One of the problems with abalone farms is that they need to be checked frequently after feeding them or visited once or twice a day and that the amount of food intake constantly fluctuates due to changes in water temperature around the farm and typhoons. In addition, the condition of abalone is not constant as it is divided into places that eat well and do not eat well according to its location. In order to solve this problem, there is a method of measuring the amount of food intake by using a load cell that can measure even the smallest weight in an abalone farm. Through this study, we implemented a system capable of measuring the amount of abalone feed required for systematic management of abalone farms and real-time monitoring using mobile and client PCs.

This study addresses the limitations of traditional fisheries resource survey methods, such as high labor costs, time consumption, and depth constraints, by proposing remote monitoring systems. It examines the battery capacity and consumption of remote unmanned fish finders to identify optimal configurations for efficient and reliable operation. Through various experiments, the study analyzes the relationship between power consumption and battery lifespan, highlighting potential improvements in efficiency. The research focuses on unmanned, buoy-based fish detection systems, which allow users to monitor fish group data around artificial reefs using wireless communication at sea. By comparing battery consumption and setting arbitrary capacities, the study provides foundational data for the future integration of solar panels as a sustainable energy solution to enhance system performance and extend operational durations, particularly in remote marine environments.

Through direct resource surveys using gill net, trap net, and long line, the main commercial fishing grounds in the Oenarodo sea area, the catch by species, population, and catch per unit effort (CPUE) of fish were identified. During the survey, a total of 20 orders, 45 families, 66 species, 374 individuals, and 107.3 kg of aquatic organisms collected from coastal waters of Oenarodo in Go-heung appeared, with a total of 16 species appearing in gill net, a total of 16 species appearing in trap net, and a total of five species appearing in long line. The dominant species were Portunus trituberculatus in gill net, Charybdis japonica in trap net, and Chelidonichthys spinosus in long line. CPUE for fishing gear, long line was the highest, and gill net and trap net showed similar values. The seasonal CPUE showed the lowest value in April and the highest value in June.

To investigate the effectiveness of cube-type artifical reef with eight inner blades a catch survey using gillnets was conducted in the Oeyeondo Boryeong-city in March, May, July, and November 2023 in divided areas. A total of 536 individuals were caught, and they are classified into 15 orders, 25 families, and 31 species. The dominant species was Raja pulchra (180 individuals, 35.7%). CPUE and species diversity index showed high values in experimental area and control area, respectively. The dominance index was different for each category. As a result of the survey, a positive effect on fish reefs was confirmed. However, the differences by region are minimal, so continuous surveys are necessary.

Laver aquaculture, which occupies a large proportion in the aquaculture industry in Korea, is still highly dependent on human labor. Therefore, it is necessary to study the development of an automatic system to improve the working environment and increase the efficiency of aquaculture production systems. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the economic feasibility of an improved system in a study for the loading-unloading and automatic weighing systems in laver aquaculture industry. Economic analysis of the developed unloading and automatic weighing system were implemented under various conditions to calculate more accurate benefits and costs. As a result of this study, the economic feasibility was found to be very high in the three models: net present value (NPV), benefit-cost ratio (B/C), internal rate of return (IRR). Moreover, the results of sensitivity analysis showed that the economical efficiency of the automatic loading, unloading, and weighing system in laver aquaculture was very high.

The fish species composition and CPUE abundance of marine resources in each area were surveyed by gill net in Oeyeondo Boryeong-city, Korea. This study was conducted in August, October, November 2021. The collected marine resources were 276 individuals of the total, identified into 15 orders, 21 families and 24 species. The total catch included 14 species in the Control group of artificial reef for marine forest plants, 10 species in the Experimental group of artificial reef for marine forest plants, and 11 species in the long line. The results of the first-year survey in the Species diversity, Dominance index appear a inconsistent trend. Further research will be needed through continuous observation and surveys.

The nuclear power plants are located in coastal areas. However, due to the inflow of marine life into the intake of nuclear power plants, there is a problem that power generation is stopped or the amount of power generation is reduced, so an investigation is needed. The purpose of this study is to identify the distribution of emerging species using echo-sounder(EK80, Norway Simrad) and to lay the foundation for problem solving. Acoustic surveys were conducted on June 17 (1st) and September 23 (2nd). In the first survey, marine life tends to be relatively concentrated on the coast than in the second survey. The discharge of seawater used as cooling water increases the average water temperature in the surrounding waters. Therefore, in June, when the water temperature is low, marine life is expected to flock to the relatively high waters around the nuclear power plant.

This study analyzed oyster harvesting time, working time, and dropout rate of oyster and coating companies to compare the performance of the sub-guzzling oyster harvesting system and the oyster harvesting system developed by Chonnam National University until recently. The oyster harvesting system in use until recently harvests oysters through manual cutting the sub-guzzling to a certain length during the harvest process. The oyster harvesting system developed by Chonnam National University harvests oysters by using an automated system through a manual process in which sub-guzzling was cut to a certain length. As a result, the harvest time of the developed oyster harvesting system was measured as 12 seconds per year, and 5 hours for working hours and 9 million won for labor costs per fish price. In addition, the dropout rate of oyster shell and coating agent was measured as 98%, which confirmed that the oyster shell and coating agent were completely separated. Therefore, compared to the current oyster harvesting system, the harvesting time and working time developed by Chonnam National University decreased compared to the previous one, and it was confirmed that oyster shell and coating agent were completely separated. It is necessary to continuously evaluate technology development for improving and commercializing oyster quality in the future.

The purpose of this study is to survey the vertical and horizontal distribution around the artificial reef set up in the Daeshi-ri area of Chuja Island to investigate the effect of the artificial reef using acoustics. The survey was conducted on March 22 (1st), May 17 (2nd), August 26 (3rd), and November 7 (4th) in the coastal sea ranch in Daeshi-ri, Chujado. According to the survey, the fish school appears relatively higher in August and November than in March and May, and more fish schools appear at night than during the day. In the horizontal distribution, it was found that the classification table of the fish school varies depending on the presence or absence of artificial fish reefs. Since sound surveys must be collected steadily using WBT, GPS, PC, transducer, etc., periodic and systematic surveys of sea ranches along the coast of Onishi-ri, Chuja Island should be conducted.

This study investigates the relationship between the bell diameter of the moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) and its target strength (TS) using acoustic survey methods. Conducted in the summer of 2024 in Yeosu coastal waters, South Korea, data were collected using an EK80 acoustic system (200 kHz). The results indicate a proportional relationship between bell diameter and TS values, providing significant insights into the acoustic scattering characteristics of marine organisms. This research contributes to marine resource management and the development of advanced acoustic survey techniques.
