확장된 코어를 갖는 광결정 도파로의 미세구조 설계와 컴퓨터 분석

Current optical waveguides work as one of the widest bandwidth media for information data transmission links, and also crucially operate as light-signal processing components in lightwave communication systems. Photonic crystal waveguides (PCWs) from very new advanced technology have been considered in order to provide several unique features due to different waveguidance mechanism of the PCWs, including endlessly single-mode remarkable operation bandwidth and the potential to localize part of the guided mode in air regions, because artificial photonic crystals can be formed by modulating the relative refractive permittivity of a material with an appropriately-designed repeating pattern in space, thereby enabling a photonic band-gap (PBG) effect. In this research, newly proposed enlarged core PCWs have been first designed and investigated without and with a central air hole in order to achieve large effective mode areas by utilizing the PBG effect and therefore mitigate signal distortion and degradation sequels. Based on accurate and reliable computational analysis techniques, the enlarged core PCW with the central air-hole radius of 1.5 μm and seven layers of air holes from the 3rd to the 9th exhibits desirable performance results with the large effective area of 73.01 μm2 for the fundamental mode at the operating wavelength of 1.55 μm, providing additive advantages in terms of simple fabrication materials and coupling or convergence aspect with the conventional optical waveguides.

In recent years, the unprecedented success of information technology leads a tremendous growth in demand for the Internet access in the 21st century. Closely akin to the atomic potential acting on electrons as one special related research, since a photonic crystal possesses a forbidden frequency band, called a photonic band-gap, in which propagation of electromagnetic waves is prohibited, the light-reflection principle in the photonic crystal structure medium can produce many of the analogous optical phenomena. Thereby, electromagnetic waves are effectively controlled either to propagate through the light-wave communication medium or not, depending on operating wavelengths. In this research, a hollow air-core photonic crystal waveguide (HAPCW) for the effective mode area enlargement of electromagnetic characteristics has been first designed and explored by including a central air hole. The HAPCW design structure showing superior results provides effective areas of 198.76 μm2 and 200.24 μm2 at the operating wavelengths of 1.3 μm and 1.55 μm, respectively, for the fundamental mode, which are enlarged by 44.16 μm2 and 44.38 μm2, compared with the regular cylindrical photonic crystal waveguide. Findings in this investigation are expected to be capable of providing materials for communication performance improvement in the light information transmission by reducing serious signal distortion, due to the effective mode area enlargement. 최근에 정보통신기술의 전례 없는 성공은 21세기에 인터넷 접속에 대한 폭발적인 수요 증가를 선도하고 있다. 관련하여 전자들에 작용하는 원자 포텐셜에 유사하게, 광결정은 전자기파의 전파가 금지되는 주파수 영역을 포함하기 때문에, 광결정 구조에서 빛반사 원리는 많은 유리한 광학적 현상을 유도할 수 있다. 그럼으로써 작동하는 파장에 따라, 전자기파가 광결정 구조를 통하여 전파될지 안될지를 효과적으로 제어할 수 있게 된다. 더하여 중심에 공기홀을 추가하여 설계함으로써, 본 연구에서와 같이 공기홀 광결정 도파로가 넓은 실효 면적을 갖는 전파 특성을 나타낼 수 있는 방안을 모색한다. 본 연구에서 설계된 우수한 전파 성능을 보이는 원통형 공기홀 광결정 도파로에 대하여 산출된 실효 면적은 동작 파장 λ = 1.3 μm일 때 198.76 μm2이고, λ = 1.55 μm일 때는 200.24 μm2로서 일반적인 형태의 광결정 도파로보다도 각각 약 44.16 μm2과 44.38 μm2만큼 확대된 결과를 보인다. 여기서의 연구 결과들은 광신호 정보 통신 성능 향상을 위한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

This experimental research examined the comparative effects of Buddhist meditation techniques of Korean Buddhism on physiological indicators(EEG) for middle-aged women. Using a pretest posttest nonequivalent group design, 19 participants were randomly assigned to one of the four groups(108-prostration, reciting sutra, focused breathing, and Consciousness-Only based mindfulness). EEG data was recorded 5-minute before and 5-minute after the treatment for three data collection sessions. Measurements were conducted by using a computerized polygraph. Results showed that there was significant change in EEG with all the four meditation techniques after the treatment compared to before. The bands and regions in EEG changed significantly, with different topography from each of the four meditation techniques. These results indicate that the modernized population with various characteristics in spirituality and intellect as well as psychology can be benefited from each of the different effects researched when they do Buddhist meditation for their spiritual enhancement(e.g., transformation of consciousness into wisdom) and/or secular issues (e.g., alleviation of psychological distress and pain). These suggest further researches to scientific experimental studies to boost into development of tailored meditation programs for the ordinary population in modern society to ultimately transform their afflictive minds to wisdom and be free from suffering(苦).
Fuzzy r-Compactness on Fuzzy r-Minimal Spaces

In [8], we introduced the concept of fuzzy r-minimal structure which is an extension of smooth fuzzy topological spaces and fuzzy topological spaces in Chang's sense. And we also introduced and studied the fuzzy r-M continuity. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of fuzzy r-minimal compactness on fuzzy r-minimal compactness and nearly fuzzy r-minimal compactness, almost fuzzy r-minimal spaces and investigate the relationships between fuzzy r-M continuous mappings and such types of fuzzy r-minimal compactness.
