        Some Consideration on Structure of Carbon fibers during Hot Stretching

        A polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber tow was heat-treated by directly passing electric current through the tow. The effects of the stretching stress applied during high temperature heat-treatment of PAN-based carbon fibers were investigated by measuring the electric resistance changes taking place during the internal resistance heating. The structure parameters characterizing the stacks of carbon layer, such as interlayer spacing, sizes and orientation of the carbon fibers heat-treated with hot-stretching were evaluated as a function of surface temperature of tow during heat treatment in the range of $1000~2400^{\circ}C$. Though the layer extent in the fiber axis direction depends strongly on the electric resistance, the changes in a crystallite parameter is independent of the longitudinal strain.

      • 후두미세수술을 시행한 후두질환의 임상통계적 고찰

        The microsurgery in the treatment and diagnosis of laryngeal diseases had been performed by using of Lynch's suspension laryngoscope. The introduction of endolaryngeal microsurgery by Kleinsasser in 1965 made more useful approach for laryngeal surgery and diagnosis with self retaining laryngoscope. The microsurgical technique has advanced and gained widespread acceptance. A clinico-statistical analysis was performed on 110 cases of suspension laryngoscopic microsurgery in Dept. of E.N.T. Chonbuk National Medical School from Oct. 1979 to May 1984. The results were as follows ; 1) Sex distribution was male 1.34 : female 1. 2) Age distribution showed 38 cases(34.5%) in 4th decade, 25 cases(22.7%) in 3rd decade, 18cases(16.5%) in 5th decade, 14 cases(12.7%) in 2nd decade and 6 cases(5.5%) in 6th decade in order. 3) Chief complaints were hoarseness 105 cases(95.5%), throat discomfort 21 cases(19.0%), dyspnea 11 cases(10.0%) and foreign body sensation 8 cases(7.3%) in order. 4) Distribution of disease in order of frequency were vocal polyp 61 cases(55.5%), vocal nodule 16 cases(14.6%), epithelial hyperplasia 14 cases(12.7%), Rienke's edema 13 cases(11.8%), papilloma 7 cases(6.4%), squamous cell carcinoma 5 cases(4.6%), and sulcus vocalis 4 cases(3.6%) in order. 5) Duration of chief complaints were 51 cases(46.3%) below 6 months, 31 cases(28.2%) from 6 months to 1 year, 24 cases(21.9%) from 1 year to 5 years, 4 cases(3.6%) over 5 years. 6) The involved sites were 48 cases(38.4%) on the right cord, 37 cases(29.6%) on the left cord, 36 cases(28.85) on both cord, 2 cases(1.6%) on whole larynxand each 1 case on anterior commisure and extralarynx. 7) Maximum phonation time was measured before and after operation in 63 cases and prolonged in 59 cases(93.6%). 8) Phonation quotient was measured before and after operation in 43 cases diminished in all cases except 1 case which was equal.

      • 고구마의 Callus와 Plant Regeneration에 미치는 培地의 添加物, 特히 Ethylmethanesulphonate(EMS)의 影響

        1.고구마(cv. 千美) 葉柄(petiole) callus로 부터의 植物體(callus 고구마)가 再生되었다. 再生培地의 알맞은 Hormone添加는 0.1㎎/ℓNAA, 1㎎/ℓ BA의 組合이었다. 2. Petiole callus와 EMS 0.1% 4h處理는 callus는 peroxidase isozyme band pattern에 있어서 共有 band 外에 A1∼4, B1∼3의 새로운 2個의 zone이 生成되었다. plant regeneration petiole은 처음 callus와 같았으나 outer pot에서 生長된 고구마 petiole가 됨에 따라 Initiate petiole로 復元되었다. 3.Esterase isozyme band 數는 4個로(Est1∼4) peroxidase보다 적었다. Callus 고구마의 petiole esterase isozyme은 成長함에 따라 Initial petiole으로 復元되었으며 EMS處理 callus는 Est4의 活性度가 强한 isozyme variation을 出現시켰다. 4.Protein band는 各 column이 14.2Kd以下의 3個의 共有 band를 가졌으나 모두 다른 band variation을 보였다. 따라서 callus 고구마의 mutation이나 EMS를 直接 處理한 callus의 mutation 效果가 期待된다. Callus derived sweet potato (cv. Chunmi) was developed with some different variation. Subculture calli in vitro and plant regenerated from petiole callus has various new band pattern and intensity of peroxidase, esterase and protein by the means of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. According to development of regenerated plant peroxidase isozyme were restored to the control plant isozyme patterns, but new bands of esterase and protein were preserved as it is generally. Effects of ethylmethanesulphonate(EMS) 0.1% 4h to the callus formed from petiole were taken place as new deep band patterns of peroxidase and esterase. The other hand protein band of EMS treated or nontreated control callus has three low molecular weight under ca. 14.2Kd common bands respectively, more over EMS nontreated callus has ca. 24, 44Kd and treated callus after 28days has ca. 24Kd new band except above three common bands.

