The earthquakes of the Korean Peninsula, including the Hongseong Earthquake with the seismic intensity V which was arised at 7th October, 1978, are inferred to be originated as follows; much strains accumulated by the vertical and/or horizontal movements of both plates of the China from west and the Pacific Ocean from east and by the sinking pressure of the Yellow Sea Exogeosyncline are activated along the fault zones of the area so that they occur. But the peninsula area can be ultimately called the para-stability zone. All of the faults of the peninsula are rather charged with the cause of the destruction of constructional basement. Accordingly, the geologic survey of the basement rock is indispensable to construct the big buildings. One late Cretaceous volcano was found at 3rd November, 1978. It is the Geumseong Mt. located by the Tabri station in Euiseong-eub, Gyeongsangbug-do, which is surrounded by the ring faults formed contemporaneously with the volcano. At the southwestern slope of the mountain many volcanic bombs are also discovered.

The seongryu Cavern is seated in the Jang-gun Limestone Formation of which age is inferred to be of the Proterozoic Era in this paper also. No conodonts fossil was found from the limestone formation. The cavern has been formed along a fault zone with the strike of N65˚E, which is inferred to have had been formed at the Daebo orogeny in the end of Jurassic Period. It is inferred that the inception of the cavern ranges possibly from the Early Tertiary Period to the Pleistocene Epoch. From the latter age to the recent, the cave formation is thought to have have been most active. The black films on all speleothems in the limestone cavern are revealed to be originated not by the mineralogical reaction but by the the action of micro-organisms as mould and bacteria, by the experiments of the colorimetric, qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses, X-ray diffractive analyses and combustion.

District of Mts. Seol-ak and Keumgang, Korea, has been controlled under the mountain-glacial and the periglacial environments during the glacial ages in the Pleistocene Epoch. A lot of evidences of former glaciation are sampled in the area of Mt.Seol-ak. Those are U-valley, cirque, arete, horns, and the moraine sediments, which are assessed glaciogeologically. The In-Soo Peak in Mt.Bukhan, Seoul, shows striations on a horn structure. The interdisciplinary prospecting is recommended to found invincibly the glacial and periglacial theory of Mts. Seol-ak and Keumgang, Korea. An interdisciplinary research model is proposed to provide the basis for development of the tourist industry from the geological sightseeing resources of Mts. Seol-ak and Keumgang. The mountains are the core of the Land of Beautiful Scenery, Korea.
