. This study uses 2D robot simulation datasets to conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis between traditional nonlinear filtering methods and physics-based neural network models, specifically physics-informed neural networks, Hamiltonian neural networks, and Lagrangian neural networks. The primary focus is on assessing the performance of these models in accurately estimating the position and velocity of a simulated robot moving along predefined and random trajectories. The diversified dataset includes circular, elliptical, and sinusoidal pathways to evaluate the models’ learning and generalization abilities. The findings highlight the superior capabilities of physics-based neural networks in capturing the dynamics of physical systems, particularly under complex physical conditions and uncertainties. The study shows the potential benefits of these models over traditional nonlinear filtering methods, taking a big step toward their use in real-world applications.
Isolation of Lactobacillus Strains from Shellfish for their Potential Use as Probiotics

Microorganisms intended for use as probiotics in aquaculture should exert antimicrobial activity and be regarded as safe not only for their aquatic hosts but also for their surrounding environments and humans. The objective of this work was to investigate antimicrobial activity against various pathogens, bile salt tolerance, and acid tolerance of 65 presumptive Lactobacillus spp. isolated from shellfish samples. Four strains (HL1, HL12, HL20, and JL28) were selected after qualitatively identifying high levels of antimicrobial activity against bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteritidis, Escherichia coli O157:H7, Vibrio ichthyoenteri, Edwardsiella tarda, Streptococcus iniae, and V. parahaemolyticus. The sequence analysis of their 16S rRNA genes revealed that the four strains belong to the Lactobacillus plantarum species. In addition, their survivability was tested in bile salt and acidic conditions to show their potential use as probiotics in the gastrointestinal tract.

The occurrence of dental caries is mainly associatedwith oral pathogens, especially cariogenic Streptococcusmutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis. The objective of thisstudy was to investigate antimicrobial activity against cariogenicassociated pathogens, acid tolerance, bile salt tolerance,and autoaggregation of 12 presumptive Lactobacillus spp. isolated from human and fermented foods. Five strains wereselected after qualitatively identifying high levels of antimicrobialactivity against bacteria including S. mutans. Resultsshow that selected strains survivability was tested in bile saltand acidic conditions to show their potential use as probioticsin the gastrointestinal tract. Indirect adhesion activity of selectedstrains measured by autoaggregation assay showed morethan 60% autoaggregation after 5 h standing. Further studiesare underway to demonstrate that the selected strains can beapplied as potential probiotics for recovering oral ecosystem.
소프트웨어 기반 GPS 수신기의 신호 획득 알고리즘 성능 분석

In Software-Defined GPS Receiver (SDR), GPS signal acquisition is a significant algorithm to identify the visible satellites. It also finds the code phase and Doppler frequency. After acquisition, the acquired code phase and Doppler frequency are transferred to a tracking loop as initial values to demodulate the navigation data. Acquisition time and detectable signal strength are depending on the performance of acquisition algorithm. In this paper, traditional GPS signal acquisition algorithms are analyzed and compared with the proposed GPS signal acquisition algorithm based on the combination of both coherent and noncoherent approaches. The proposed algorithm is verified by simulations. The results show that the proposed GPS signal acquisition algorithm gives about two times faster acquisition time than the conventional algorithm. In addition, the improved algorithm is more effective in the acquisition of weak signals.

Bifidobacteria are a prototype probiotic, which normally inhabit the intestinal tract of humans. In the present study, four species of Bifidobacterium isolated from the feces of infants were characterized. The tolerance for acid or bile salt, autoaggregation, and antibiotic resistance of the bacteria were examined. The four species were resistant to low pH, bile salts, and up to 3% bile acid. Autoaggregation rates were as high as 90%. The bacteria were consistently resistant to gentamicin, kanamycin, streptomycin, ciprofloxacin, and nalidixic acid. Due to their tolerance to environmental factors like acid and bile salts, B. longum MG723, B. breve MG729, B. bifidum MG731, and B. animalis subsp. lactis MG741 are potentially valuable as probiotics and may be useful for industrial application.

To evaluate the relationship between depth of anesthesia and plasma catecholamine concentration, the authors measured blood pressure(systolic, diastolic, mean), heart rate and plasma concentration of epinephrine and norepinephrine at varying condition of no anesthesia, under anesthesia and after stimulation. The subjects were 30 ASA class 1 surgical patients, aged from 20 to 40 years. Patients were given thiopental(4 mg/kg) and vecuronium(0.1 mg/kg) for induction and intubation. After 5 minutes controlled respiration with 100% oxygen, baseline measurements were taken. Measurements after 20 minutes maintenance with 1.7 vol % enflurane by end tidal concentration and measurement after skin incision were taken. Systolic pressure were 143.5±16.7, 107.6±15.0, 130.4±13,1lmmHg), and heart rate 115. 5±15.2, 85.1 ±l5.3, 104.5±12.7(beat/min), plasma epinephrine concentration 93.6±48.4, 78.2±33.2, 77.0±23.5(ng/L), plasma norepinephrine concentration 451.6±154.7, 410±139.0, 376.7±104.3(ng/L), respectively. Sysolic and mean blood pressure showed significant change(p$lt;0.05) but heart rate and plasma concentration of epinephrine and norepinephrine showed no significant changes.
