The effect of water extract of antler on serum level of female hormones was investigated in ovariectemized rats. Sprague-Dawley rats were ovariectomized(ox). After a further 40 days the animals were administrated with water extract of antler (625mg/kg daily) for 10, 20 and 30 days, respectively. Serum level of estradiol, progesterone, leutenizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone were measured. Significant increase of serum estradiol level was elicited at 20 and 30 days after treatment with water extract of antler, respectively, Associated with the increase of serum estradiol level, there was a concomitant decrease in serum follicle stimulating hormone level. Serum progesterone level was also significantly increased at 30 days after treatment with water extract of antler. Although serum leutenizing hormone level of ox rats treated with water extract of anther was slightly lower than that of untreated ox rats, the decrease was not significant.
Chloroform의 毒性에 미치는 Vitamin E 의 影響에 관한 硏究

The present studies were done to evaluate the effect of chloroform and vitamin E on the changes of hepatic total lipid, hepatic lipid peroxidation. renal lipid peroxidation, and cardiac lipid peroxidation in male rat. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; Hepatic lipid peroxidation was significantly increased by chloroform administration, but, after concomitant administration of vitamin E and chloroform, hepatic lipid pero-xidation was significantly decreased in comparison to that of chloroform alone administ-ration. Hepatic lipid peroxidation and cardiac lipid peroxidation were significantly increased by chloroform administration(2ml/kg, s. c.) in phenobarbital pretreated male rat(1ml/kg, I.P.. consecutive 4 days) in comparison to that of phenobarbital treated male rat. After concomitant administration of vitamin E and chloroforn in the phenobarbital pretreated rat, hepatic and cardiac lipid peroxidation were significa-ntly decreased in comparison to that of chloroform administration following by pheno-barbital pretreatment. Phenobarbital increased hepatic and cardiac lipid peroxidation but not renal lipid peroxidation. Chloroform-induced lipid peroxidation was significan-tly increased by feeding male rat at room temperature of 26℃ than that of 20℃.Hepatic total lipid tend to increase by chloroform administration in phenobarbital pretreated rat in comparison to normal rat. In phenobarbital pretreated rat, hepatictotal lipid tend to decrease by concomitant administration of vitamin E and chloroform in comparison to chloroform alone administration.
