Many studies are being carried out in search of alternative energy sources instead of fossil fuels in Korea. Wonju city has set up a waste recycling policy and constructed waste-to-energy facilities. The first Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) production plant (80 ton/day) in Korea was installed and operated in Wonju city. This plant has been operating with normal performance since 2006 and the Wonju city plans to install an additional RDF production plant (80 ton/day). Understandings the status and characteristics of wastes are the most important to effectively operate RDF manufacturing plants and waste-to-energy facilities. In this study, waste characteristics and generation rate by residential types, small sectors (Dong and Myun), seasons and waste generation in future were investigated for optimizing the manufacturing condition of RDF facilities. Waste generation was expected to decrease a little bit with keeping almost same amount by years up to 2025. Due to high moisture and ash contents in certain types of waste, RDF manufacturing facility operation would have some difficulties, so the city has to put efforts to collect better quality of waste by public understandings enhancement. The collected data of waste sampling and analysis by locations and types in small sectors would be used as basic information for other cities as well.

CMOS 65nm Active 2-port Inductor using tunable feedback resistance

In this paper, a novel CMOS high Q-factor active 2-port inductor with feedback resistor has been proposed, mathematically analyzed and fabricated. The proposed circuit topology can improve its equivalent inductance range and Q-factor. The proposed active 2-port inductor was implemented by 65 nm Samsung RF CMOS technology, which demonstrates a maximum quality-factor of 600 with 3 nH inductance. The fabricated circuit occupies 200 um x 300 um chip size and has high Q-factor and inductance over wide operating frequency range as compared to the conventional active 2-port inductor circuits. In addition, the inductance variation is very small in wide operating frequency range.
CMOS 2-port Active Inductor using LC Resonance Circuit

This paper presents a novel 2-port high-Q active inductor using LC parallel resonator. The proposed 2-port high-Q active inductor consists of the feedback parallel resonance circuits that comprise of low-Q spiral inductor and capacitor. The novelty of the proposed structure can improve its Q-factor decreased by the parasitic capacitance and extend high-Q operating frequency range. For experimental validation, the 2-port active inductor was fabricated with 65 nm Samsung CMOS technology. The fabricated circuit shows inductance of above 2nH and Q-factor higher than 35 for frequency range of 3 ~ 10 GHz.
