CuCl₂/SnCl₄를 이용한 Thiophene의 중합

Polymerization reactions were carried out at 80℃ for 10 hours with various molar ratios of CuCl₂to SnCl₄. The yield of conversion in the polymerization increased as the concentration of SnCl₄increases. A maximum of 5.8wt-% in the yield of conversion was obtained when polymerization was done with a molar ratio of ½of CuCl₂to SnCl₄. The polymeric structure of the polythiophene was deduced by analyzing and assigning the structure of oligomers formed in the reactions. Analyses show that the polythiophene contains a Cu ion per 3.6-4.3 of the thiophene ring.
