The effect of port injected small fuel droplets which were generated by a 2-phase Injector (Air-Assisted Fuel Injector. AAFI) was evaluated for several different conditions of engine operation. The experimental results were compared with those of conventional MPI (Multi-Point Injector). When the deflector was not used. AAFI produced fuel droplets on the order of 20.0 μm Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD). With deflector which restricts the initial spray angle to 60° , SMD of AAFI was 32.8 μm and the fuel spray injected from MPI showed 132.6 μm SMD. AAFI reduced HC emission especially during cold condition in comparison to MPI at ECU (Electronic Control Unit) controlled fuel injection timing. AAFI also represented consistency of HC emission over various fuel injection timing, including intake-valve open period. AAFI is considered to be very advantageous for transient condition.<br/>

Demethyl ether (DME) is one of the most attractive attremative fuels for compression ignition engine. Its main advantage in diesel engine application is high efficiency of diesel cycle with soot free combustion though conventional fuel injection system has 10 be modified due 10 the intrinsic properties of DME. Experimental study of DME and conventional diesel spray employing a conventional fuel injection system with a yea (Valve Covered Orifice) injector was performed al atmospheric conditions. A CCD camera was employed 10 capture time series of spray images followed by spray angles and penetrations of DME were characterised and compared \\ith those of diesel. Increasing rate of the DME injection pressure was lower than that of diesel and residual pressure was higher due 10 high compressibility of DME. Spray angles of DME were generally wider than those of diesel while spray tip penetrations were shorter due 10 higher vapour pressure and faster momentum loss.

Visualized Engine is constructed to observe DISC(Direct Injection Stratified Charge). processes in the GDI(Gasoline Direct Injection) engine cylinder. This Engine is built by modification of the conventional 4-stroke PFI(Port Fuel Injection) engine and its all parts of cylinder liner is visualized. Because vibrational characteristics are not bad operations over 2000rpm speed is ossible. Using this visualized engine, GDI fuel injection processes and flame propagation can be observed by photographic technique. This engine possibly will be used for qualification of DISC combustion mechanism.<br/>
