Facility management is a profession to maximize the value of facilities and the value of facility professionals who play the key role in practice is rapidly increasing. However, the qualification system for facility professionals in Korea has not been established to secure their social status. Furthermore, not any standard has been proposed for international cooperation. The purpose of this study is to propose a desirable approach to introduce a qualification system for facility management in Korea. Some of similar qualifications have been investigated on the basis of Korean qualification rule. Other qualification systems in U.S., England, and Japan also compared. A new qualification system in Korea, which can be differentiated from existing systems and also related to the foreign system, has been proposed with the conditions on education and work experience. Soon after the beginning of the 15th century, a movement appeared in the palazzo design which led to a fundamental advance in function and appearance. The cortile was an important element of Renaissance palazzo and its facade design went through an interesting procedure of solving a problem. This study examines for Renaissance palazzi to verify the enduring trials of finding the most rational approach for corner treatment of cortile. The palazzo design of the early Renaissance was articulated mainly by the two great personalities of Brunelleschi and Alberti. From the classic-Roman principles of the two, Renaissance architects devised characteristic designs for cortile elevations. A combination of classic columns with L-shaped piers and pilasters became the basis of cortile design. Although all these changes appeared only for about 50-years in the late-15th century, they influenced on the development of architecture for the following centuries in terms of elevation design.

This paper empirically compares the association between ambient temperature and the work values of individualism, power distance, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and future orientation culture dimensions developed by Hofstede and GLOBE. The results show that power distance has a positive relation to temperature in terms of Hofstede and GLOBE’s power distance values. Temperature has a negative relation to Hofstede’s individualism score and GLOBE’s institutional collectivism score. Regarding the masculinity dimension, temperature has a positive and significant relation to Hofstede’s masculinity score and a negative relation to the egalitarianism score. Temperature is not significantly related to uncertainty avoidance or long-term orientation according to Hofstede’s scales, but it does have a significant relation to them in terms of GLOBE’s scales. Some important managerial and theoretical implications are suggested.
