Purpose Intervertebral discs (IDs) in human and animalbackbones resist compression and shear due to the nucleuspulposus (NP). The NP is mainly composed of water andaggrecan protein. As humans age, IDs degenerate, andaggrecan and water in the NP decrease; however, the relativewater density with respect to fixed aggrecan density increases. In this paper, changes in aggrecan’s structure with respect tochanges in water density in the NP were explored. Methods The atomic coordinates in aggreacan were takenfrom the Protein Data Bank. The molecular dynamicssimulation was implemented by using NAMD and VMDsoftwares To investigate the effect of water density in the NP,we used cubic water boxes with thickness 6, 20, and 30 Å. Results We found that the number of hydrophilic hydrogenbonds increase, the RMSD(root-mean-square density) ofamino acid residues decrease, and random coil secondarystructures with low RMSD appears, as the thickness of waterboxes increase from 6 to 30 Å. Conclusions According to the simulation study, as therelative water density in NP increases, highly fluctuatingsecondary structures are changed into low-fluctuation andlow-energy random coil structures.
Integral representations in electrical impedance tomography using boundary integral operators

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) problem with anisotropic anomalous region is formulated in a few different ways using boundary integral operators. The Fr´echet derivative of Neumann-to-Dirichlet map is computed also by using boundary integral operators and the boundary of the anomalous region is approximated by trigonometric expansion with Lagrangian basis. The numerical reconstruction is done in case that the conductivity of the anomalous region is isotropic. 간질환 환자 혈청에서 ELISA를 이용한 angiogenin 측정의 평가

Backgroud:Liver fibrosis by the progression of the chronic processes of the liver diseases induces deforrned microcirculations of the hepatic lobules. And this eventually resolted in portal hypertension. On the other hands, angiogenic stimu4nt factors are physiologically activated in order to repair the tissue damage. Overexpression of angiogenic factors, however, can stimulate neovascularization as in a fonnation of the tumor that liberates uncontrolled overgrowing of the tumor cells. Methods: To elucidate the dynamic changes of the serum concentration of angiogenin in chronic liver diseases, this study is intended to employ an ELISA in 44 pathologically proven patients. Quantikiae_(TM) human angiogenin kit (R & D,systems Inc. Mmneapolis, MN) was used for this investigation. Results:Mean value and standard error of angiogenin concentration (ng/ml) of the sera was 238.92+ 50.95 in 5 cases of chronic persistent hepatitis, 184.47+ 12.75 in 6 cases of chronic active hepatitis, 131.36+ 10.99 in 19 cases of liver cirrhosis, and 211.03+ 19.08 in 14 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, respectively. Serum angiogenin level in the liver cirrhosis was significantly lower than in chronic persistent hepatitis(p=0.00336), and than in chronic active hepatitis(p=0.018673). Angiogenin concentration in hepatocellular carcinomas was significantly higher than the level of the liver cirrhosis investigated(p=0.00569). Conclusions:These data support that persistent inflammatory insults in the chronic hepatitis were compensated by the elevation of angiogenin but complete fibrosis as in liver cirrhosis showed the depressed level. And emerging of the hepatocellular carcinoma is accompanied by the elevated stimuli of angiogenin for the neovascularization.
수도권매립지 반입 폐기물 성상분석: 생활폐기물에 혼합 반입되는 음식물쓰레기 중심으로

세계보건기구는 홍콩독감, 신종플루 이후 코로나19 유행을 세 번째 팬데믹으로 선언했으며 2019년 말부터 현재까지 국내에도 코로나19의 대유행이 지속되고 있습니다. 작년 국내 배달음식업체의 매출을 증가 및 집에서 식사하는 문화는 점차 확산시켜오고 있으며 이는 신종플루때와 비슷한 양상을 보이고 있습니다. 과거 우리나라는 2005년부터 음식물쓰레기 직매립 금지 및 런던 협약으로 인한 음식물 쓰레기처리폐수(이하 음폐수라 함)의 해양투기금지를 하고 있습니다. 음식물쓰레기 및 음폐수의 육상처리가 대두됨에 따라 음식물쓰레기종량제(2013년)가 시행되었으며 수도권매립지에 혼합 반입되어 들어오는 음식물쓰레기는 10% 이하로 관리되고 있습니다. 수도권매립지 통계연감을 통해 생활폐기물 내 음식물쓰레기함량을 보면 직매립 이후 가장 많은 함량을 차지한 년도는 신종플루가 대유행하고 종식된 2009년(11.4%)과 2010년(12.6%)으로 확인되었습니다. 세 번째 펜데믹인 코로나19대유행으로 혼합 반입되어지는 음식물쓰레기의 함량이 증가할 것으로 예상됩니다. 따라서 생활폐기물의 물리적 성상을 모니터링하여 펜데믹과 생활폐기물 물리적조성과의 상관관계를 도출할 예정이다.
수도권매립지 반입 건설폐기물 및 중간처리잔재물의 물리·화학적 특성 분석

우리나라는 2003년 건설폐기물 촉진에 관한 법률을 시행 이후 발생량 대비 폐기물재활용률이 97% 이상으로 높게 유지되어 지고 있습니다. 그러나 전국 건설폐기물의 발생량은 꾸준하게 증가하고 있으며 건설폐기물을 재활용하기 위한 처리단계가 증가할수록 이물질 함량이 증가하고 활용도가 떨어져 최종처리단계인 매립을 통해 처리된다고 합니다. 수도권매립지 통계연감(2019)을 보면 건설폐기물 및 중간처리잔재물의 반입량은 전체 폐기물 대비 43.1%로 생활폐기물(23.3%)보다 많은 비중을 차지하고 있으며 가연성분을 보면 건설폐기물의 경우 33.8%, 중간처리잔재물은 47.3%로 다량의 가연성분을 함유하고 있습니다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 건설폐기물과 중간처리잔재물의 물질흐름 및 물리·화학적 특성을 분석하여 안정적인 매립지 관리를 위한 방은을 모색하였다.
류마토이드 관절염 환자에 대한 Recombinant Interferon Gamma 의 임상시험

N/A To evaluate antirheumatic efficacies and possibilities on treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with recombinant interferon-gamma, 44 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were treated with IFN-γ for 20 days and were analysed from the standpoint of Ritchie index, patient's assessment, laboratory findings and sideffect. The observed results are as follows: 1) 44 patients were enrolled, 40 patients could be evaluated. Of these, 22 were responders (55%) according to the criteria for treatment success. 2) In 35 patients, stabilized therapy was continued concomittant with the IFN-γ and were no significant differences with respect to the results of treatment. 3) In responders, Ritchie index decreased from 28 on the day of recruitment into the study to 15 on day 20. 4) The patients evaluation of morning pain and change in mobility showed more improvements in responders than non-responders. 5) Monitering of laboratory parameters revealed no therapeutically relevant changes. Side-effects occurred in 14 out of 40 patients. In 10 of these patients, transient fever was recorded.
