Properties of modified polyester fibers with improved dyeability such as, cation dyeable (CD) polyester, PET/polyethylene glycol (PET/PEG) copolyester, PET/isophalate copolyester were studied. The results were as follows. (1) PET/PEG copolyester shows two peaks in the molecular weight distribution curve and the dye-uptake of initial stage is rapid. (2) CD polyester and PET/isophalate have decreased glass transition temperature (Tg) and increased crystallization temperature (Tc), but PET/PEG copolyester shows decreased Tg and Tc. (3) Glass transition temperatures of copolyesters have close relationship with dyeability. (4) Analytical methods by infrared spetroscopy and mechanical properties of them were studied.

The dyeing kinetics of polyurethane fiber with C.I.Acid Red 37, C. Basic Blue 3 and C. I. Disperse Yellow 4 were investigated by determining the apparent diffusion coefficient and the apparent activation energy of diffusion with the following results. The apparent diffusion coefficient of Red 37, Blue 3 and Yellow 4 within polyurethane was each 8.506×10^-9cm^2/sec., 2.013×10^-12~8.461×10^-10cm^2/sec. and 8.053×10^-12~2.192×10^-9cm^2/sec. range. The apparent activation energy of diffusion of Red 37, Blue 3 and Yellow 4 was each 7.16~13.33k.cal./mole, 47.35~18.5 k.cal./mole and 42.57~17.7 k.cal./mold range.

Silk and wool are the two most important natural protein fibers. Because of there different Physical chemical properties the two fibers show quite different dyeability. In this study, we tride silk/wool blend fabric in one step using a one bath dyeing method. Acid dyes, 1 : 2 type metal complex dyes, and complex type reactive dyes used as the dyes. The results of the exsperiments can be summarized as follows

This paper concerns with the utilization of the treatment of sulfuric acid for improvement of dyeing of poly ethylene terephthalate(P. E. T) fiber. The P. E. T. fiber drafted to various times was treated with 70~74% sulfuric acid at 80~95℃ for 30~120min and neutralized with 2% ammonia. The fiber thus prepared has remarkable advantage in high yields of colours when dyed with C. I. Basic Green 4. The tensile strength of 3.2 times drafted P. E. T. fiber is as high as that of used fiber.

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) fiber was pretreated with biphenyl/methylene chloride and other solutions. Other solutions used in this experiment were methylene chloride, perchloroethylene/methylene chloride, biphenyl/water and hiphenyl/perchloroethylene. The dyeing behaviors of the pretreated fibers with C.I. Disperse Red 4 in water were studied with reference to changes in the matter properties of fiber. Also density and X-ray diffraction of the fibers were investigated as measure of crystalline region. The results obtained are briefly discussed in terms of the plasticization of the fiber structure and penetraing biphenyl volume formed during the pretreatment and pretreated time and temperature. The results are as follows; 1) The crystalline growth of PET fiber treated with 5% biphenyl/methylene chloride was also greater than that treated with other solutions, and this tendency was increase with volume of added biphenyl. 2) Equilibrium dye absorption and initial rate of dyeing of PET fiber treated with 5% biphenyl/methylene chloride were greater than those of sample with other solution. 3) The diffusion and dye affinity of PET fiber treated with 5% biphenyl/methylene chloride were greater than those of sample with other solution. I think that dyeing method of energy conservation of pretreated PET fiber is dyeing PET fiber pretreated with 5% hiphenyl/methylene chloride.

Polyester fiber was pretreated with chlorinated hydrocarbon/water emulsions of various compositions. The chlorinated hydrocarbons used in this experiments were perchloroethylene, trichloroethylene and perchloroethane. The dyeing behaviors of the pretreated fibers with C.I. Disperse Violet I in water and that of untreated fibers with C.I. Disperse Violet I in emulsion were studied with reference to changes in the clatter properties of fiber. Also density and x-ray diffraction of the fibers were investigated as measure of crystalline region. The results obtained are briefly discussed in teams of the plasticization of the fiber structure formed during the pretreatment and chlorinated hydrocarbon/water emulsions dyeing. The results are as follows: 1) Shrinkage of polyester treated with chlorinated hydrocarbon/water emulsions was greater than that of sample treated with solvents alone. 2) The crystalline growth of polyester treated with the emulsion was also greater than that treated with solvents alone, and this tendency was in contrary order with regard to the crystal orientation. The order of increasing crystalline growth and decreasing crystalline orientation was, perchloroethylene/water<perchloroethane/water 3) Equilibrium dye absorption and initial rate of dyeing, of polyester treated with emulsion were greater than those of samples treated with solvents alone. 4) The equilibrium dye absorption and the initial rate of dyeing in emulsion dyeing were higher than that of pretreated samples with emulsion in water dyeing.
