을 제언한다.
