Amplification of Nonclassical Light in Phase Space
2012 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.60 No.1
The scale transformation acting on P-functions associated with density operators of light is introduced as an amplification process for single-mode radiation fields. The P-amplification does not always yield a physical state out of the given nonclassical state; in particular, there are some restrictions on the degree of amplification that depend on how nonclassical the initial state is. The exact constructions of P-amplified density operators for two- and three-dimensional Hilbert spaces are carried out explicitly.

Facial nerve palsy is an uncommon complication of surgery for chronic otitis media. Its onset may be immediate or delayed by several days. The cause of delayed facial nerve palsy is not known clearly. Reactivation of herpes virus is thought to be an important etiologic factor in the development of postoperative delayed onset of facial paralysis. The authors present a case of delayed facial nerve palsy caused by reactivation of varicella-zoster virus after middle ear and mastoid surgery. The diagnosis was made by serological tests. This rare case is presented with the review of the delayed facial palsy after surgery for chronic otitis media.

The nasolabial cyst is uncommon midfacial cyst. It is a cystic ectodermal developmental swelling which occurs as a cyst on the lateral half of the nasal vestibule at the base of the alae of the nose. The most characteristic clinical feature is progressive facial deformity, which is often associated with nasal airway obstruction. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice, and there is low incidence of recurrence. This article is a reports of a case of right nasolabial cyst and a review of literature.
