국내에서 녹비작물로 이용되는 헤어리베치의 채종용 지지식물로 적합한 밀 품종을 선발하고자 국내에서 장려되거나 재배되었던 금강밀을 포함한 33개 밀 품종을 대상으로 지지효과를 시험하였다. 수원에 위치한 국립식량과학원 시험포장에서 2008년 10월 8일에 보라 헤어리베치와 밀을 3:1 비율로 혼합하여 4 kg/10a을 50cm 간격으로 조파 재배하여 헤어리베치 종자 수확 시기에 도복 정도를 조사한 결과 올밀, 조은밀, 금강밀 은 도복 정도가 4~5 정도로 6 이상을 나타 낸 다른 밀 품종에 비해 지지 효과가 우수하였고 헤어리베치 종자 수량도 조은밀 95kg/10a, 금강밀 94kg/10a, 올밀 86kg/10a로 다른 밀 품종에 비해 헤어리베치 종자 수량 이 높게 나타났다.
겔스캐너를 이용한 변성아크릴아마이드 겔의 형광 DNA 검출

형광 염료와 레이저 겔스캐너 장비를 이용하여 변성아크릴 아마이드 겔에서 전기 영동된 DNA를 신속하고 간편한 방법으로 기존의 은염색법과 비슷한 감도로 검출하고자 하였다. 변성아크릴아마이드 겔을 형광 염료인 SYBR Green (Molecular Probes)이나 Vistra Green (Amersham Bioscience) 0.01 X 희석액 (pH 8)으로 염색한 후 480nm 레이져, 520nm filer 옵션으로 스캔하여 DNA를 검출하였으며, 검출감도는 기존의 은염색법과 비슷하면서 염색 단계를 한 단계로 줄일 수 있었다. The denature polyacrylamide gel stain silver nitrate is used for routine nucleic acid detection. More sensitive stains, such as Vistra Green, SYBR Green are available to address a broad range of DNA applications requiring lower detection limits in polyacrylamide gel formats. Gel Scanners, laser-scanning instruments, provide sensitive fluorescence detection of DNA gel stains. We established one step fluorescent impregnation enhanced sensitivity with simple, rapid and low cost. We have applied this fluorescent staining procedure for the routine analysis of DNA profiles generated by SSR amplification.
방광암의 진단에 이용한 Bladder Tumor Antigen(BTA) Stat Test와 요세포검사와의 비교

Purpose We assessed the sensitivity and specificity of the noninvasive BTA stat test for detection of bladder cancer with special reference to the grades and stages of the tumors. Materials and Methods A total of 163 patients provided voided urine samples for the BTA stat test and cytopathological study. Each patient underwent cystoscopy. Transurethral resections were performed when a bladder tumor was seen or cystoscopic biopsies were obtained when a carcinoma in situ was suspected. Sensitivity was determined using voided urine samples from patients with histologically proven bladder cancer (n=125). Specificity was determined from patients with benign urologic disease (n=40), healthy volunteers (KTP donor, n=20), malignant urologic cancer other than bladder (n=18), non-urologic malignancy (n=2), and patients, with a history of bladder cancer but free of disease (n=24). The sensitivity and specificity of BTA stat test were compared to those of standard voided urine cytology, and the sensitivities of BTA stat test and urine cytology were stratified according to histologic grades and stages. Results Overall sensitivity of the BTA stat test and urine cytology were 86.6% and 45.2% specificity were 72.3% and 97.3% respectively. For each histologic grade of transitional cell carcinoma (grade 1, 2, 3, 4), sensitivity was 36.4%, 84.1%, 87.2% and 91.3% for BTA stat test, and 18.2%, 13.6%, 53.2% and 82.6% for urine cytology, respectively. For each stage of transitional cell carcinoma (stage Ta, T1 > T2), sensitivity was 50%, 81.5% and 98.4% for BTA stat test, and 0%, 5.6% and 75.4% for urine cytology, respectively. The false positive of BTA stat test was seen in patients with gross hematuria, urinary tract infection, urologic malignancy other than bladder cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Conclusion BTA stat test is a simple, non-invasive, inexpensive adjunct to cystoscopy with urine cytology. In our study the BTA stat test was clinically reliable in the diagnosis for bladder cancer, and can be used as a screening test for bladder cancer in patients with hematuria or irritative voiding symptoms.

A winter forage tetraploid rye (Secale cereale L.) cultivar, ‘Daegokgreen’, was developed at the Department of Central Area Crop Science, NICS, RDA in 2016. The mutant line ‘CG11003-8-B’, which was induced from rye cultivar ‘Gogu’ (diploid) by colchicine treatment, was selected for its excellent agronomic performance and was placed in preliminary yield trials for one year, 2013. The line was designated “Homil59” and was tested for regional yield trials at the four locations in Korea from 2014 to 2016. Finally, the new cultivar was named as the ‘Daegokgreen’ (grant number 8274). The leaf of cultivar ‘Daegokgreen’ is wide, long and dark-green color. The cultivar also has a big-size grain with light-brown color. The heading date of cultivar ‘Daegokgreen’ was April 17 which was 2 days later than that of check cultivar ‘Gogu’. The tolerance to cold and wet injury, and resistance to powdery mildew and leaf rust of the new cultivar were similar to those of the check cultivar but the resistance to the lodging of the new cultivar was stronger than that of the check. The average roughage fresh and dry matter yield of the new cultivar after 10 days from heading were 37.0 and 7.7 MT ha-1, respectively, which were similar to those (38.4 and 8.0 MT ha-1) of the check cultivar. The roughage quality of ‘Daegokgreen’ was higher in crude protein content (8.9%) than that of the check cultivar (7.9%), while was similar to the check in total digestible nutrients (56.9%). This cultivar is recommended for fall sowing forage crops at all of crop cultivation areas in Korea.
