Generally, SiO₂ were disliked in natural water suspension solutions and various methods of its exclusion have been investigated in industrial fields. In colloid science, SiO₂ of the nascent state in water solution is well known as a hydrophilic inorganic sol, and also has negative charge in weak acid, neutral solution and alkali solution. Clay and arsenic trisulfide particles in water solution have the properties of negative charge and hydrophobic sol. In the above cases, the suspension expects to appear phenomena of the sensitization with mutual action according to control the concentration of hydrophilic sol on hydrophobic sol in the disperse system. In this experiment, it was investigated that the effect of coagulation by this sensitization of As₂S₃ and clay with SiO₂ were calculated by using C_0^(60) radioactive isotope method, and moreover, in its coagulation state observed by electromicroscope. The coagulation effects of the sensitization of SiO₂ sol against clay suspension were much weaker than the electrolytes in industrial water or natural water comparing the action of coagulation of electrolyte (Al₂(SO₄)₃) with non-electrolyte (SiO₂), and the effect of coagulation by SiO₂ concluded in this research to be caused by only van der Waals' forces and not Coulomb's forces.
Citing Behavior of Korean Scientists on Foreign Journals in KSCD
김병규,강무영,최선희,김순영,류범종,신재도 한국정보관리학회 2011 정보관리학회지 Vol.28 No.2
There have been little comprehensive research for studying impact of foreign journals on Korean scientists. The main reason for this is because there was no extensive citation index database of domestic journals for analysis. Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) built the Korea Science Citation Database (KSCD), and have provided Korea Science Citation Index (KSCI) and Korea Journal Citation Reports (KJCR) services. In this article, citing behavior of Korean scientists on foreign journals was examined by using KSCD that covers Korean core journals. This research covers (1) analysis of foreign document types cited, (2) analysis of citation counts of foreign journals by subject and the ratio of citing different disciplines, (3) analysis of language and country of foreign documents cited, (4) analysis of publishers of journals and whether or not journals are listed on global citation index services and (5) analysis for current situation of subscribing to foreign electronic journals in Korea. The results of this research would be useful for establishing strategies for licensing foreign electronic journals and for information services. From this research, immediacy citation rate (average 1.46%), peak-time (average 3.9 years) and half-life (average 8 years) of cited foreign journals were identified. It was also found that Korean scientistis tend to cite journals covered in SCI(E) or SCOPUS, and 90% of cited foreign journals have been licensed by institutions in Korea.
Polymer-Stabilized Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Using Polyurethane Acrylate
김병규,김은희,우주연 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.2
Polymer- stabilized cholesteric liquid crystals (PSCLCs) have been designed and fabricated with various polymers (polyurethane acrylate contents and polymer functionalities), which were con- trolled by using the oligomer molecular weight and the reactive diluent content. It was possible to control the reflectivity by changing these variables, giving a maximum reflection efficiency (488nm) of over 50 % with PPG 500 at 90 % LC without an alignment layer. It was possible to fabricate PSCLCs having a reflectivity and a pitch that virtually did not change as polymer was added, regardless of the polymer content. The morphology and the color purity were visualized by using scanning electron microscopy and polarized optical microscopy image, respectively.
