창조적 어둠의 조화 : 『사랑하는 여인들』의 경우 The Case of Women in Love

The purpose of this study is to illustrate how D.H. Lawrence symbolized his apocalyptic vision in his novel, Women in Love. It seems that Lawrence's surroundings influenced a lot in conceptualizing his apocalyptic vision is his novels. For example, his experience of World War I directly affected to his novel, Women in Love, in bringing him the apocalypticism of human beings-the extermination of human existence and the extreme cruelty. The characters in his works went to the extreme and acted on instinct at the brink of ruin, but they pursued not the world of despair and destruction but the world of creative life. Lawrence put it this way, “Human beings must be ruined along with the destruction of civilization as Sodom did in the Bible.” It can be interpreted to imply the new birth rather than the doom of human beings. According to Lawrence, darkness means the origin of life and death and the mysterious domain of transcendental energy. He argued that one who experienced darkness could realize in his mind that the old ego disappears while the new ego comes near. He contemplated that if darkness is to mean ruin, human beings should die, and that if it is to mean creation human beings could be newborn. In Women in Love, whose theme is assumed to depict the corruption and dismantling of modern mechanical civilization, the author considered how ‘creative darkness’ was shaped apocalyptically by getting desirable human relationship through such dismantling. It is to criticize modern mechanical civilization in view of ‘ego of darkness’, and to visualize various troubles- materialism, intellectualism and mechanism- caused by neglecting ‘creative darkness’ and ‘ego of darkness’. For instance, Gerald tells one how is distorted and how he dies without accepting ‘ego of darkness’. Birkin and Ursular tell one how the moderns accept ‘ego of darkness’. As a conclusion, I tried to reveal how Lawrence visualized his apocalyptic vision through the harmony of creative darkness in Women in Love.

D.H.Lawrence의 The Rainbow에 나타난 Image 연구

In The Rainbow, D.H.Lawrence tried to picture real life against the barren life in this mechanial modern society. Lawrence real life lies not in barren spiritual world but in the inner self of an individual at the level of primitive instinct. His emphasis on inner real being as a theme of novel affects the style of novel. The realism of naturalism which represents suface life is to Lawrece nothing but a presentation of "life not as a real life". Instead his need to seek real life leads him to the consciousness of inner being and the allotropic element which flows under all men. The exploration of the allotropic element reaffirms the presence of the pattern which presides over the movement of all character. Therefore the charater who become the part of the pattern differs from the character of the realistic novels in the past. To Lawrence, the presentation of appearance is not worth while at all and the aim of a great novel is to perceive the essence of man which exists beyond the surface. He perceived this universal essence in the level of primitive instint and regarded the perfect relationship between man and women as a real life we should take after in this morden mechanical society. This effort to seek real life was embodied in the novels The Rainbow. In The Rainbow, the pattern of establishing an ideal relationship between man and woemen appears repeatedly through three generations. This repetition of fundamental pattern emphasizes the historical and essetial sense which preside in all the characters and have the effects of clarifying the mode of Lawrentian search of real life. Without being influenced by the characterization and form of the past realistic novel, he tried sincerely to seek real life to do the duty of the novelist. This serious effort gave beauty to the sexual relationship which he rerealed as a real form of life and enhanced to the level of religious ritualistic form. This beautification become stronger by the rainbow image as the resurrection and hope which throw a light on the relationship.

The purpose of this study is to propose the activity plan of medical tourism in Korea. Medical tourism can be described as tourists traveling overseas to obtain health care services and facilities such as medical, dental and surgical care. Medical tourism is a new form of niche market in the tourism industry which has grown rapidly in the recent years. And medical tourism is getting more and more attention and become the fashionable vocabulary because of its economic importance. Countries such as Thailand, India and Singapore have emerged as formidable competitors in the field of medical tourism. Korea set up its international medical standards and was highly acclaimed worldwide in health examination, plastic surgery, dental, laser, and so on. But despite the mentioned merits, Korea is still at the initial stage and lacks a specific business model to follow in developing medical tourism. So the relative government agencies have to prepare the following activity plan of medical tourism. First, they must promote specific medical centers and travel agencies for medical tourists. Second, they have to develop the specific tourism goods combining medical treatment, travelling, sports and shopping. Third, they have to train medical coordinators who speak many foreign languages. Fourth, they must devise the plan of positive publicity marketing strategy using international airports and special grade hotels.

