동아시아학술원 20년 철학방면 연구성과 ― 유학과 경학 방면 연구를 중심으로

동아시아학술원의 대표적 연구공간은 대동문화연구원, 유교문화연구소, 학술원 산하 인문한국연구소 등이다. 이 세 단위 연구기관에서 이루어진 철학 방면 연구는 주로 저술(저역서, 영인출판)을 통해 수행되었으며, 학술대회와 자료구축을 통해서도 그 연구의 영역을 확장하였다. 유교문화연구소에서는 학술원 개원 이래 ‘유교문화번역총서’와 ‘유교문화연구총서’를 통해 유학의 현대화 문제에 천착하였다. 그리고 2000년대 이후 이루어진 학술대회에서도 ‘경학(유학)’의 현대화에 초점을 맞추었다. 이에 비해 동아시아학술원 인문한국연구소에서는 한국유학(경학)을 기반으로 하는 동아시아 고전철학의 모색에 초점을 맞추어 연구활동을 하였는데, 최근에 이르러서야 동아시아적 연대의 단초를 마련하였다. 그리고 대동문화연구원에서는 영인총서를 통하여 조선유학(경학)의 연구의 기반을 구축하였는데, 이는 국내외를 막론하고 매우 중요한 학술적 자산으로 자리하게 되었다. 한편 자료구축의 측면에서는 유교문화연구소의 ‘유경정본화사업’, 인문한국연구소의 ‘한국경학자료시스템’, ‘한국주자학용어시스템’을 거론할 수 있다. 이 세 사이트에서는 한국 유학, 특히 한국 경학에 관한 자료 구축의 전범을 보여주었다. 향후 한국고전철학연구에 있어 필수불가결의 자료라고 할 수 있다. 동아시아학술원은 지난 20년 동안 이룩한 고전철학 방면의 성과를 토대로 앞으로 연구의식의 심화와 자료구축의 확장을 도모하려고 한다. 이 과정에서 현재까지 진행된 동아시아 고전철학연구에 대하여 비판적 관점을 견지하고, 새로운 문제의식을 도출해야 할 것이다. 동아시아 혹은 세계적으로 인정받는 자생의 학술담론은 이러한 관점과 의식을 통해서 가능할 것이기 때문이다. Three representative research institutes of the Academy of East Asian Studies are Daedong Institute for Korean Studies, Institute of Confucian Philosophy and Cultures, and Humanities Korea Project Institute. Their philosophy research was mainly conducted through writing (publication of books, translated works, and photocopy editions) by these three and has been expanded its scope through academic conferences and establishing database. Since its opening of the Academy, the Institute of Confucian Philosophy and Cultures has published Confucian Culture Translation Series and Confucian Culture Research Series to address the issue of the modernization of Confucianism. Also, academic conferences held since the 2000s focused on the modernization of the Confucian studies (Confucian Classics). In contrast, the research by the Humanities Korea Project Institute has been focused on East Asian classical philosophy based on Korean Confucianism, and only recently has the foundation of East Asian solidarity been established. In addition, the publication of Classic Photocopy Series by the Daedong Institute for Korean Studies laid the foundation for the study of Joseon Confucian classic, which has become a very important academic asset, both at home and abroad. On the other hand, in terms of database establishment, the Institute of Confucian Philosophy and Culture's 유경정본화사업 Project, the HK's Korean Confucian Classics Data System, and the Terminology Data System of Zhu Xi's Learning can be discussed. These three sites are good examples of the establishing database on Korean Confucianism, especially Korean Confucian Classics. This is indispensable database for future research on Korean classical philosophy. The Academy aims to deepen research awareness and expand its database archiving based on the achievements in classical philosophy over the past two decades. In this process, we will maintain a critical view of East Asian classical philosophy research so far and endeavor to identify problems. Based on this, we will ultimately seek out a self-sustaining academic discourse that is recognized in East Asia of globally.
