        2014 수능 수준별 영어 시험의 검사지 구성을 위한 외국어 영역 문항 유형에 대한 내외적 타당성 분석

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the validation on item-types of Foreign (English) Language Domain of the current 2005 CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) for developing the two level-differentiated English tests of the 2014 CSAT. To this end, this study sets the testing criteria and the scoring procedures for evaluating and analyzing the item-types of the Foreign (English) Language Domain on the basis of the 5 principles of item-selection and the 4 criteria of test-construction (Kim, 2010). Following this criteria and procedures, it selected 50 test-evaluator and made them evaluate and analyze 13 item-types of the listening test and 19 item-types of the reading test of the CSAT. On the basis of the results of the evaluation and the analysis, it constructs an item-types bank for designing and developing the two level-differentiated tests (A and B types) of 2014 CSAT.

        한국에 근무하는 영어 원어민 교사에 대한 국내 영어교사의 인식에 관한 연구

        세계화의 변화에 유연하게 대처하기 위한 교육적 노력의 일환으로 공교육에서의 원어민 교사 수업의 활용이 높아지고 있다. 질 높은 의사소통 능력의 향상이 원어민 수업으로 가능한지 알아보고자 이 논문에서는 영어교육에서의 원어민영어교사 활용 종합 실태 분석을 실시하였다. 이 논문의 분석 연구에서 한국인 협력교사들의 원어민 교사에 대한 인식은 영어 원어민 교사의 투입이 반드시 필요한 것인지에 대한 인식을 알아보고자 한다 The study is conducted as basic research to verify professional expertise and abilities of native English teachers who are teaching in Korea in objective and scientific ways. It aims to introduce a qualification certificate system which seeks to measure qualification by abilities, and to boost professionalism and morale, and finally, contributes to reinforcement of public English education in Korea. Therefore, this basic study is on the ‘Practical use of native English teachers and general analysis.’ The study seeks to evaluate the management system of English native teachers and find ways to improve it. Also, it is expected that this research would practically contribute to the development of Korean English education.

        영어의 서법 조동사 Will/Shall에 관한 연구

          The purpose of this paper is to explain the meanings and uses of the English auxiliaries SHALL/WILL. The complexity of modern usage of SHALL/WILL has been one of the most disputable themes of traditional English grammar. The paper purported to address the study and analysis of diachronic and synchronic approach to the two auxiliaries. A general view of the figures of Fries’(1925) survey was added for further investigation. The results of the study showed that these auxiliaries express some of various modal meanings associated with the volitional or emotional attitude of the speaker without implying futurity. The findings also suggested that the use of SHALL in present-day English is restricted to non-volitional future with the first person but the practice of this use is also diminished by the expansion of the use of WILL, and the original meaning of WILL, ‘to desire or wish’, has generally been replaced by other verbs or modal forms. But sentences which seem to indicate futurity are often tinged with modalsenses. Therefore, WILL/SHALL should be considered to act either as tense auxiliary or as modal auxiliary depending on situational contexts in which it occurs.

        영어교육의 교수방법 지식지도 서비스를 위한 온톨로지 모델링 연구

        한국에서 영어교육의 필요성이 나날이 증가함에도 영어교육의 교수방법에 대한 다양한 시각과 정부의 일관성이 결여된 영어교육 정책으로 인해 영어 의사소통 능력의 제고에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구는 지식정보화사회에 발맞춰 영어교육 방법의 지식지도 구축을 위한 온톨로지 모델링을 연구하여 다양한 영어교육 현장과 국가의 영어교육정책 수립에 기여하고자 한다. Even if the need for English education in Korea is on the rise, too various perspectives on English education and the governments lack of consistency in the English education policy are said to be a negative factor in improving the English communication skills. The purpose of this study, in line with the knowledge and information society, is to develop ontology modeling for knowledge map of English education methodology and to make a contribution to English education policy of the country.

        Developing a Guidebook for Teaching English in English

        Since the English education of South Korea nowadays raised the issue of Teaching English in English (TEE) back in 2008, there has been widespread reaction from in and out of the educational community. Critics argue that the current population of Korean English teachers is either unwilling or unable to carry out such a measure. Proponents say that teacher and student “discomfort” with English and the overall difficulty of the suggested plan are not reasons to dismiss or delay reform on such an important issue. Regardless of the debate, it seems clear that South Korean students, parents, businesses, and government leaders are all looking to improve the acquisition of English language skills in a country whose economic survival is tied so closely to Western culture and consumer trends. It is even more of a priority in light of documented deficiencies in speaking and listening skills as evidenced on South Korean TOEFL scores over the past few years. A thorough study of what TEE could actually bring to the Korean classroom seems necessary to clear up misconceptions and bring to a close the endless debates that only waste time, resources, and educational opportunity for the current and future generations of students.         영어 시제의 효율적인 교수ㆍ학습 전략

