In this paper, numerically evaluated is the regulations for crashworthy design of the Korean standard urban train suggested by KRRI. The 4-car consist of K-EMU(Korean Electric Multiple Unit) train developed in recent is analyzed under various collision conditions such as normal coupling, heavy shunt, light and heavy collisions. The collision conditions are assumed as K-EMU collides against another stationary one at 5 kph, 10 kph, 25 kph and 32 kph. According to the numerical results and bibliographical study, it is necessary that the regulations by KRRI be complemented from crashworthy point of view. Furthermore, the K-EMU train is recommended to adopt a new coupler with an additional energy absorber or a mechanical fuse.

A study on collision analysis of TGV-K using a 2-dimensional model is described to evaluate its crashworthiness. Two-dimensional analysis gives good information on overriding behaviour and impact forces applied to interconnecting devices such as side buffers, ball &socket joints, hooks, pins, and fingers. Since the headstock of TGV-K is not designed in a crashworthy point of view, its conceptual design for KHST(Korean High Speed Train), under development, is suggested to improve crashworthiness. The suggested design, which adopts an energy absorber and a crashworthy headstock, is compared with the conventional headstock on dynamic behaviour to the vertical direction under the accident scenario of SNCF (collision at 110 ㎞/h against a movable rigid mass of 15 ton). It is concluded that the design modification make little difference in vertical motion. To evaluate validation of the 2-dimensional model, the results for longitudinal motion is compared with those of 1-dimemsional one. It is found that the two results are in good agreements.

In this paper, an engineering database management system(EDMS) has been developed to support the system engineering for design of the high speed titling train to be put into the conventional lines. The developed system can be operated on client-server or web circumstances. To accomplish the concurrent engineering in design of the rolling stocks, this system has been fully equipped with a powerful viewer and a postprocessor for 3D CAD data or FE results. The system was tested using the engineering data produced during carrying out the G7 project to design KHST(Korean High Speed Train) in a crash worthy viewpoint. Through this example, it is shown that the system should be powerfully applied to improving the performance of the system engineering.

In this study, the crashworthy design of the full rake of KHST (Korean High Speed Train under development in G7-project) is numerically evaluated using 2-dimensional crash dynamics. The results of KHST are compared with those of TGV-K (TGV for Seoul-Pusan line). KHST shows better crashworthy behaviors after impact. Specifically, impact forces, decelerations and overriding displacements are much reduced in KHST. All the design guidelines under SNCF accident scenario (collision against a movable rigid mass of 15 ton at 110 ㎞/h) are satisfied in KHST.
고속전철 TGV-K 전체 차량에 대한 충돌안전도 해석 연구

Described in this paper is the result of a study on collision analysis of TGV-K using I-dimensional model for crashworthy design. Crashworthy design of the front end is very important because majority of the impact energy (more than 70%) is absorbed by the crush of the front end when the train is collided with an obstacle like a tank lorry, Guideline for the crashworthy design can be described from the collision analysis of the whole train using a 1-dimensional model. Since the headstock of TGV-K is not designed in a crashworthy point of view, a conceptual design of the headstock to improve crashworthiness is suggested and evaluated using 1-dimensional collision analysis. The suggested design, which adopts an energy absorber and a crashworthy headstock, shows a good behaviour on the accident scenario of SNCF (collision at 110 ㎞/hr against a movable rigid mass of 15 ton).

Through the previous studies(I,II), it was observed that human follicular fluid(HFF) was more effective than human fetal cord serum(HFCS) on promoting meiotic resumption of oocytes and improving embryonic development of mouse in vitro. On the basis of these results, we have gradually exchanged HFCS with HFF as protein supplement in human ART. This study was performed to investigate the efficiency of HFF on improving the pregnancy rate in ART. Oocytes were retrieved transvaginally from patients treated with pituitary suppression with GnRH-agonist and ovarian stimulation with human menopausal gonadotro-pin(HMG) and pure follicle stimulating hormone(FSH). Aspirated oocytes were rinsed and cultured in TCM-199 containing HFF, and the concentrations of HFF were adjusted to 10, 20, and 30% according to the use for insemination, embryo growth and embryo transfer, respectively. As possible as, we tried to do embryo transfer into fallopian tube to mimic the coincidence of the cell stage with the place of sojourn in vivo, so we performed various ART programs(IVF & ET; in vitro fertilization, ZIFT; zygote intra fallopian-tube transfer, ZIFT & ET) according to the tubal conditions of patients. On the while, intra cytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI) was used to assist IVF of the patients who had shown poor standard IVF results by immunological or severe male factor. Of the 255 cycles of ART programs using HFF as protein supplement, 118 cycles were turn out to be succeeded in pregnancy(46.2%, per cycle, p<0.05), while 21 pregnancies were achieved in the 69 cycles using HFCS(30.4%). The 255 cycles using HFF were subdivided into cycles with the type of ART programs, and each pregnancy rate of the ART programs were 44.7% (IVF & ET, 76/170 cycles), 53.4%(ZIFT, 31/58 cycles) and 40.7% (ZIFT & ET, 11/27 cycles), respectively. In the 61 ICSI cycles using HFF, 28 cycles succeed in pregnancy(45.9%), while 7 pregnancies were obtained in the 17 ICSI cycles using HFCS. Also the ongoing pregnancy rate in the group using HFF(78.8%, 93/118 cycles) was higher than that in the group using HFCS(61.9%). Therefore, we found that the use of HFF as protein supplement was more suitable and effective than the use of HFCS to improve the pregnancy rate in ART.

Because a driver is located in the front end of KHST, he is most likely to be insured at collision accidents. So, it is very important to design some survival space for the driver. To evaluate the driver"s safety of KHST (Korean High Speed Train), the front structure of power car is analysed using PAMCRASH under the SNCF accident scenario(collision against a movable rigid mass 15 ton at 110 ㎞/h). Because the driver"s cab of KHST is a modified version of TGV-K, which is not so strong as to protect him, it turns out to be inadequate to guarantee his survival space. Therefore it is recommended to redesign the driver"s cab in a crash worthy point of view like the case of TGV-Duplex or NEC.