This study examined the relationship among an adult's spirituality, hope, posttraumatic growth and life satisfaction to understand the influence of traumatic experience on the adult's life. Two hundred seventy six adults who had traumatic experience were examined. Participants answered the questionnaire regarding traumatic experience, spirituality, hope, posttraumatic growth, and life satisfaction. Results showed as follows. First, spirituality, hope and posttraumatic growth were significantly associated with life satisfaction. Second, when three variables’ relative influences were compared, hope for life satisfaction expectation was the most influential. Third, the results of structure equation modeling showed that hope and posttraumatic growth mediated the relation between spirituality and life satisfaction, and hope mediated the association between spirituality and posttraumatic growth. This result indicated that spirituality, hope, and posttraumatic growth played an important role in overcoming trauma and regaining life satisfaction. Limitation of this study and suggestion for future research are discussed. 본 연구는 성인의 외상경험이 삶에 미치는 영향을 보다 심층적으로 이해하기 위하여 영성, 희망, 외상 후 성장과 삶의 만족의 관계를 구조적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 외상경험이 있는 성인 276명이었고 설문지는 외상경험질문지, 영성, 희망, 외상 후 성장과 삶의 만족 척도로 구성하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영성, 희망, 외상 후 성장은 삶의 만족과 유의한 관련이 있었다. 둘째, 세 변인의 상대적 영향력을 비교한 결과, 삶의 만족에 대한 희망의 상대적 영향력이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 구조방정식 모형검증 결과, 희망과 외상 후 성장이 영성과 삶의 만족을 매개하였고 희망이 영성과 외상 후 성장을 매개하였다. 이 결과는 외상을 겪은 사람들이 외상을 극복하고 자신의 삶에 대해 만족감을 느끼는데 영성과 희망, 외상 후 성장이 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

The object of this study is to propose the development plan of Hwangtohyeon Donghak Festival. This stud conclude as follows: First, Donghak Festival has to establish the short aim that this festival is historical experience festival basing on Jeongeup’s historical true characters to maximize the brand value. Second, this festival must play an role as multi-function space to attract many tourists in Jeongeup. Third, this festival must have many new programs to satisfy family-unit tourists. Fourth, this festival has to be held by festival specialists because there are no festival specialists who have expert skill about the planning and production of festival in Jeongeup. In conclusion, Hwangtohyeon Donghak Festival must aim for historical experience festival basing on Jeongeup’s historical true characters and play an role as multi-function space to attract many tourists in Jeongeup and have many new programs to satisfy family-unit tourists, and have festival specialists who have expert skill about the planning and production of festival in Jeongeup.

The purpose of this study is to illustrate how D.H. Lawrence symbolized his apocalyptic vision in his novel, The Plumed Serpent. According to Lawrence, darkness means the origin of life and death, and the mysterious domain o transcendental f energy. He argued that one who experienced darkness could realize in his mind that the old ego disappears while the new ego comes near. He contemplated that if darkness is to mean ruin, human beings should die, and that if it is to mean creation, human beings could be newborn. It is argued that his idea of creative darkness is concerned with blood consciousness. He seemed to suggest that the life energy within the living flesh can shape creative darkness with the help of internal darkness. He also recognized that blood consciousness is separated from substance and is connected with Dark God. Lawrence applied primitive men's thinking system and Greek myths to his work so that he could teach the moderns the true life. He also utilized various images to achieve the apocalyptic vision. The images are concerned with darkness that becomes the source of creation in The Plumed Serpent. In this thesis I studied the characters' human relationship depicted in various images and analyzed how his idea of destruction and rebirth affected at the end of the modem age. In The Plumed Serpent, whose story is originated from American Indian primitive society, I tried to reveal how Lawrence visualized his apocalyptic vision through the completion of creative darkness.
