The object of the study is to compare the two representative methodologies of the Systematic Theology, i. e., the methodology of "Natural Theology" and that of "Theology of Revelation", through the analysis of the understanding of God of two greatest theologians of this century, Paul Tillich and KarlBarth. P. Tillich's "Systematic Theology" is grounded on the "methodof correlation" which finds out questions in the existential situation of human being, and gives answers to the questions from the message of the Bible, while K. Barth's "Church Dogmatics" begins with the task to prove the proclamation of the Church in its identity with the Revelation and to analyse the event of the revelation which is the norm and ground for theology and the whole life of the Church. In accordance with the method of correlation, God and man, God world stand in correlation without a special event for the relationship, while both sides stand for K. Barth in the qualitative difference. For K. Barththe relationship between God and man is possible only through the mediation of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. For P. Tillich God is not one object among objects; he is the ground of being or Being itself on which all finite beings are grounded. He is therefore not a totally other being hut Being itself of all finite beings. For Barth God aria unique object, namely the object of faith, is the totally other being from all finite beings. His objectivity revealed in Jesus Christ is his grace and a wonder for man. With regard to the perception of God, the so-called "natural perception" is possible for P. Tillich, in so far asall finite beings are participated in God as their Being itself in spite of their existential estrangement from him. For Barth the "natural perception" is impossible, because all finite beings are separated from God throug God through the reality of sin and evil. The only way for the perception is the Revelation of Jesus Christ as the object of faith, obedience and adoration. Not through the analysis of human existence, but through the grace of God, through the faith in him we can perceive him. In conclusion the study raises some problems of Tillich's theology as well as Barth's theology.