          Although the understanding of English tense system is a crucial factor for communicative English learning and teaching for EFL students, it has been neglected over the years. As with other areas of the grammar, difficulties may arise from the nature of the system itself or from differences between time, tense and aspect. Consequently, many learners face a considerable difficulty with the English tense system as they are more often unable to grasp the basic conceptual differences of present/present continuous, past/present perfect, will/be going to along with many others. More concerning fact is that lots of instructors or so-called native English teachers seem not to be aware of the importance of teaching English tense system. The purpose of this study is to review and examine various theories and practical usages of tense in order to establish and/or present better methods for teaching tenses. This paper is focused on comparatively exact distinction of time, physical notion from tense, grammatical category as well as sequences of tenses in view of school grammar and communicative function. At the end or middle of each chapter, efficient teaching and learning techniques or strategies on tenses are suggested to help instructors or learners who relentlessly face confusions in understanding tense and its usage for communicative English learning and teaching. This study attempts to influence learners’ ability to recognize and write tense in authentic contexts not to mention spoken English.

        한국 전래동화 학습 사이트를 활용한 영어 지도 방안

        The purpose of this paper is to suggest a model for an English learning web-site using Korean folktales to stimulate the interest of beginners learning English, (elementary and early middle school ages) and suggest an integrated way of teaching 4 skills. The study first reviews the theoretical and historical backgrounds of storytelling using Korean folk tale, WBI (Web Based Learning), and learner-centered learning. Storytelling using Korean folk tale is an interactive way of teaching English through the use of words and actions from Korean traditional culture. The students can take pride in their own culture while learning a foreign language since they are familiar with the stories and the culture. Nowadays multicultural education is one of the big features of global education. Therefore there are benefits of studying English through Korean folktales. The websites can help students learn English ubiquitously with a learner-centered focus. For the study, we analyzed several digital English storytelling websites. The paper concludes that digital English story books need to improve their interactive ways of teaching for more effective learning. The quthors created an integrated English learning website model using Korean folktales for beginners. We hope to introduce this type of learning through the website for higher level students in middle school. Further study should be conducted in order to make the websites more meaningful and useful for Korean students learning English.

        스마트러닝 영어교육 프로그램 참여만족이 영어교육 신뢰, 영어교육 몰입 및 재수강의도에 미치는 영향

        This article is to find out the impact of participation satisfaction in smart learning English education program on English education program reliability, English education immersion and course-retaking intention. The study subjects are 201 high school students or higher level students who have applied for the programs which S communication corporation and C institute of English language have developed in collaboration. Referred to the surveyed materials frequency analysis and exploratory factor analysis was made by SPSSWIN Ver.17.0, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modelling analysis and their hypotheses by AMOS 17.0. The findings are as follows: First, participation satisfaction had a positive influence on English education program reliability. Second, participation satisfaction had an affirmative effect on English education program immersion. Third, participation satisfaction did not affect course-retaking intention. Fourth, English education program reliability was closely related with English education program immersion. Fifth, English education program reliability did not influence course-retaking intention. Finally, English education program immersion had a strong impact on course-retaking intention. (Kongju National University, Mokwon University)

        영어 통사, 문법, 습득 논문 조사연구

        The purpose of the present study was to research articles on English syntax, English grammar and language acquisition that have been published in English Language & Literature Teaching for 20 years. In recent years, language professions and researchers have maintained that grammatical competence cannot be easily acquired unconsciously in an EFL environment such as in Korea, and that it can be acquired and developed through focus on form (Doughty & Williams, 1998) by focusing on meaning and communication (Doughty, 1991; Doughty & Williams, 1998; Robinson, 1996, 2001; Skehan, 1998). In this view, this study analyzes the research papers that suggest effective learning and teaching of syntactic rules and grammatical forms in EFL classrooms by classifying into three criteria such as subject of study, theme and method of study. Finally it proposed a desirable direction toward English syntax and grammar learning and teaching in Korea.

        팝송 훈밍글리쉬를 활용한 특성화고 영어수업모형 연구

        The purpose of this study is to develop English teaching models by using English pop songs to enhance the vocational high school students` motivation and scholastic achievement of English higher than using the other non-musical, traditional teaching methods and materials. This study is based on my own experiences and teaching career of English pop songs. Many scientific tests show that when you sing a song, the learning is more fun and longer-lasting. In order to confirm pop song effects on English learning, this study was designed to use two pairs of national English tests. According to the results, using English pop songs was more motivational and more effective. In addition, it shows that listening and singing pop songs through ‘Hunminglish (Hunminjungeum + English)’ can build the self-confidence of vocational students who gave up learning English and help them enjoy self-directed listening and singing practice every day and everywhere.