        수술을 시행한 뇌동맥류 환자의 임상분석

        The author reviewed 294 cases of surgically treated cerebral aneurysms during the period from January, 1987 to December, 1992. The results were as follow : 1) The sex ratio between male and female was 1 : 1.53 and the mean age was 51.3 year. 2) At admission. 220 patients were in relatively good neurologic condition and functional recovery was obtained in 229 patients (78%) 3) The most common site was anterior communicating artery and the number of posterior circulation aneurysms was 12 (4%) 4) The incidence of multiple ancurysms was 4% and clinical vasospasm was observed in 19% of the patients. 5) Operative morality was 8.8% and the prognostic factors were related with age. sex, history of hypertension, amount of SAH, size and site of aneurysm, preperative neurologic state, clinical vasospasm, and timing ofoperation.

        뇌종양에서 돌연변이형 p53단백 및 PCNA의 발현현상

        Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded samples of 32 brain tumors(8 meningiomas, 10 astrocytomas(low grade 5, anaplastic 5), 8 glioblastoma multiforme, 6 oligodendrogliomas(low grade 2, anaplastic 3) were investigated by immunocytochemistry with monoclonal antibodies against p53 protein and proliferating cell unclear antigen(PCNA). Expression of p53 protein was detected in 1 of 5 cases(20%) of low grade astrocytomas, 2 of 5 cases(40%) of anaplastic astrocytoma, 4 of 8 cases(50%) of glioblastoma multiforme and 4 of 4 cases(100%) of malignant oligodendroglioma. All low grade oligodendrogliomas, meningiomas fail to express p53. Expression of PCNA was detected in 3 of 8 cases of meningioma with very low labelling index(0-0.3), 2 of 5 cases of low grade astrocytoma with low labelling index(0-11.3), 3 of 5 cases of anaplastic astrocytoma with middle labelling index(0-28.2), 6 of 8 cases of glioblastoma multiforme and 4 of 4 cases of malignant oligodendroglioma with high labelling index(0-92.3, 7.6-48.1). Expression of PCNA was not detected in low grade oligodendrogliomas. Tumor group with high expression of p53 protein showed increment of PCNA expression. A strong positive correlation between tumor grade and extent of p53 protein and PCNA expression was found(p<0.002).

        황금약침액(黃芩藥鍼液)이 가토(家兎) 신피질절편(腎皮質切片)에서 수은(水銀)에 의한 세포막(細胞膜) 물질이동(物質移動) 기능장애(機能障碍)에 미치는 영향(影響)

        This study was undertaken to determine whether Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi (SbG) extract exerts the protective effect against $HgCl_2$-induced alterations in membrane transport function in rabbit renal cortical slices. The slices were treated with 0.1 mM $HgCl_2$ for 60 min at $37^{\circ}C$. $HgCl_2$ caused an inhibition in PAH uptake by renal cortical slices. Such an effect was accompanied by depressed $Na^+-K^+$-ATPase activity and ATP depletion. SbG prevented $HgCl_2$-induced inhibition of PAH uptake in a dose-dependent manner at the concentration ranges of 0.01-0.1%. $HgCl_2$-induced inhibition of $Na^+-K^+$-ATPase activity and ATP depletion were significantly prevented by 0.05% SbG. These results suggest that SbG prevents $HgCl_2$-induced alterations in membrane transport function in rabbit renal cortical slices. Such protective effects of SbG may be attributed to inhibition of peroxidation of membrane lipid.

      • 저온에서 침수시 생리적 반응에 미치는 영향

        본 연구에서는 저온의 수조에서 호흡을 중지한 상태로 잠수를 하였을 때 나타나는 심박수, 혈중 젖산농도 및 체온의 변화를 규명하여 환경 변화에 효과적으로 적응할 수 있고, 운동 수행능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 근거를 모색하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 연구 결과 잠수시간은 잠수시기가 증가함에 따라 단축되는 것으로 나타났고, 직장온도는 안정시보다 유의하게 하강하는 것으로 나타났으며, 심박수는 경험군과 비교군 모두 잠수중 심박수 최고가 안정시와 회복기 및 종료시 심박수보다 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 혈중 젖산농도는 비교군의 경우 안정시보다 잠수 직후 및 회복기에서 유의하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 저온에서 잠수시 운동 수행 능력은 혈중 젖산농도의 영향을 크게 받는 것으로 판단된다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of water immersion with breath-hold(WIBH) on the response of heart rate(HR). blood lactate and rectal temperature under low temperature. Fourteen subjects were consisted of SCUBA divers (Experimental group=7) and non-SCUBA divers (Control group=7). Duration of WIBH showed a decrease tendency at low temperature water condition(21℃). and showed a significant decrease (p<.05) with repeated WIBH. Rectal temperature during 5th water immersion and recovery period showed a significant 1ower(p<.05) than during rest at low temperature water condition. Peak HR during water immersion showed a significant higher(p<.05) than during rest, right after water immersion and recovery period. Blood lactate increased significantly (p<.05) at low temperature water condition in experimental group, whereas it increased more significant1y(p<.05) at the point after 2nd immersion and three minutes' recovery period than during the rest. It increased more significant1y(p<.05) right after water immersion and recovery period than during the rest at low temperature water condition.
