Growth and In-plane Magnetic Anisotropy of Inverse Spinel Co2MnO4 Thin Films
구태영,Jaeyeong Kim,송종현 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.65 No.10
Epitaxial Co2MnO4 thin films were grown on Nb(0.1wt.)-doped SrTiO3 single-crystal substrateswith (100) and (110) crystal orientations by using pulsed laser deposition. Their crystal structuresand magnetic properties were investigated. Both samples exhibited ferrimagnetic transitions withenhanced transition temperatures. Isotropic M-H loops were observed on the in-plane surface ofCo2MnO4(00l) grown on Nb(0.1wt)-doped SrTiO3(100). Strong magnetic anisotropy was observedon the in-plane surface for Co2MnO4(ll0) grown on Nb(0.1wt)-doped SrTiO3(110). A magnetic easyaxis existed along the elongated tetragonal direction. This was attributed to the strong interplaybetween the spin and lattice degrees of freedom in the Co2MnO4 thin film.
New Dielectric Anomaly in DyMn2−xGaxO5
구태영,강선희,이해준,김일원,장태환,정윤희 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.6
We have studied the effect of Ga3+ substitution into the Mn3+ site in DyMn2O5 on its multiferroic charateristics. Crystallographic structural, thermal, dielectric and magnetic properties are measured and discussed in terms of the dilution of magnetic Mn3+ ions. Replacement of Mn3+ with Ga3+ changes the compound into a disordered multiferroic system and the colossal magnetodielectric effect observed in DyMn2O5 diappears quickly below x 0.1 in DyMn2−xGaxO5. However, as the content of Ga is increased above x 0.1, a new type of ferroelectric transition, identified by a peak in dielectric constant, can be obtained from the slowly varying dielectric background. Moreover, a remarkable enhancement of the dielectric constant at the ferroelectric transition temperature is continued, even up to the solubility limit of Ga (x 0.2). This observation suggests one possible channel for ferroelectricity in disordered multiferroic systems.
Growth of Epitaxial DyMn2O5 Thin Films and Their Magnetic Properties
구태영,강선희,김일원,정윤희,송종현 한국물리학회 2012 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.61 No.9
We grew highly qualified epitaxial DyMn2O5 (DMO) thin films on an Nb-doped TiO2(110) single crystal substrate by using the pulsed laser deposition technique and studied their magnetic properties. Surface normal crystal direction was changed from DMO(002) to DMO(211) with increasing growth temperature from 750 ℃ to 950 ℃. Magnetic properties of the bulk-like were observed for the film grown at 950 ℃ while different behaviors from the bulk were observed for the film grown at 750 ℃. This alteration in the magnetic property is attributed to the structural deformation caused by the strain due to the substrate.

Two cases of primary torsion of the greater omentum were described. The first patient was a 5-year-old boy who was admitted to the hospital because of severe abdominal pain for 1 day. The The clinical features were similar to perforated acute appendicitis. Laparotomy revealed a normal appendix and the greater omentum twisted around its pedicle. The second patient was a 7-year-old girl admitted to the hospital because of abdominal pain in right lower quadrant for 2 days. The clinical features? were that of acute appendicitis. Laparotomy revealed a normal appendix and primary torsion of greater omentum around its pedicle. In both cases, resection of twisted omentum and incidental appendectomy were done. The microscopic findings in two cases consisted of congestion and vascular hemorrhage. Both patients recovered uneventfully. Torsion of the greater omentum, therefore, may be added to the entities to consider in the differential diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
