N/A The aim of this paper is to obtain robust time series estimates of the efficiency of each area to employ DEA/window. A stochastic frontier production function that incorporates a model for technical inefficiency effects is used to investigate the industrial production of livestock industries. Parameters considered in the model for inefficiency effects include size, floating-fixed capital ratios, wages-variable expenses ratios, import liberalization and time. The results indicate that the tune trend of efficiency among regions shows a rising pattern and the gap of efficiency among regions diminishes in hog sector, while the time trend of efficiency among regions is fixed and unchangeable in cattle sector since 1989. The technical efficiency generally increases with size in all sectors when size is defined as breeding number. The relationship between floating-fixed capital ratios and efficiency is positive in hog model and negative in cattle model. The relationship between wages-variable expenses ratios and efficiency is negative in all model. The import liberalization has negative impact on technical efficiency.

N/A Multivariate analysis methods are available to classify and explain business failures of marketing facilities of agricultural products. We first discuss process of business failures. We then analysis the clusters, determinants and gap of business failures and estimate causal relation between these determinants by using a regression model. Finally, we identify four categories of business failures: the type of inbound logistics failure, the type of marketing and sales failure, the type of financial and accounting failure, and the type of lack of a unified marketing process.

This paper examines the relative competitive position of korean forest products market over period of 1999 to 2003 and selects strategic exported goods from its position provide against concluding FTA agreement with China, Japan and ASEAN. The poilfolio approach is used to develope competitiveness-market share matrix. The position of major export countries on the competitiveness-market share matrix will be in one of nine cells, with differing implications for their role in korean forest products market. Based the competitiveness-market share matrix, Major export countries are divided into first cell type. third cell type and ninth cell type and the items of ninth cell type are chosen as strategic exportable goods.

N/A This paper examines the relative competitive positions of major export countries in korean forest products market over period of 1999 to 2003. To use the portfolio approach, the new competitiveness coefficient and competitiveness-market share matrix are developed. The position of major export countries on the competitiveness-market share matrix will be in one of nine cells, with differing implications for their role in korean forest products market. Based the competitiveness-market share matrix, we classify major export countries into first cell type, third cell type and ninth cell type.
