        미국 초등학교 학생 대상 한국문화소개 수업 효과에 대한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Korean Culture Lessons (KCL) presented by Korean pre-service teachers as part of an overseas teacher training program at an American elementary school and an American university’s summer camp for children. Surveys were conducted, and the results from 163 American elementary school students and 22 pre-service teachers were examined. The data analysis showed there were statistically positive responses to KCL from American elementary school students and Korean pre-service teachers. KCI made American elementary school students understand K-culture better and become more interested than before. The satisfaction with KCL was also high among Korean pre-service teachers as well as American elementary school students. There were differences in grade levels of American elementary school students in their pre-Korean understanding, subsequent satisfaction with KCL and interest in K-culture after class. The higher the grade of elementary school students is in the USA, the more positive benefits they seem to receive in various areas from KCL. (162 words)

        이러닝 매체에 대한 초등영어교사의 인식과 선호도 조사

        본 연구는 설문조사를 통해 초등에서 영어를 가르치고 있는 교사들의 이러닝 매체에 대한 인식과 선호도를 조사하고자 했다. 교과서 CD, 영어교육용 CD, 포털 사이트, 영어교육 웹 사이트, 웹 EBS, EBS TV, 학교 홈페이지, 교사의 개인 홈페이지, 등의 8가지 유형에 대한 교사의 선호도를 비교하였다. 초등에서 영어를 가르치고 있는 교사가 자신의 영어수업을 위한 자료와 관련해 가장 선호하는 웹사이트가 무엇인지도 알아보았다. 최근 경상남도의 82개 초등학교에서 현재 영어를 가르치고 있는 164명의 교사를 무작위로 선정하여 설문조사가 이루어 졌다. 해당교사의 근무연수에 따른 응답의 차이도 조사에 포함하였다. 연구결과로서 아직까지 영어교육용 CD와 교과서 CD가 가장 수업에 활용하기 효과적인 이러닝 매체라고 조사되었다. 응답 교사들은 웹 EBS, EBS TV, 학교 홈페이지, 교사 개인 홈페이지보다는 영어교육전문 웹 사이트, 영어교육 자료가 탑재되어 있는 포털 사이트를 더 선호하였다. 교사들은 아직까지 학교 홈페이지와 교사 개인 홈페이지는 다른 영어교육관련 웹 사이트 보다 많은 점들이 개선되어야 할 것으로 응답하였다. 설문결과를 통해 초등영어교사들이 초등영어교육을 위해 현재 가장 선호하는 웹 사이트들이 무엇인지 알아보았다. 또한 그러한 웹 사이트를 선호하는 이유를 알아본 바 초등영어교사들은 교과서 진도와 맞게 자료를 올려놓은 웹 사이트와 수업활동에 바로 적용할 수 있도록 만들어진 자료를 많이 올려놓은 웹 사이트들을 선호하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

        평화봉사단의 영어교육적 함의와 사회∙교육적 영향 분석: 정부기관 공식 문서를 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the English educational implication and socio-educational influence of the Peace Corps who served in Korea in the past. Peace Corps service was separated by three different time periods in the study: From 1966 to 1981, from 1982 to 2010, and from 2011 to the present. The first period is the time period that the Peace Corps officially served in Korea. The second period is the time period that the Peace Corps who remained after 1981 personally served in Korea. In the third period, there have been two of representative services: Activities of‘Friends of Korea’in America, and partnership of Korea with America for international development assistance. The study results revealed that English education was always at the forefront of the Peace Corps service and the Language Laboratory Association which became the forerunner of KATE had a positive influence on the Peace Corps service to effectively take root in Korean English education. The difficulties of the Peace Corps service at high schools in the beginning stopped their service there and moved their service to middle schools, universities, and other areas such as science education, health and tourism.

        대학 온라인 수업 유형과 매체활용 유형별 효과 인식 연구

        This study examined undergraduate students’ perceptions of effects of online course types such as face-to-face classes, online classes, and blended classes using survey data from 331 students during three semesters from 2020 to 2021. There were differences in effects using ‘PPT video’, ‘voice only in PPT’, and ‘real-time zoom’ between theoretical courses and practice courses. In terms of media types for online classes, ‘PPT video’ was perceived as the most effective type by students, followed by ‘voice only in PPT’, ‘real-time video’, and ‘blended media use’ meaning a 2-hour-course mixed with 1-hour PPT video and 1-hour-real-time video. The effectiveness of ‘real-time video’ and ‘blended media use’ was gradually decreased as time went by. Students had difficulties in academic achievement and daily life with online learning. They were eager to return to face-to-face classes after COVID-19 passes. Some online learning media types were preferable to use for face-to-face classes after COVID-19.

