Purpose : This study is to examine what are the effects of the Jaeumpalmijeon(JPJ) on the ovariectomized rat model of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Methods : 12weeks Female Sprague-Dawley 30 rats of weighting 250-300g, were divided into three groups including the sham operation groups(10heads) and overiectomy groups(10heads). then we observed changes in the body weight, serum metabolic products and femoral trabecular bone. Results : 1. Body weight in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham, but that in JPJ-treated showed no change in comparison with control. 2. The level of serum albumin in control group showed significant decrease in comparison with sham. That in JPJ-treated was slightly decreased in comparison with control. 3. The level of serum ALP activity in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham, but that in JPJ-treated was significantly decreased in comparison with control. 4. The level of serum AST in control group showed no change in comparison with sham, but that in JPJ-treated was significantly decreased in comparison with control. The level of serum ALT did not significant change among the three groups. 5. Trabecular bone area as well as trabecular thickness in control group showed significant decrease in comparison with sham. Those in JPJ-treated showed significant increase in comparison with control. 6. Trabecular separation in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham. Those in JPJ-treated showed significant decrease in comparison with control. 7. Osteoclast number and oseoblast surface in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham. Those in JPJ-treated showed significant decrease in comparison with control. Conclusion : JPJ has shown to be capable of preventing and curing osteoporosis caused by old-aged and postmenopause.
開鬱種玉湯이 생쥐에 束縛 Stress 負荷後 血中 Hormone 含量과 免疫能 變化에 미치는 影響

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of Kaewooljongoktang water extract (KJT) on immobilization stress in C57BL/6J mice. KJT decreased the serum level of histamine and corticosterone increased by immobilization stress. In addition, KJT enhanced the cell viability of thymocytes and splenocytes decreased by immobilization stress. Also, KJT increased the viability of thymocytes and did not affect the viability of splenocytes in vitro. KJT did not affect DNA fragmentation of thymocytes and decreased DNA fragmentation of splenocytes increased by immobilization stress. KJT did not affect the population of thymic CD4+ cells increased by immobilization stress, and increased the population of B220+ cells decreased by immobilization stress and increased the population of splenic CD4+ cells increased by immobilization stress. KJT enhanced the production of -interferon, IL-2 and IL-4 decreased by immobilization stress. Also, KJT enhanced the phagocytic activity decreased by immobilization stress and enhanced the level of nitric oxide decreased by immobilization stress. These results indicate that KJT may be useful for the prevention and treatment of stress via suppression of serum histamine and corticosterone level and enhancement of specific- and nonspecific-immune response.
가미귀비탕(加味歸脾湯)이 백서(白鼠)의 배란(排卵)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Gamiguibitang(GMGBT) is used in amenorrhea and female infertility caused by ovulation disorder. An attempt was made to evaluate the influences of GMGBT on the serum concentrations of FSH, LH, estradiol(E2) and progesterone, the histological and optical changes of ovary of rats. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Blood FSH level significantly increased in experimental group controlled by four times quantity as compared with control group. 2. Blood LH level increased in experimental group controlled by four times quantity as compared with control group, which showed no efficacy. 3. Blood E2 level increased in experimental group controlled by four times quantity as compared with control group, which showed no efficacy. 4. Blood progesterone level significantly decreased in experimental group controlled by double quantity as compared with control group. 5. In optically observations of ovary, weight of ovary significantly increased in experimental group controlled by double quantity as compared with control group 6. In histological observations of ovary, ovulation significantly increased in experimental group controlled by both double and four times quantity as compared with control group. According to these results, it can be concluded that GMGBT influences the pituitary gland and ovary to increase the ovulation of rats.
