In In this study, we compared the results of a ball bearing life prediction model based on rolling element loads with the results of fatigue life prediction of ball bearings when a stress-based contact fatigue life prediction technique is applied to the ball bearing. We calculate the load acting on each rolling element by the external load of the bearing and apply the result to the Lundberg–Palmgren (LP) theory to calculate ball bearing life based on the rolling element. We also calculate stress-based ball bearing life through contact and fatigue analyses based on contact modeling of the ball and raceway while considering the fatigue test results of AISI 52100 steel. In stress-based life prediction, we use three high-cycle fatigue-determination equations that can predict the fatigue life when multi-axis proportional loads such as rolling-slide contact conditions are applied. These equations are derived from the stress invariant and critical plane methods and the mesoscopic approach. Life expectancy results are compared with those of the LP model. Results of the analysis indicated that the fatigue life was predicted to be lower in the order of the Crossland, Dang Van, and Matake models. Of the three, the Dang Van fatigue model was found to be the closest to the LP life.
헬리컬 기어의 최적 설계 프로그램 개발 및 3차원 모델링

Recently the studies on the vibration and the noise of a helical gear transmission have been focused on the many researchers. The manufacturing error and the deformation of the tooth profile, which generates the vibration and the noise of the gear transmission, are main factors. The major purpose of this study is to develop an optimal design program for reducing the vibration and the noise of the helical gear. To obtain the these results, we restrain the helical gear from the deformation of the tooth profile and increase the contact ratio within the optimal design program. Furthermore we made the three-dimensional solid modeling of the helical gear from the AutoCAD and the Pro/Engineer. This model will be available to generate the finite element model and the NC code.<br/>

An ultimately precise surface in mechanical components can be easily produced by a magnetic abrasive polishing process. A tool in this process is unique one compared with other common machining processes. The magnetic abrasive polishing does not use a solid bulk typed tool but many small abrasives called a magnetic brush which have flexible movement from a machine body. According to the variation of brush composition such as abrasive type, grain size and mixing oil, final achievement of the magnetic abrasive polishing differs. This study shows experimental results in a magnetic abrasive polishing with different brush composition and effect of silicone gel mixing oil was examined.
Machining State Diagnosis in Grinding Using the Power Signals

A chatter vibration and a workpiece bum are the main phenomena to be monitored in modem grinding processes. This study describes a fault diagnosis of the cylindrical plunge grinding process using the power signals. The power raw signals occurred during the grinding operation were sampled and analyzed to determine the relationship between each fault and change of signals. A neural network that has a high success rate of the fault detection was used. Furthermore, an analysis on the influence of power parameters to the chatter vibration and the grinding burn was conducted.<br/>

Unbounded magnetic abrasives have been used in magnetic abrasive polishing because of low cost. However, these magnetic abrasives show machining efficiency in the negative, especially in a case of application in lower-permeability materials, since abrasives could easily break away from magnetic field according to increase of spindle speed. To solve this problem, in this study, silicone gel medium that is mixed with unbounded magnetic abrasives is applied for verifying the surface roughness improvement of paramagnet materials and preventing the chemical reaction on the working surface.