        효과적인 초등학교 영어체험학습센터 프로그램 개발을 위한 요구도 조사

        This study aims to investigate the preferences and needs of elementary school students, their parents and teachers for developing English Experience Center programs in elementary schools in Korea. In order to identify these preferences and needs, a questionnaire was administered to 2,353 students, 2,854 parents and 272 teachers and supervisors at 11 elementary schools and offices of education in 5 different areas. The results show that parents and teachers preferred having regular English classes in the English Expereice Center utilizing discretionary activity hours and extracurricular classes to after-school programs during the semester. As for the ideal length of the programs, the groups preferred long-term programs to short-term programs at the center. In terms of the type of English Experience Center program; all the groups preferred situation-based programs to task-based and content-based programs. Culture-based programs were mostly preferred, but content-based programs were the least preferred by all three groups. Based on the results of the present study, suggestions for the effective English Experience center programs and English immersion programs were made at the end of the paper.

        예비교사의 교육실습이 수업 유형별 효과 인식에 끼치는 영향

        This study examined the effect of pre-service teachers’ educational practices on their perception of class types such as ‘face-to-face classes’, ‘PPT video classes’, and ‘real-time video classes’, using survey data from the same 58 university students at the beginning of the semester, immediately after teaching practice, and at the end of the first semester of 2022. Depending on the class type, there were differences within the beginning of the semester, immediately after teaching practice, and the end of the semester. The present study showed that educational practice had a positive influence on pre-service teachers' recognition of face-to-face class effects. By experiencing the educational field where face-to-face classes has been conducted in elementary schools, pre-service teachers seemed to highly recognize the effect of face-to-face classes. Based on the results, some possible effective blended teaching and considerations for the post-COVID-19 were suggested.

        초등영어교육에서의 세계시민교육 효과 연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of global citizenship education which mainly focused on ‘values, perceptions and attitudes’ at the elementary school level. This study used pre- and post self-evaluation sheets to examine the effects of global citizenship program that was applied into an elementary school English classes for 5 months. Teaching materials, including teaching plans were developed based on the current elementary school textbook. Queries of the self-evaluation sheet were designed to identify student’s global citizenship demonstrated in English classes. The self-evaluation test results were collected from 116 elementary school students in the experimental group and 120 elementary school students in the control group. The results implied that the global citizenship education could be meaningfully and successfully applied into English classes at the elementary school level. The research data showed that the global citizenship program has positively influenced students’ cognition in terms of their interests in the world peace pursuit and the measures for the relief. The data also presented that students perceived English learning as the necessity of understanding world cultures.

        The Effect of a Blended English Learning Program of CDI on Students’ Achievement

        This paper aims to examine whether m-Learning is more effective than e-Learning in developing the communicative competence of EFL learners and to investigate the possibility of a difference in effect depending on the level of students within Chungdahm Learning Institutes (CDI) throughout the country. The blended language learning programs developed by CDI were called e-Learning (Blended Learning 1.0) and m-Learning (Blended Learning 2.0). The goals of e-Learning are to enhance each student’s foundation of learning English related to the written English, and to offer practice times to write stories, essays or summary activities related to the topics dealt with in offline classes. The goals of m-Learning are to enhance each student’s foundation of learning English related to the spoken English and to offer students the opportunity to present logical opinions or summaries orally related to weekly topics dealt with in offline classes. In the study, the scores of 1,380 students who enrolled in Blended 1.0 and Blended 2.0 programs and took the pre- and post tests in various regions across Korea were used to examine the effects of the two programs on students’ achievement. On the whole, the achievement of students in m-Learning was higher than that of students in e-Learning. The students of intermediate and low levels benefited more than those of high level by m-Learning. This study gives some educational implications to program experts who develop the blended language programs and apply them into formal as well as private education.

        Online Support for Oral Presentation Skills in a Framework of Portfolio Assessment

        The goal of this study is to provide a model for implementing portfolio assessment in college English education. Since models for performance-based instruction are lacking in Korean English education, this study insists this model be easily applied at the college level where the student learning process can be more easily evaluated than secondary schools. This study provides a framework for portfolio assessment to overcome its existing weaknesses in reliability and validity with online support. The framework includes online support for students to easily access to native speaker models with the easily editable and documentable digital image processing. This paper concretely presents a model of web productions that helps students’ listening and speaking practice while implementing learner-centered and process-oriented portfolio assessment. In this study, the self- assessment and peer activity assessment helped students not only improve their ways of speaking presentation, but also build their confidence in speaking in front of others.
